Sad news to share...
My grammies closest sister past away today. She would have been 89 next month. She has been in a nursing home for many years and had been failing these last few days. I am glad my grammy got to go spend time with her yesterday.

They have asked me, my sister and another female cousin to be among the pallbearers. She is going to be buried near her husbands. It is a 250 mile trek up north for the funeral. Dh wants to go as a family. So we will have several hours in the car on thursday evening and then again on friday. But I really couldn't say no. All three of us have rearranged everything so we could be there for our cousin (who is a few weeks younger then my sister) as she goes through this mourning time.

Reality is hitting that my grammy will not be here forever. She is in great health so I am hoping to have her around for many years to come!

I was planning to work on the bowling shirt but I just can't get into it. I feel drained.

Thanks for listening.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It really does suck the energy out of you to realize that our loved ones aren't going to be with us forever. :grouphug:

I am so sorry! I started reading this and was 2 words in but kind of skimming. My heart about stopped beating as I thought it was Grammy until I stopped to read! I am so glad you'll were able to rearrange everything. It will mean the world to the family! Be careful. Prayers!

I thought I would share a little project that I whipped up for Jenna. This actually took me like 15 minutes to complete.
S2010251-1.jpg

This really helped to make her room look much neater. All of those stuffed animals were all over her bed and floor and now she can move around and has plenty of room in her bed at night.

I think my girls are a lot like 2cutekidz. They will stay up in the car for hoursssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Also, my DH does not let me drive on road trips. He never has and we have been dating since before we could drive. The thought of me driving the 2-7AM shift might make him have a coronary! LOL When I was young we lived in Tallahassee and my Dad would drive home to Annapolis. He did it with us without stopping overnight. We had a hammock in our VW bus. :) It was the 70's.

I was thinking of making some prize bags, a few new movies, and coloring for the DD5. I am really stumped.

Sorry no models. Here are the girls Chef Mickey's outfits. DD4 and my firneds DD4 is wearing Daisy Duck. DD2 and my friends DD2 is wearing Minnie Mouse! I love how the Minnie mOuse turned out, it's my favorite, Imlike them all though. Thanks Jham for the ruffle idea.:thumbsup2 I'll have to get the 2 boys bowling shirt with Mickey Mouse form my mom. Sorry they are wrinkled, they were in a bag.

These are really cute! I love the white/pastel polka dot you used on the Daisy Duck.

I just fused Daisy and Donald tonight. I am also using the same Minnie for my girls. One will have a Birthday hat on it though. I guess great minds think a like.

Our last trip I made Jenna a crayon roll up, brought her some coloring books, brought her DS, some DVDs and portable DVD player. We left at midnight so Jenna slept for most of the trip. We have a 13 hour trip. So it wasn't so bad. We just had to keep her happy for about 6 hours and my driving also makes my DH nervous. He says that he worries about me when I am driving and he is not in the car.

I was going to say the fringe looked like snowballs, too. Mission accomplished. Very cute!

Great job on the skirt! It looks perfect with the shirt! You did it!

Congrats on the petti find! I agree, dye it blue. For something you got such a great deal on, it couldn't hurt to try, right?

1. We will be driving from Maryland to Orlando. I need suggestions for car activities. Everyone is so creative I would love to hear lots of ideas. The girls will be 2 1/2 and 5. It is about a 14/15 drive without traffic or stopping.

A simple game we always love to play is pick a car color, and then try to find ten cars of that color. We race, and each pick different colors to see who can reach ten, first. Since your kids are younger, though, you can all look for the colors together, maybe.

Lots of really wonderful stuff posted!

sorry about your grannies sister. It is hard as we get older and watch our loved ones pass away. Your family will be in my prayers.

I was inspired to make Grace a dress from the Tinkerbell pillowcase from Kmart. I saw the outfits some of you made using them so I decided to try. I also bought a little mermaid pillowcase. I haven't done anything with that one yet. When I finished the tinkerbell top it was too short. I attached the bottom green piece with ric rac to add length.

Hi Guys,

i have the serger from walmart, and although I still dont know exactly what im doing, i really like it and it sews like a dream!!! it is under 200.....

here is the winter mickey/minnie i just finished for hannah..
100_0624.jpg
i made the simply sweet in a 3 for her....im wondering if it looks big...she is just starting to grow out of 2T in alot of things....hmmmmmmmm',,,,,this was my first try at doing the rick rack poking out like that - any tips on doing that? mine wasnt exactly even and i ripped it out 2x and then just left it as is on the 3rd try....
that is too cute! I love rik rak! I just need to remember to use it!

