I'm late but I'm here and I'm up to date on this thread (now to go back and catch up on the other).

I love the outfits that have been posted - fantastic :)

So...I get the Bad Mama award this week :( Izzy ended up at A&E on Sunday (the day of her party :headache: ) as she stood on a sewing needle and it went right through her foot (like RIGHT THROUGH her foot ) :( - and it wasn't the sharp end she stood on it was the eye end - I felt horrible. They managed to get it out with some local and tweezers and she still made it home in time for her party (which I think she was more upset about missing than the darn needle skewered through her foot :confused3 ).

I have no idea how the needle got in our lounge as I have my own sewing room . So lesson learnt...time to make some more pin cushions I think.

Another trip update though...... we have decided not to go to Hawaii now as the cost was too prohibitive with the drop in exchange rate etc. But we will extend our stay in Anaheim out a couple more days and do something else.. maybe San Diego Zoo or something like that. Any ideas of what we can do...and some special stuff that we could do for DH's birthday -He'll be turning 30 while we are away (we were going to go to a Luau thing in Hawaii but that's all changed now).

Ok I'll be back after I read the last thread :)
Yee-ouch!! The poor little thing! We had an adult (T-beri) step on a needle last year and she had to have surgery to get it removed.

For anyone who has bought online/downloaded embroidery or applique designs.... Who do you like to buy from? Where do you shop?

I have been looking at SWAK (got link from YCMT) and but I am hoping to find more of this type of thing.

Thanks
I love www.stitchontime.com. She has the best prices around and lots of Disney. I also love tigerlilyhill on ebay- she has lots of Disney, too and is reasonably priced!

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! Did ya miss me?!?!?!?
Tom...... did you get the package I sent??
I did miss you!

I am terribly hurt that you're sending out packages and didn't send one to me. :snooty:

Hey all I need some serious prayers and a miracle
My dh lost his job in oct (still does not have one Even with a bachelors degree in acct and going to school for his masters in HR) Ironic Huh?
we had to file for Chapt 13 (due to some serious identity theft )
and now just today we got our eviction notice on our house , we have to be out by feb 2nd . we are behind 3 months on our mortgage (which at this point they were supposed to be working things out for us )

I am at a loss and i just want to curl in a ball ..

I have absolutely nowhere to go esp. with a family of 7 .
i am so sorry to come here and vent but i really needed to say something .

Please pray for some kind of miracle, Not for me but for my 5 children. I feel horrible even asking because i know there are better places that need your prayers

I tried to start a etsy shop and sell what i could but without money for fabric and findings that makes it hard, Plus i know the economy is so horrible....
My kids know that something is up but don't know exactly what it is ...
Life is just a rollercoaster for me right now ...

Oh sweetheart, I am praying for you.  :grouphug: :hug:

Im not sure where to start - it has been a very up and down day today - JCAHO is at our hospital doing an inpection this week, and everyone is just on pins and needles all the time -so afraid of being asked a question I dont know the answer to!!!!!

Daniel - his follow up MRI done yesterday as a follow up from last week when they saw a "dark spot" where the tumor had been came back CLEAN!!!! YAY!!! We were concerned the tumor was growing back, but it was just blood from the surgery and it is gone!!! YAY!!! Anyway, he had his chemo and radiation today. I also found out they have a 50 dollar copay for EACH DR AND THERAPY VISIT!!!! UGH!!! BUT, since Daniel's dad was laid off right before Christmas, they will qualify for a special Nemours Grant from the hospital and it will all be covered 100%

This morning at work, my BFF and I got word that one of our dear friends that used to work with us before she moved out to Pittsburg to marry her true love and get married lost her baby. She is 29 years old - married about 2 years. The baby was very healthy, happy, cooing, rolling etc - went to bed last night with out anything differnt - she died of SIDS at 4 months old. They went to get her this morning and she was gone.......I just cant believe it,,,soooooooo sad.....our friend's mom called us to let us know what had happened. I was just facebooking with her on Sunday about snow and the baby and how happy they all were and how nice Jillian's first Christmas was.:sad1:

I feel so happy for Daniel and so sad for Jenn at the same time - - - thanks for listening.......
I'm so glad to hear Daniel's good news. But, I am so sorry to hear about your friend's baby. That is just awful. :sad2:

My nephew, Jamie, died of SIDS when he was 6 months old. My sister-in-law put him down for a nap and when she checked on him an hour later, he was gone. :sad1:

Does anyone have the Carla C simply sweet pattern? Im trying to decide if its worth getting if I already have the stripwork twirl???? is their much difference in general except for the ruffle on the sleeve?

