I'm late but I'm here :) and I'm up to date on this thread (now to go back and catch up on the other).

I love the outfits that have been posted - fantastic :)

So...I get the Bad Mama award this week :( Izzy ended up at A&E on Sunday (the day of her party :headache: ) as she stood on a sewing needle and it went right through her foot (like RIGHT THROUGH her foot ) :( - and it wasn't the sharp end she stood on it was the eye end - I felt horrible. They managed to get it out with some local and tweezers and she still made it home in time for her party (which I think she was more upset about missing than the darn needle skewered through her foot :confused3 ).

I have no idea how the needle got in our lounge as I have my own sewing room . So lesson learnt...time to make some more pin cushions I think.

Another trip update though...... we have decided not to go to Hawaii now as the cost was too prohibitive with the drop in exchange rate etc. But we will extend our stay in Anaheim out a couple more days and do something else.. maybe San Diego Zoo or something like that. Any ideas of what we can do...and some special stuff that we could do for DH's birthday -He'll be turning 30 while we are away (we were going to go to a Luau thing in Hawaii but that's all changed now).

Well, You are going to love DISNEYLAND!!! There is so much to do while you are over here. If you are staying longer in Aneheim, Knotts Berrry Farm amusement park is close by and Universal is not far of a drive. If you are coming down to San Diego you can choose from the zoo or the Wild Animal Park (my personal favorite choice) and Sea World....oh and let's not forget the beaches either :) I am sure that you will have a great time. And you might even get lucky enough to run into poohandpiglet's girls :)!! I think that custom boutiques are catching on over here. I am seeing more and more out here. I have been tempted to go up and say .... "Hi are you on the disboards?" I just don't want to seem like a stalker.:scared1:

Thanks Adi......

And just as a reminder...

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! Did ya miss me?!?!?!?

LOVE ALL THE NEW STUFF!

Tom...... did you get the package I sent??

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PEOPLE!!! Too many pages already! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey all I need some serious prayers and a miracle
My dh lost his job in oct (still does not have one Even with a bachelors degree in acct and going to school for his masters in HR) Ironic Huh?
we had to file for Chapt 13 (due to some serious identity theft )
and now just today we got our eviction notice on our house , we have to be out by feb 2nd . we are behind 3 months on our mortgage (which at this point they were supposed to be working things out for us )

I am at a loss and i just want to curl in a ball ..

I have absolutely nowhere to go esp. with a family of 7 .
i am so sorry to come here and vent but i really needed to say something .

Please pray for some kind of miracle, Not for me but for my 5 children. I feel horrible even asking because i know there are better places that need your prayers

I tried to start a etsy shop and sell what i could but without money for fabric and findings that makes it hard, Plus i know the economy is so horrible....
My kids know that something is up but don't know exactly what it is ...
Life is just a rollercoaster for me right now ...

Ok I'll be back after I read the last thread :)

I love the Wild Animal Park (also owned and run by San Diego Zoo) The animals are in more of an environment that you can be a part of - rather than looking into traditional zoo enclosements. The Wild Animal Park also has a tram that runs around the whole park and puts you right out there with the animals- I loved this. Its been a while since I have been, but they have a bird sancuary that was open (prior to the bird flu) to walk thru and feed nectar to the birds, it was closed when I was there several years ago.
here is the link
http://www.sandiegozoo.org/wap/index.html

Sea World is also in the San Diego area and I love this one more than the FL one for some reason.
I also LOVE the La Jolla area (pronounced La- Hoi-ya)
there are beaches you can see wild seals swim right up on and get close enough to touch (but I wouldnt- they bite!) check out the "children's pool" to see the seals
http://www.a-zsandiegobeaches.com/lajollachildrenspool.htm

My Godfather and family live in this area so I have visited many times (CA is the opposite side of the country to me)

Plenty of good food in this area too.

For anyone who has bought online/downloaded embroidery or applique designs.... Who do you like to buy from? Where do you shop?

I have been looking at SWAK (got link from YCMT) and but I am hoping to find more of this type of thing.

Thanks

I've purchased most of my designs from http://stores.ebay.com/Tigerlilyhill-Embroidery-Designs. I've purchased probably 70 or so designs from her. She is nice to work with and only one time did I have a problem. I just dropped her an email and she corrected it. She offers bundle packs that make it a little bit cheaper. I been buying from her for about a year and a half.

Thanks Adi......

Thank you for the idea! I do love the bowling shirts I've seen you guys make for the boys. They look like they'd be fun to put together. (Sorry to keep posting. I don't mean to be the newbie hogging the boards.)

yes...the bowling shirt pattern is perfect for matchy siblings...

The Big Give has motivated me to sew again. This is what I made to get started.
SDC10324-1.jpg

I had Drew model it for me when it was done because Madilynn was asleep. Of course when Madilynn saw that picture she would have none of that. The hat had HER name on it, she would be the model :)

And as a bonus here's a picture of Drew from Saturday wearing his Mickey Shirt from Nancy (aka Dreamer & Wisher) with the Mickey that greets us at Children's Hospital.