I finally got up the nerve to cut my fabric. It was so hard to decide what to do. I wanted dots and I wanted it bright but I didn't want too bright.

So here is what I finally had when I started.
SDC10539.jpg

Finally put her to bed and I started making progress. Sometimes she's just a little too much help ::yes::

Finally at midnight I had to put it aside. This morning I had more than enough help. Madilynn sat right next to me, making sure I wasn't mixing anything up.
Ryan was my pin removal boy. He loves that job :)

So here is my first Disboutique Group-effort skirt

Madilynn wanted to make sure you saw the back LOL

I can't wait for Madilynn to get home from school to see it :) Now I'm off to clean the upstairs before the kids get home. Then I'll reward my self with Carla's Flouncy skirt pattern to make Madilynn's Valentines skirt
So pretty! I do have to say I think my fav part is the look on your DD's face as she is twirling though!
To me i think I love seeing how happy every ones kids are in the beautiful creations all you talented ladies and Tom make!!!!

Lots of really wonderful stuff posted!

HAVE FUN! i am so jealous! think of us and take lots of pictures!
How fun!! I miss Cheer. Meagan did club cheer until she aged out 3 yrs ago. I can't wait for this August when Madilynn is finally old enough to join :)
what is club cheer?
I love cheer too and I am thrilled Nikki likes it so much and I admit i LOVE coaching the cheer girls during football season!
I have to tell you I have a girlfriend whose little girl spells her name Meagan too! I remember right after she was born she kept wondering if she should change it because people never spelt it right! She didn't! And Meagan is now 9. She is also a HUGE disney person too!

Love them!

We drive from MD to WDW each year and my best advice is drive at night. Makes life much easier with the little ones. We put the kids in their PJ's and leave around 8pm. DH makes sure he takes a good afternoon/evening nap while I finish packing the car. We head out, I sleep until he needs me to drive. I usually do the 2-7am shift while he sleeps. We arrive in WDW, check in and one of us takes the kids right to the pool while the other sleeps. After lunch, we all nap/rest and then are ready to go for the evening. Its not easy on DH and I but a lot easier than dealing with the kids stuck in their car seats allllllllllllllllllllll dayyyyyyyyyy (especially for a 2 year old who can't read books or play DS games, - even she can't watch 14 hours of movies!)
I was going to recommend the drive at night but as I read further I see your kids don't sleep in the car:sad1: We have done the 14+ hr drives since Nik was 8 months and Kyle 4. Sometimes with 2 dogs in the car too! Honestly the dogs are worse then the kids! Even though we drove at night I still packed things for my kids to do like coloring books reg books a fav stuffed animal. Both kids have always brought a special blanket in the car. Heck both still brought a special blanket on the plane last time we went to WDW! Now we have the DVD in the car so it is a bit easier but it doesn't always entertain. When Nik was smaller I always brought her leap pad that helped a lot.
I finished the Minnie Set...and wanted to share.

Great minds think alike! I just hung one in Kyle's room this weekend because his stuffed animals are all over the place too! Ours was an old one we had in Nikki's room back in GA that I just found and I think it is on its last leg! Do you mind sharing how you made it?

I think my girls are a lot like 2cutekidz. They will stay up in the car for hoursssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Also, my DH does not let me drive on road trips. Sounds like good ideas! Though I would think if you kept teling them the prize was WDW they will be good:thumbsup2

Wow, I don't get on here for 2 days, and I have about 20 pages to catch up on.

Please forgive me for not quoting all the pics with the cute outfits, but I was afraid it would just be too long. They look great though. I love the bag and the rag quilt, and of course, all the clothes!!!
Here's Ella in her new Feliz -

th_heartfeliz1.jpg

This is really cute, and I LOVE the fabric. May I ask where you got it? I'm done with my Valentine's outfits, but wouldn't mind snagging some for next year.

Just go buy Carla's pattern! You will NOT regret it!! Yes, it has a dress option, a shirt option and a ruffles option! Go get it!

I have to agree with this. I have thrown more peasant tops in the trash using patterns from the major companies. The patterns from YCMT are just so much easier to follow.