Im considering purchasing the bundle with the raglan shirt, bowling shirt and easyfit pants - but i already have the easy fit pants, so they said i could replace it with another carla c pattern,,,,which one? ( i have the aline, portrait peasant, stripwork twirl and easyfit pants).....thoughts?

has anyone used the chef hat for a grown up? we have a pancake breakfast fund raiser this saturday and i was thinking of making one for DH since he is one of the "chefs"......he has a big head!!:rotfl2:
The chef hat has a grown-up size in it, so it should fit your DH!
The simply sweet dress and the portrait peasant are my two absolute favorite patterns ever!

This is probubly a simple question, but do you have to have a special machine to applique? and how do you applique?
The link to my applique tutorial is in the very first post and it's in the links under "Applique". It'll walk you through it, step by step.

Hi girls

I just want to tell you what awesome outfits you all make!

I have a 4 month old DD & would LOVE to figure out how to make her a couple of outfits like the beautiful ones here (especially for her first trip to WDW in December! :goodvibes ) I just found your thread & have started to look at your photobucket pics - I LOVE this outfit!

I have a sewing machine & have made some hanging wall size decorative quilting items & pillows before, but have never made any clothing items really. Can you girls tell me if there is a particular pattern to follow for items similar to the ones above? Are they in the bookmark section? Or can you direct me to a particular pattern to buy at Michael's/Joann's?

Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!! :goodvibes
:welcome:!! There are tons of great tutorials in the bookmarks. There's a link to them in the very first post in this thread and in my signature. CarlaC wrote a great pattern for twirly-type skirts on www.youcanmakethis.com called perfectly preppy skirts and skorts. It's well worth the money. You'll get instructions on how to make lots of different types of skirts.

(Sorry the Pics are HUGE!)
No need to apologize for big pictures, that's the way we like 'em!
I was looking at these pictures on your facebook account. I love both outfits!! I especially love the chick magnet! Does your little guy ever stop smiling? He looks like such a little sweetheart!

My emotional see saw continues tonight - our friends from church who have been trying to adopt got word today that the 8 year old boy they had chosen off a wait list would be ready for them to go and pick up in 6 weeks!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!
That is wonderful news!

Wow, these are fantastic! I love the fabrics you used for the Cinderella dress! The AK dress is just perfect. I'm glad you started her off in kindergarten the proper way- with a Disney outfit!

She is due the end of august, so I guess about 2 1/2 months. They thought she had lost the baby a few weeks ago then discovered she had not and thought that maybe she was carrying twins and one died. They also had a miss carriage last summer and have been trying to have a baby on their own for quite a while! They have also been in the process of adopting from I believe china. They just want to have kids! I feel so terrible for them!! I think they would be great parents! One is a nurse and the other is a special ed teacher! They really are great people, so sweet and giving!! My heart is aching for them right now!!
Sorry probably more than you all wanted to know!
Anna, that is so sad. No, that was not more information than we wanted to know!

Anna I will be praying for your SIL.

Thanks for the information about the car seats. I think that I will keep Jen in her current car seat until I can get her a nice one that is more size appropriate. Where can I find the car seats that you guys recommended? I want to get her the 5 point harness. My worst fear is that something is going to happen to her while she is in the car and considering how preventable that is I would never be able to live through that.
We'll be here to help you when you get one!

