I am practicing sewing/ appliquing (not sure of the terms:confused3 yet!!!) so thank you for your help! I am now wondering where you guys get all of these great fabrics from??? I went to my fabric store and only found a few/ not too great things. I am hoping to make some stuff in the coming weeks so I can post and get some opinons. I am a very basic sewer but I figured if I had some cute disney fabric anything would look good pixiedust: !!!!
I get my Disney fabrics from Wal-Mart and Hancock Fabrics. There are some places around the internet that have some OK prices for Disney Fabric too. And Welcome to the most addicting thread on the internet. :cheer2:

Oh! I have a flood story too!!!:rotfl2: I was house sitting for my parents when I was about 21. My mom had told me her washer was acting up and to only use it when I could stay with it to make sure it switched cycles from the filling cycle...you guessed it...Hey! I was 21! It had been a late night!:lmao: So, I needed clothes for the next night and I put them in the washer and went to sleep. I woke up somewhere around 8 am the next day to the sound of rain...in the basement! I ran to shut the washer off and went to the basement where there was 2-3 inches of water standing in the basement (1100 sp. ft. basement!)...my parents also live on a well! Yep...it lost presssure! It was a nightmare. I cleaned up the water...called thier neighbor to come work on the well. In the mean time...the hardwood floor right outside the laundry room started to buckle and the ceiling in the basement started to come down! I just sat there and cried! I was able to get ti dried out and started the repair on the ceiling (I'm handy like that!) and pulled the flooring up in the hallway. My parents came home 2 days later...it was not pretty! They laugh about it now, but not so much then! :lmao:

Update on my Granny....we moved her to a nursing home this weekend. She is doing much better and seems to be making a great recovery. Thanks again for all the prayers...:goodvibes
The only thing that I can get out is Oh My!! Well atleast you were able to fix the problem. Yay for your granny getting better. :cheer2:

Finished my first A-line on the weekend. And of course a pair of easy fits to go with them.

Ta da... It is reversible too.

And a pair of flannel pyjamas.

That is so cute: I love the button tops!

Also, if you can, say a little prayer for me:) Some of you may remember that we were putting a large addition on, we ripped apart half our house and ran into a lot of problems. Anyway, we have been living in a ridiculously small space with 7 people, barely surviving. lol. We will not be continuing on with the addition, and today we put an offer in on another house. It is bank-owned, so they are accepting the best offer. It would save us so much stress and heartache if we get this house, so please pray that everything goes well!

 I hope everything works out.

Okay, I think this is it... I think I am finally in labor! Don't chat too much since I won't be able to check the boards for a couple of days!

:cheer2: Go, go, have that baby!

Sorry about your computer troubles. The new western dress is really cute! I think it looks perfect to me. Oh and I LOVE the pics of the kids in their Steelers stuff!!! Too cute!

Thank you! My husband did a system restore this morning and fixed it, so I am not grouchy now!

These are so cute, as are your other outfits recently posted. I can't wait to meet you: I hope your student is easy on you this week!

Cute: I love the buttons on the pants!

I have done that too many times to count where I screw up the "attaching" of the bodice. I kind of sew now with one hand stuck in the skirt part now trying to make sure it all stays "straight" so I won't screw it up. Thanks for the tip!

Me too! You would have thought it would have taken before now to realize that if I stabilize the bodice, it will be much easier to sew all the gathered layers on!

Megan - love your cowgirl outfit!!

She says, thank you! I love your story about hiding the helmets. I hope clean up goes well for you.