103_9019.jpg

I still have alot not on the shelves, but this is a big chunk of everything.

Trying to remember, did I ever post a picture of the race car shirts I made?

Well, thanks for looking. Hopefully, I'll have some more new stuff to show you shortly.

Jessica, I love your tees and your organized space. I wish mine was so nice and neat.

This is why I can't get any sewing done today. HK (Hunter's Kitten) loves to sit on anything I want to cut.
HK.jpg

hehehe. That is so cute.

We're back from our whirlwind weekend of racing. Jaz took 5th place!
She's the one in blue.

5th place!!!! That's great!! Congratulations!!!

BRAG TIME!!!!!!

Katie placed 3rd in the school science fair and now she will compete in the district in one month! :cheer2: She is so excited and I am VERY proud of her.:cheer2:

Okay...brag over...back to your sewing...and back to my cleaning:crazy2:

Congratulations to ya'll, too!! That's great news. You should be proud.

I got some material this weekend (I have not taken a pattern yet) for a "Belle" Dress for Megan for our trip to DL in May. Belle is her favorite princess.

So here is what I am thinking, let me know if you think this will work or not. I am not looking to make it an exact replica of Belle, more of the illusion of Belle.

I think that sounds great, and would definitely be Belle inspired. You could also add some smaller roses to the top of the scallop curve if you wanted.

I finally got up the nerve to cut my fabric. It was so hard to decide what to do. I wanted dots and I wanted it bright but I didn't want too bright.

th_SDC10545-1.jpg

Hey, it turned out great!! I know what you mean about your helpers. I have some, too. LOL!!

These turned out so cute. I love Daisy, and I'm so happy to see her on more things lately.

Nice job. I think I have this same pillowcase that I need to use up. Oh, I wanted to add that I love the ric rac and the added band to the bottom. It looks like it was planned. Very nice.

Love the shirt! Katie would love that...must not show it to her or she will ask for it!

Your shelves are so pretty! Good job on being so organized!

What a pretty outfit! Great job!

I love the jammies! I like the bright colors myself!

I jsut found a sewing store down the street from my house that may have someused sergers for sale...so I may have to take a trip there today! Mom said I should look at a few..I wonder what she is thinking. My b-day is in less than three weeks. Oh, I would love a serger for my bday! then I wouldn't have to run to her house everytime I sew something just so I can serge it!

Do share...where is this store? You know I need to know these things!

Pics of Tyler and his new quilt

Lining up the pieces to decide what should go where.

That is so great! Patrick is wanting to sew something and I think that my be up his alley...nice and big squares. It looks great! Thanks for sharing!

My mom is going to chip in with dh and MIL to get me a serger for my bday.:cheer2: I still have a tight budget. What is a good, cheap serger? Something for $200 or less? Anyone buy the Juno one by Janome? It is on sale for $179 this weekend.

Also...I forgot to answer the question about Katie's project. She did it on popcorn. She wanted to see if she could make more kernels pop by either soaking them in water or drying them slightly in the oven. WE EAT A LOT OF POPCORN in our house...that gave her the idea. She is still beaming. We have to pick it up from school Thrusday to make some minor adjustments...it seems her "assistant" may have typed the conclusion wrong!

Now you've made me cry. I feel so very BLESSED to have been part of the Big Give. My kids eyes light up every time they get to wear one of their special things now.

It's the best, favorite and most memorable souveniers they have. They constantly tell others about the "special friends" that sewed for them.

Having a special needs child, it is often that others tease or ridicule. He is often left out. The gifts we received from the Big Give goes so much further than the amazing clothes, books, crayon rollups, etc that we received.

A forever footprint on our hearts
I know exactly what you mean. I hate that our kids who are so sweet get singled out the most. That may be why we both get so much from the Big Gives.

That Minnie applique is popular right now!! I just finished a set using the same image. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
I can't wait to see the shirt!

Here is my last Valentine's Day outfit for the year. I had ordered some pettis for spring/Easter, and they arrived earlier than expected. Also, since it looks as though I may not be able to use them after Feb 10 (thanks to the new legislation), I wanted to make something with them real quick. I have always loves the look of a petti with an embellished t-shirt.

It looks great! I love just adding something to make dresses and shirts longer. I did it with all my sundresses that are now too short.
Thanks for letting me know what she did. I am sure the assistant was just tired from working hard. You must be so proud of your daughter, wtg!