Nikki is 9 and about 55lbs and will be n a car seat probably until she s 18 since i want to try to keep her in one until she is at the max weight limit! Her dr said she could come out ut i am not comfortable with it because she is so small.

teresa,
thanks for answering my ? about do I make the Southern Belle dress of just dress her up. Nikki is so go with the flow she doesn't care. I just don't want her to be the only one dressing up. She doesn't care if she is the only one decked out either way remember this s the girl who wears her petti skirts to Walmart and would wear a Tiara all day if i let her! :lmao: She would also never think to ask me to actually make her something she just isn't like that. She NEVER asks for anything! when my sil took her to Toys R us to pick out stuff for Christmas the only thing she picked out was a book!
My thought on it is if i go through all the trouble will she wear it only once? I figured I could make on of carla's Peasant dresses but fancy with a big sash on the back and maybe some rick rac on it. Or save me the trouble ad she can wear a Petti skirt. UGh what to do what to do!!!!!

Any other suggestions???? I am torn!!!

She sounds a lot like Arminda! She will wear her pettis anywhere! Although, she will ask for anything. She figures it's always worth a shot, even if she gets a no!

We just got back from a whirlwind day ! Not one custom did I see! Unbelievable to me. Lots of girls in princess dresses though.

We need to hear more about it Maureen!

Raglan pattern question. I'm on the fence about getting it. I just got the bowling shirt one last week. DH is gonna have kittens if I buy fabric and another pattern today! LOL Anyway, is the pattern really difficult? I've only tried knits once and I stretched it out and it got all wonky. I'm sure that since it's one of carlas patterns it will rock like all her other ones. I just need some reassurance that I won't destroy my fabric. LOL
I love the raglan pattern, it's very easy.
Family shirts for nick's wish trip.

Hey Teresa I can not get to the tinytreasures page on the give board. When I click on the link under current gives it goes to a blank page. I got to it from your link on the old disboutique thread??????

Tracie
Tracie, I love these.

I don't know what the problem is with the link. Try getting there through the link to the site and then view the page. I had it set to private the other day, while I was setting it up and verifying the family. You might have to clear your cache.

You moved us to Florida?? I love it, but I don't have a green card to live in the US!! But since it's going to be -25F tomorrow, I'll live illegally here on this thread!!

I'm another Britax recommender! We actually use US Regents (they don't sell them here in Canada) My kids are really tall, and we take lots of road trips (three to WDW in the last two years!) So we're going to keep them in 5-point harnesses until the outgrow the Regent. I actually have to order a new one for DD (in pink of course!) and ship it to DH next week when he's in San Diego.

Okay, gotta reapply the sunblock since we're living in Florida now!

Stephanie

Yes, we are in Florida now!!! The is the street my Granparents use to live on. We can go out back and pick the biggest sweetest grapefruits you've ever had!

To no 5 point harness for Aisling!

My mom is the same way about carseats to a degree. She put Dallas in one once and couldn't get the bottom one side buckled so they just left it! What the heck! He might as well not been in a carseat then! We had a LONG discussion about it and I told Dallas to NEVER let them move the car if he wasn't buckled. Carry on and pitch a fit! He'll freak out as it is if you put it in drive and he hasn't buckled everything! Of course, it drives me nuts DH just lets him buckle up himself. I can do it 10x faster!

I knew you'd be freaking out about that too!

If I want my kids to get buckled in faster, I just pretend to put the car in reverse to back out the driveway! They FREAK OUT!

Lydia doesn't insist on buckling herself in yet. She's done it a few times (and I check it) and it takes so long!

I'm a bad mommy too. My VERY large 5 year old (she is often mistaken for 6 or even 7, she wears size 7) is in a high back booster seat. Funny thing, around here I can drive through three states in one day and all three states have VERY different laws about car seats. I was apparently legal in two of the three, but illegal in Maine when she was 3 (she was big enough for the booster, but in Maine regardless of size, you have to be 4).

I love when older generations say, "We didn't use car seats, so what's the problem?". Umm, more kids were often fatally injured, too. Is that what you want for your grandkids? AND, DH cannot understand that you have to tighten the car seat belt. He thinks if he buckles it that is good enough.

My little 10 1/2 year old is still in a 5 point harness and so is my tall 6 year old(she wears a 7 or 8)! They are so worth the extra money to have that extra security and safety!

I don't trust many people to hook in my kids carseats. Corey does a great job, and of course Heather. But, that's about it. Brian never gets them as tight as I do, so I usually redo it. You would think after 16 years of hooking up carseats, he would be able to do it!