UGh what a night! We where watching the super bowl having a nice time. Half time rolls around I am all excited Bruce is on` I LOVE Bruce i have seen him live many times with my best friend usually in NJ since to us there really isn't any better place to see him then his hometown crowd. Any way. Nikki is watching the half time with me and she starts feeling this dripping on her head:scared1: So I am thinking ok kid sure just be quiet Bruce is on! :rotfl: Well she was right! the ceiling started dripping ALOT!:scared1: :scared1: Well turns out my rocket scientist son 'forgot' UGH to shut off the faucet in the bathroom up stairs when he was brushing his teeth so he flooded the bathroom!:headache: :headache: So George freaks out sends him to bed as he is cleaning up the bathroom. So I had to put 3 large pasta pots down on my 10 + yr old floors along with lots of towels. Then we prayer the 100+ yr old plaster didn't totally break! :confused3 Thankfully it stopped leaking and will take awhile to dry. In the end no real damage that we can see was done. We think this must have happened before because we could always tell that the ceiling in the living room had been patched and had a crack. We figured since the house was built in 1891 that was pretty good only having 1 crack in the ceiling!

Oh no! I hope the damage isn't too bad.

Update on my Granny....we moved her to a nursing home this weekend. She is doing much better and seems to be making a great recovery. Thanks again for all the prayers...:goodvibes

Great update! I hope things continue to go well with your Granny.

Ta da... It is reversible too.

And a pair of flannel pyjamas.

These are so cute! I love the reversible a-line.

I did discover something new. Sometimes when I am attaching multiple layers to a bodice it gets all twisted and folded. Especially when you attach it to the wrong side and have to rip it out and start over. :crazy2: So after I did that, I ironed on about an inch of interfacing to the bottom of the bodice and that made it much easier to sew! Hope my mistakes help someone.

And, here we go Steelers!

th_IMG_1106.jpg

Cute!!! I love the cowgirl outfit!! I think the black is a little long, but it is still really cute, so just leave it!

I love the picture of Megan and Jacob!! Did they watch the game?

How funny to see this! I haven't checked in for a while. Just busy with busy life. Riley is on a competitive dance team, has to take a ballet class, and is doing basketball. I miss life with preschoolers when I got to decide what I did and when!

Hope everything is well for everyone. I'm mailing my big give outfit tomorrow morning.
th_MinnieHelloKitty001.jpg

I'll try to be better about checking in!

Denise, that is so cute!!! I just love the button Mickey head! When you get it shipped, please post over on the Big Give board. :thumbsup2
Okay, I think this is it... I think I am finally in labor! Don't chat too much since I won't be able to check the boards for a couple of days!

OOH!!! How exciting!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :grouphug: pixiedust:
I have been lurking, but I just wanted to pop in and say that everyone's stuff has been awesome lately!
I really hope that all the people leaving for the dismeet soon have a safe trip and awesome time!

Also, if you can, say a little prayer for me:) Some of you may remember that we were putting a large addition on, we ripped apart half our house and ran into a lot of problems. I hope you get the house!!

I wonder if the Chung family ever wonders why their 2003 Family newsletter gets so many hits!

Thanks to Carla for making the Easy fit pattern to fit a 4 month old and a 6 year old! Now to iron Giuli's and pack everything up for tomorrow!

So cute!!!! Do you pronounce Giuli "Julie"?

I like it just like it is Linnette!!! Very cute!

HI! :wave2: Have you read Heather's applique tutorial? There is a link in the bookmarks and in the first post. :thumbsup2
I get most of my fabric at Walmart, Joann's and Hobby Lobby. I've been collecting it for a "few" years now though!

Finished my first A-line on the weekend. And of course a pair of easy fits to go with them.

Ta da... It is reversible too.

And a pair of flannel pyjamas.

I love it!!! The a-line turned out really cute!!! And I love the PJs!!!! That is really a nice style!

Hey Steph!!! How 'bout them Steelers?:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

WOW, the meet is almost here and I'm still waiting for fabric to come so I can sew Lily's dress!! LOL hopefully I'll have pics for you all by the end of the week. I need to work on her valentines day outfit too. SEW much to do!!! Lily has been wanting to wear her disney customs all the time lately and they'er all warm weather wear so she has been disappointed.Hopefully this cold spell will be our last for the winter!!

I have a great flood story for you.