:goodvibes :goodvibes Thank you for posting that picture. I love it!! I am so glad your boys liked their shirts. I saw your trip report too! Lots of great pictures and you finished it up quickly. You did a great job on the hat.

Just when I thought I was getting caught up you guys went and moved on me. . .

But I caught up. Everything posted was adorable as usual!! Welcome to all the newbies.

We got back late Saturday Night and I brought back a sinus infection. So I have been lagging behind on the laundry. I also had to take down the Christmas decorations when I got back.

So tomorrow hopefully I can get some pictures posted. I made Buzz Lightyear bowling shirts for the kids and they turned out so cute. When we went to meet Buzz he got down on bended knee and kissed my hand. :lovestruc

Prayers are being said for all those who need them. :grouphug: :grouphug: Spongie I hope a miracle comes through for you.

This thread sure is moving fast. I need to go back and catch up but first I thought I would ask for some advice. I have over 300 pictures on my Disney PhotoPass card that are about to expire in a couple days. I am conflicted on whether I should buy the CD or purchase one of the Disney Photo Books using those pictures. I am curious if any of you have bought the Disney Photo book and if so, how do you like it? Do you think it is worth the money?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

I have bought the Photobook. It was really cute but I think you could make something just as nice by getting the CD and making a photobook on Kodakgallery, shutterfly, snapfish, etc. It won't have the Disney backgrounds but it would be way cheaper. JMO.

Raglan pattern question. I'm on the fence about getting it. I just got the bowling shirt one last week. DH is gonna have kittens if I buy fabric and another pattern today! LOL Anyway, is the pattern really difficult? I've only tried knits once and I stretched it out and it got all wonky. I'm sure that since it's one of carlas patterns it will rock like all her other ones. I just need some reassurance that I won't destroy my fabric. LOL

I have been on the fence with this one too - should I or shouldnt I?????????????

Hi Friends,

Prayers sent out to those tonight who need them for health (Jenny) and just life's unexpected times (Spongie)......whew....

Im not sure where to start - it has been a very up and down day today - JCAHO is at our hospital doing an inpection this week, and everyone is just on pins and needles all the time -so afraid of being asked a question I dont know the answer to!!!!!

Daniel - his follow up MRI done yesterday as a follow up from last week when they saw a "dark spot" where the tumor had been came back CLEAN!!!! YAY!!! We were concerned the tumor was growing back, but it was just blood from the surgery and it is gone!!! YAY!!! Anyway, he had his chemo and radiation today. I also found out they have a 50 dollar copay for EACH DR AND THERAPY VISIT!!!! UGH!!! BUT, since Daniel's dad was laid off right before Christmas, they will qualify for a special Nemours Grant from the hospital and it will all be covered 100%

This morning at work, my BFF and I got word that one of our dear friends that used to work with us before she moved out to Pittsburg to marry her true love and get married lost her baby. She is 29 years old - married about 2 years. The baby was very healthy, happy, cooing, rolling etc - went to bed last night with out anything differnt - she died of SIDS at 4 months old. They went to get her this morning and she was gone.......I just cant believe it,,,soooooooo sad.....our friend's mom called us to let us know what had happened. I was just facebooking with her on Sunday about snow and the baby and how happy they all were and how nice Jillian's first Christmas was.:sad1:

I feel so happy for Daniel and so sad for Jenn at the same time - - - thanks for listening.......

You will definitely be in my prayers!

I have gotten both - I love my photobook - but I got it mostly since we didn't have LOADS of pictures so I put my fav's in there and now I have them to keep. The CD wasn't worth it to us since I liked less pictures than would make it fiscally wise. . . but with 300 pictures - I would probably get the CD. Plus you can do up those pictures with borders and signatures and whatnot, and easily double the amount of pictures on your CD :)

That is excellent news for Daniel.

I am so sorry about the baby. How horribly tragic. :sad1: Hugs to you and to her :grouphug:

Newbie here--I am in total awe of your work!:worship: You guys have some awesome stuff on here. I guess I'm going to have to start sewing for DD3 & DD1--I haven't sewed anything serious since middle school. Any easy stuff you can point me towards???

As far as the carseat issue--I have a Britax Marathon & Frontier. I love the Britax! The frontier is heavier & a little unwieldy if you transfer between cars a lot.

Does anyone have the Carla C simply sweet pattern? Im trying to decide if its worth getting if I already have the stripwork twirl???? is their much difference in general except for the ruffle on the sleeve?

Im considering purchasing the bundle with the raglan shirt, bowling shirt and easyfit pants - but i already have the easy fit pants, so they said i could replace it with another carla c pattern,,,,which one? ( i have the aline, portrait peasant, stripwork twirl and easyfit pants).....thoughts?

has anyone used the chef hat for a grown up? we have a pancake breakfast fund raiser this saturday and i was thinking of making one for DH since he is one of the "chefs"......he has a big head!!:rotfl2:

This is probubly a simple question, but do you have to have a special machine to applique? and how do you applique?