On the subject of car seats. My neighbors are in their early 50's and they had a surprise baby come along. Well one day the dad, Jose, is in his SUV fighting with Rosa's car seat. He saw me come outside and he asked if I could help him. He didn't have a clue of how to put the car seat in the car. So I showed him how to put the car seat in the car and how to tighten the belt up real tight. Then he looks at me and he says, "We did not have to use these for our other children." It's funny how times have changed. I don't think that my mom had a car seat for any of us children. I definitely don't remember her having for my little sister, but I can't imagine Jenna without one. It kind of scares me.

I'm glad you were able to help him out!
A little late, but I made it here!!!

Also wanted to share that dh and I are finally DVC owners at Bay Lake Tower! We have been wanting to buy into DVC but dh really wanted to wait until Bay Lake Tower was for sale...and with the current incentive, he figured we should go for it! I am so excited, and we get 5 night stay at a 1 BR villa for our next trip...so we are staying at POP for 5 nights, and at Beach Club for another 5 nights. Kirsten will turn 6 during our trip and she requested to stay at POP century.

About car seats, I have both my 5 and 3 yo in a Britax Marathon. I think I might upgrade Kirsten to either a Regent or Frontier sometime. I don't feel comfortable with her riding in a booster, so I am keeping her in a 5 point harness.

Yeah on your DVC purchase!!!

I'm glad you are keeping Kirsten in the 5 point harness!

Ok, ladies. I hope this questions doesn't sound too bizarre. My oldest is 6.5, 48 lbs and about 48". He is riding in a booster seat but I am going to look into to putting him back into a car seat like the ones mentioned. His brother and sister are in Britaxes: a Marathon and a Boulevard. We origianlly moved him to a booster out of a 5 pt. harness because he was complaining about his private parts being squished (and it being painful). At the time we couldn't adjust the seat we had to make him more comfortable. So, I guess what I am asking is that does anyone have any boys in these seats? Is there enough room "down there"? Thanks for your help.
Arminda (my 10 1/2 year old) is 70 pounds and 51" tall and rides in the Regent with no problems. Not that she's a boy, but that gives you some idea of how much room are in them!

Does anyone else have a child where clown is looking like a viable option for lifetime occupation? This child utterly drives me crazy. Yesterday we were at Brownies and the girls were practicing selling cookies. There was one Brownie who was way sillier than all the other girls. I also noticed that she is a head taller than almost all the other girls. When did she get so tall?

Anyway, yesterday I cut up some of her jeans and played around with the leftover fabric to make her this:

th_IMG_1065.jpg

Don't expect to see a close up of that zebra any time soon! I kept looking at Jeanne's trying to get him close and hers are much cuter!

Oh, and if anyone wants any girl scout cookies, let me know. When they were discussing goals, the girls said they wanted to sell enough to go to Disney World! Their leaders said that was quite a lot of cookies they would have to sell!

Steph, that is adorable! And Megan looks so cute!

Arminda thinks that Jacob would like to be in Michigan this week. We have SOOOO much snow!

It's official- Sophia will have her hernia repaired on Feb. 6th!! I know it is only day surgery but I'm still nervous!!! But I am also glad it's finally set. We have had this hanging over us for over a year now, and knew the day would come eventually!!

I hope everything goes great!

Ok, I've been lurking long enough. If you guys don't mind I think I'll use this new thread as an opportunity to emerge from lurkdom. I'm relatively new to sewing. I started to sew when I had my baby girl, and she'll be two in a week, so that shows just how new I am. On our Disney trip in October I saw so many beautiful custom dresses on little girls, and that opened up a whole new world for me of Disney sewing! How exciting. And then I found you guys, and now I'm hooked. You guys are incredible. I'm so inspired. I hope with your guidance I can one day sew such beautiful things for my daughter. Or at least learn to fake it. Who knows, maybe one of these days I'll even crank out something for my son, too
:welcome:
I am Obsessive - Compulsive. I admit it, not proud of it but it is what it is.

I signed up yesterday for the TinyTreasures Big Give. I finished the outfit today (mostly, I just have to hand sew on the buton

That is SOOO cute!!!!!

How very cute!