Flash back oh 3-1/2 years to Hurricane Rita. I did not join the mass exodus of Houston (3 hours to get from my office home was a long enough drive for me) and we were hunkering down ready for the storm. Its evening and the rain and winds have just started when my doorbell rings. I answer it and it is my neighbors mother asking if we have a wet vac they can borrow. My neighbor decided to fill the bathtub just in case we lost water. She left it running and forgot about it and flooded the entire master bathrrom, closet and half the master bedroom. There was 2" of water throughout. This is a 4 month old house at the time. FOrtunately for them it is a single story slab on grade home. They had to have all the carpets ripped up and professionall dried, the rooms repaited etc. Of course the part that really irks me is that they broke both our steam cleaner and our shop vac. The steam cleaner they at least told us about (they broke the handle), the shop vac they did not (they flooded the motor because they didn't empty the canister).

On a sewing related note, I decided to go through my scraps this weekend and make doll clothes. I finished 3 full sets (skirt and shirt) cut out 3 additional skirts (well I ran out of material for the lining and need to buy more) and did a new skirt for my daugther yesterday. I need to take pictures before I mail out the doll clothes to my neices.

I've been a lurker on this thread for a long time and just wanted to say that I am in awe of everyone's work! You all do an amazing job! :)

These are so cute! I love the reversible a-line.

Thank you. Cute, and not too difficult. My friends and family here are all impressed with the reversible factor, that is why I added the Ta Da!!

I love it!!! The a-line turned out really cute!!! And I love the PJs!!!! That is really a nice style!

Thanks. The pants are of course the Easy Fits, and the shirt is a commercial pattern that was too plain for me, so I added the cuffs the same way as on the Easy Fits.

Hey everyone! :wave2:
Wow looks like I've missed some great stuff!!

Everything went really well with the funeral and the 10 hour round trip car rides. We had an uneventful ride up north and the kids were really well behaved. My cousin gave a very touching and heartfelt eulogy with her dad. Her grammy would have been proud.
We stopped to see some other relatives on the way home and had a nice visit.
Then I worked the last 2 days! :crazy2:
Glad we're back we have a busy week this week. Kindergarten registration for lucas and Sophias pre-op physical and surgery.
And some big give outfits!! Yep it's gonna be a busy one!

Hope everyone is doing great!
It made it to 40 something here on saturday!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: So there's hope we'll make it through this winter!!
UGH!!! It has just been to darn cold!!

OK, I know I've been MIA since the beginning of December or so, but did you all see that the CARLA C PATTERN TRIFECTA (strip work jumper/easy fit pants/portrait peasant top) is NOW available in a bundle pack!?!?! Woo Hoo. and the patterns have been updated to include a size for 6mo. and leg ruffles for the easy fit pants. YAY!!! I SO hope this new little nudger is a GIRLprincess: sew I can make matchy outfits for Little and the babe!!! But if all else fails I'll at least get to make some cute customs for my girlfriends baby girl, she is due the day before me.

OK, that's all I have to say about thaaat (she said w/ her best Forrest Gump impersonation)

...t.

You deserve that Ta Da! It is totally cute and impressive.

Where did you buy the pattern for the top?
It is very cute!! Good Job!! :thumbsup2

I think it is Carla's a-line pattern from youcanmakethis.com. It is very well written and comes out very cute (as you can see).

Hey everyone, I've been lurking and I love all the new stuff! I'm nearing panic mode with all the stuff I need to do before we leave on our trip Saturday :hyper: My friend decided at the last minute that she wants some stuff for her kids too, so with my sister's kids, I'm trying to make outfits for 9 children. Let's just say everyone's getting a little less than I had originally planned. I'm going to have to crank out 9 Mickey head tees today. I spent forevery embroidering Perla last night only to have Lily knock the plug out when I had about 2 steps left and now I can't get the embroidery machine to work so I'll have to work on that too. And my camera broke. It was taking fuzzy pictures, then the USB port wasn't working (the cable was fine) then somehow it dumped over 900 pictures from the memory card. They are GONE. I'm hoping I didn't lose too many. I usually upload them to the computer but I don't always get every photo. Oh well, can't think about it now. Fortunately I do have a backup camera even though it is the WORST camera for Disney. It has like a 5 second lag between photos so when you are taking character photos you can only get one. If I try for two, I can see the characters getting impatient! I have also had the most miserable cold, but I'm finally starting to feel human again. :cheer2: Just in time too! And today I get to take 2 kids with me to get the oil changed in my car! :scared:

I have some stuff to post, just no models. I did get Lily to model her Small World outfit though. I just got matchy bows from Jennwdw. She matched them from the photo. SO CUTE!

and yes, the paint is chipped on my baseboard. Luke was vaccuming the other day and ran into it and the corner piece popped out. Mike put it back in but the paint has not been fixed.

and Luke is Star of the Week at school this week so I had to put together a poster real quick last night. On top of everything else my CDS was NOT working at all (the first time I tried to use it) and I HATE IT! But my cricut did help out, I just had to use it the old fashioned way. :rotfl: (not a good picture, I had no lighting last night.)

Ok, I have lots of questions for you! Where did you get the fabric with the faces on it for the skirt? And did you make that shirt or buy it?
I love the pic thing that you did with the cricut! :)
Have a good trip :)

That small world set is just too adorable!

Well, here goes. I have been working on a few things and I thought I would post them and see what you all think. for a few of them I used the Carla YCMT designs and I they came out pretty nice. Sorry about the poor picture quality. I don't know whay they came out so bad. It's a new Kodak easy share.....I must have the settings incorrect. Well, I will figure that out later...

First I attempted the stripwork jumper and my DD5 loves it! She already wore it to school. I wanted to start on a few non-Disney things to get some practice and use material I already had.

100_0550.jpg

Next I made one with a solid skirt for my other DD8. It is a little bright for her but she said she would like to wear in to the TIKI Room:

100_0544.jpg

Next I had to make something for my DS7, so I attemtped the bowler shirt.....Still needs the buttons though!:rotfl: :

100_0545.jpg

Then I made a simple pooh one for DD5:

100_0546.jpg

Now I am working on two things. The first is a Mary Poppins shirt, skirt, and belt for DD5. I had left over material from her Jolly Holiday dress and I wanted to make her something that she could wear in early May when we go to Disney. It still needs a lot of work but, this is what I have so far:

100_0543.jpg

and last, I am working on this Animal Kingdom outfit for my DD8, who LOVES animals:

100_0548-1.jpg

The iron on transfers I made using some creative DIS board Disigners designs. I just used transfer paper, printed them out, and then iron on. Thank you for them DISigners!

So, what do you think? Thank you ladies for your inspiration!
Sorry, pics so big!

JEANNE!! I saw the it's a small world in the photobucket earlier ( and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!)....STOP posting to the photobucket and get sewing girl!!!
Don't stress about the pictures, my parents lost about as many of their trip to mexico, they were NOWHERE to be found. They took the camera in to a camera shop and they were able to retrieve them from the internal hard drive. If you know a computer guy, he might be able to help you out. I think the camera shop charged them like $50. But at least they got their vacation back!!!

I've been away & am having a hard time catching up with all the posts! I just have to say I LOVE all the NBC stuff - SO awesome!! It's one of my favorite movies! I have gotten SO many ideas here for more & more dresses I want to make now before our trip in December! LOL Good thing it's a 10 night trip! ;)

I've been battling a cold & praying Maddie doesn't catch it - she hasn't been sick yet & I'd hate for her to get it now. But, I managed to finish my 3rd dress for her on Saturday:
February021.jpg

Teresa - I've been reading your TR, just haven't caught up yet. I LOVE all the beautiful outfits you & your sister made for the girls! I loved the Beaches & Cream outfits, the AK outfits & I think my favorite so far has been the pink Cindy dress with the birds on it - it is awesome! Cinderella is one of my favorite movies & I just love this design! :thumbsup2

We got our confirmation for our trip in December - we're officially booked at a BWV! :goodvibes Wish it wasn't 10 months away...LOL