Here are my finished A-line tops

Emily
I love this! Great job! =\
Is that height with or without shoes? Luke is 46" tall and 46lbs in jeans and shirt but no shoes. Good thing she's too young for high heels!
:rotfl2: No shoes! Lydia is even taller!
I'm coming out of lurkdom too. I have sewn since I was a little girl but the whole embroidery and applique world is completely new to me. We're going on our first Disney trip Dec. 12-19th and we are trying to keep it a surprise from our kids (they think we are going in 2010). The applique and embroidery work all of you do is fabulous. I wish I had half the creativity that all of you do!

I bought a brother sewing/embroidery machine in November but have only sewn with it. I'm really nervous about the embroidery part. Today I downloaded some Mickey applique head designs from one of the bookmarks (awesome job with all of those btw!).

I don't have any PE-design or software though and I'm not sure it will work well without software? I do have a UBS stick capability and downloaded to that and have the Mickey head up on the embroidery machine screen. I suppose I can stich out the head on stabilizer and then use that as my outline for the freezer paper/fabric cutting pattern? Is that what would be recommended?

Thank you for any help you can give a beginner!

hmm, I don't have any answers for you, but :Welcome:

Didn't someone applique an Indiana Jones t-shirt? I was thinking it was Jham (although I know Lisa Zoe made one).

Lisa and Jeanne have done one.
I don't know what's going on, I still can't quote!!! UGH!!!

Thank you all so much for the prayers for Jenny. I haven't heard anything else today. I plan to call there in about an hour, though. I don't want to be a pest, but I want to know what's going on!
to the newbies! Have you seen my applique tutorial?
http://disboutique.blogspot.com/2008/04/bestest-applique-tutorial.html

Stacey, I LOVE the pink big give outfit!!!!!

I just love the white a-line with the Minnie hat!! That is just adorable!!

I also watch The Bachelor. Henry and I were just saying last night that we should nominate one of his friends that is very unattractive for the next season. Don't you guys think it's about time they start helping people that REALLY need it? :rotfl: I think it would be much more interesting!

Anna, I love #3, that is so cool!

I know there were more things I wanted to comment on- UGH!

Any more news about Jenny??

Your idea for a new Bachelor is too funny!

I'm late but I'm here and I'm up to date on this thread (now to go back and catch up on the other).

This thread sure is moving fast. I need to go back and catch up but first I thought I would ask for some advice. I have over 300 pictures on my Disney PhotoPass card that are about to expire in a couple days. I am conflicted on whether I should buy the CD or purchase one of the Disney Photo Books using those pictures. I am curious if any of you have bought the Disney Photo book and if so, how do you like it? Do you think it is worth the money?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!
I would get the CD.

Hi Friends,

Prayers sent out to those tonight who need them for health (Jenny) and just life's unexpected times (Spongie)......whew....

Oh Wendy, I'm so happy Daniel is doing well, But, my heart breaks for your friend.
Newbie here--I am in total awe of your work! You guys have some awesome stuff on here. I guess I'm going to have to start sewing for DD3 & DD1--I haven't sewed anything serious since middle school. Any easy stuff you can point me towards???

As far as the carseat issue--I have a Britax Marathon & Frontier. I love the Britax! The frontier is heavier & a little unwieldy if you transfer between cars a lot.
Check out the bookmarks for some ideas. And, of course CarlaC's patterns on http://www.youcanmakethis.com are great!

The Regent is a bit heavy too. I try not to move that thing if I can help it!

Hi girls :)

Welcome!! So many newbies on here today! It's nice!!! I would start with CarlaC's patterns on YCMT!

I've been busy sewing!! I did DS's set today, and worked on DD's hat ALL afternoon yeterdy!! I used the newsboy/cloche attern from YCMT and the sizing is waaay off! First on was TINY, second one was HUGE and the last one was wearable. Still a little big but not too bad. (Of course DD kept pulling the thing over her eyes!!) I swear I got DS's set done in the same time it took to get the hat "right".

(Sorry the Pics are HUGE!)
Oh crud, I accidentally erased your pictrures!! But, the outfits were adorable!!! Matthew is such a cutie!! I love Emily in her new hat!

I never did post them last April. You all inspired me to learn to sew and applique. I think I did ok for a first timer!

Here are the outfits I made DD for Disney World. I can't wait to get started for this trip.

th_image632.jpg

I love all these, thanks for posting them!
I am saving money to get Jenna a Britax. When I am ready to buy will you guys still be here to help me pick one out?
Of course we will!

I was looking at Hancock fabrics website and I was trying to figure out what kind of nylon I would need to buy to make a petti-skirt. Does it have a certain name? Does it have to be 100% nylon or the nylon poly blend?

You need nylon chiffon (not polyester chiffon) the nylon chiffon does not fray. So, I'm guessing it's the 100% nylon. It's like a knit. (a very thin knit!)

Finally uploaded pictures of the christmas dress I made for Hannah. Sorry that I am so late. Thank you to Jen for the bows. I was stunned at how beautiful they are!
I had some trouble with the smocked insert. I think it would have gone better had I redrafted the top of the pattern to be straight. I didn't think of that until I was too far in! it was really hard getting the seam allowance to lay correctly so it wouldn't make my top row of smocking look crooked. In the end I just gave up and let it be crooked. :headache:

yes...the bowling shirt pattern is perfect for matchy siblings...

th_PA070117.jpg

These are great! Thanks! I couldn't go back and find the quote, but I saw someone else mention just recently that you can get a bundle of the bowling shirt, the raglan shirt, and the easy-fit pants I think is what they were. I will have to look into that.

I must be crabby this morning because I really need to vent about the bus stop! It has been building for a week or so and it isn't just me!

So, the bus comes at 6:55, not a big deal. It is cold, we go out, stand there and wait. There is another boy who now rides the bus, just started the past 3 weeks or so since his mother got laid off. The first week they walked to the bus stop about 1/2 the time, now they just stand at the end of their drive way waiting for the bus to pick them up.

Now, why am I aggitated? Because the bus stop is one house to the right of us (the one we go to) and the other is one house to the left, BUT if we went to the other one I could totally watch the bus drive by, go down and turn around and then go outside instead of standing in the cold. Wouldn't that be great! Yep, sure would! Of course the ISSUE is that this is NOT a bus stop!!!! And he is not supposed to wait there but come to the REAL bus stop!

Thanks for listening.

:headache:

I think this looks beautiful. I have found that when individuals sew, they pick apart all of the things that none of the rest of us would ever notice. I think smocked customs are the best!!

You need to either call the school, or talk to the bus driver. Fair is fair.

I don't have the stripwork, but I do use the simply sweet all the time. It has two bodice options, jumper and halter, and different tie options too. I use the halter one all the time, mostly for tops.

You have really had a roller coast ride lately, hope things slow down for you.

We like huge pictures! I love the outfits and the hat looks perfect now.

Your AURORA (not Cinderella, Heather) looks so cute! You have a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Your daughter has such a light about her.

Arminda thinks that Jacob would like to be in Michigan this week. We have SOOOO much snow!

Did you see the e-mail he wrote her after she sent the snow pictures? He typed it himself, it said "LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Megan said she would like to go back to Michigan too to see SOOOO much snow!

Wow, beautiful dress! I love the smocked insert and the appliqued trees. So cute!

Poor Jessica! Bus problems are so frustrating and no one seems to care much about them (at least when I have complained).

Misty, I hope things look up for you.

Heather, I hope you get good news about Jenny today.

:grouphug: Prayers to you and your family.

Hi Friends,

Prayers sent out to those tonight who need them for health (Jenny) and just life's unexpected times (Spongie)......whew....

I remember JCAHO visits very well. Those were such anxious weeks. Good Luck.

Sorry about your friend.:grouphug:

It's -30 here today with the windchill. Ugh.

I'll have plenty of time to comment the latest creations, after I drop the kids off at school (it's indoor recess all this week, so they'll be climbing the walls . . .) I'm lighting a fire in the fireplace, hunkering down with a HUGE coffee and dreaming of Disney!

Okay...I won't complain any further about it being 19 here!

Then we're having a heat wave here in Wisconsin!! It's 1.8 right now!!

KEEP WARM!

You need nylon chiffon (not polyester chiffon) the nylon chiffon does not fray. So, I'm guessing it's the 100% nylon. It's like a knit. (a very thin knit!)
Hancock has something called Nylon Net. Is this what I need? It doesn't look like netting fabric and it is 100% nylon. It is very thin.

I'm excited about how easy they were to complete. Now on to try the skort pattern and make two Minni dot skirts.

Emily
really cute! I have been looking at that pattern but I think Nikki is too big for it:mad:
I love your inside info! I watch the show :rolleyes1 and I find it fascinating!
The only reason we watched the 1st epi because He wanted to see her make a fool of her self but we forgot to tivo the rest. OOPS.

I contacted the seller of the Donald Duck applique just a week or so after i purchased the first one. He/She said she had no more and wasn't sure where to get another on.
For those not familiar with the awesome pre-made Donald Duck applique I tripped upon on Ebay last summer.
th_DonaldDuck006.jpg
I love that outfit!

I need opinions please:
For Austin who is 13 and AJ who is going on 9 I think. Or is it 8 Well any way what do you think of these?
They are going on a MAW Disney trip

th_donaldcaptain2.jpg
I love the Donald one!

How often do your machines jam up? I seem to have at least one major 'issue' per project- sometimes two. DH wants to know if that's normal, or if it's because I'm using a relatively inexpensive machine. (or cheap thread)

I really don't know because the machine I learned on as a kid was older than dirt. I don't remember it jamming like this though?
My new machine only jams when it is really dirty inside but I usually know when I probably should have been cleaning it. My old machine which was a cheap one jams all the time hence why it is my old machine! LOL
though I will say I don't think it matters if it was a cheap machine or an expensive machine. A good machine is a good machine. You know?
then again if youa re itching for a new machine your DH may have just given you the perfect reason for one! :lmao:

I'm late but I'm here and I'm up to date on this thread (now to go back and catch up on the other).

I love the outfits that have been posted - fantastic

So...I get the Bad Mama award this week :( Izzy ended up at A&E on Sunday (the day of her party :headache: ) as she stood on a sewing needle and it went right through her foot (like RIGHT THROUGH her foot ) - and it wasn't the sharp end she stood on it was the eye end - I felt horrible. They managed to get it out with some local and tweezers and she still made it home in time for her party (which I think she was more upset about missing than the darn needle skewered through her foot

Oh my about the needle in your dd foot! When I was a kid I had a fishing hook go through my foot and my hand. I have no memory of it but my mom sure does! So your little one probably won't remember a thing:)
Sorry about Hawaii.

Thanks Adi......

And just as a reminder...

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! Did ya miss me?!?!?!?

LOVE ALL THE NEW STUFF!
Welcome back!

Do the cd!

thanks for the Daniel update. Glad he is on the road to recovery.
That is so tragic about your friend and her baby! that breaks my heart! Tomorrow is the 4yr anniversary of my girlfriends 4 month old son Jacob's death. Same exact thing happened to Jacob. Simply heartbreaking.

Beautiful! I love the hat! I was looking at that pattern the other day! Maybe I won't attempt it after seeing yours I don't think I could do it that good!

Spongie- I am not sure why your quote didn't take but prayers are being said for you. I hope everything works out right for you.

Honestly, my DH is so supportive that he WOULD start looking at a new machine for me. When I started sewing as an adult he encouraged me to go for the high or mid-level machine (just singers at wal-mart) rather than the cheapest one, and I was glad I did.

BUT, last night I told him it was either the machine or the thread, so we ran right out and got some Coats & Clark and I had no problems after that. ( I had cheap thread from wal-mart on it before that and I think that may have been causing the problems.)

WOW...I thought the conservative thread moved fast on the CB board...this is insane! I lurk more than post because I'm at work and it gives me something to do while my reports are uploading. :)

I'll try to go back and read more through the day!

Finally uploaded pictures of the christmas dress I made for Hannah.

I often find cheaper threads and fabric shed down into the machinery and mean I have to clean it more often- especially if its fabric with sparkly stuff woven into it.

You know my DH is real supportive of my sewing also. He is the one who talked me into getting the machine that does embroidery. I was just going to get a plain one. The only thing that bugs him is that I keep buying fabric. He doesn't understand my obsession with fabric.
