mickeynut1.....Thank you for your help. :goodvibes Its just one of those things I have wondered about.

You're welcome :). Since the rates at the WL are quite a bit cheaper than the other deluxe resorts, you can sometimes save more with free dining over a room discount (even with paying rack rate), depending on when you go and how many people are in your room and their ages ;).

..now if I could get DH & kiddos to stop trying to get me to change to all BC :guilty:

Just keep telling them the WL is an awesome place to stay and you are getting the best of both worlds by staying at an Epcot resort as well as an MK resort :thumbsup2.

I put my birthday in the ADR as our special occasion, but wondering if I should also put our 30th anniversary. Is there such a thing as too many special occasions? :)

I would put your anniversary on there too ::yes::. When I booked our Disney cruise for next year, I put all of our celebrations down (there are 4 occasions we're celebrating). Our anniversary is the day we set sail, my DH's birthday (which is on our anniversary), our oldest DS's birthday, and our youngest DS's high school graduation :goodvibes. The CM asked if we were celebrating anything special and once I mentioned our anniversary, everything else just followed :rotfl: :rotfl:.

I am sure that this question has been asked a million times, so here is a million and one! We are going to be checking into the WL on 6/22. It will be our first stay there (our 11 DS first ever trip!). We have a woods view room. Is there any other request that I should make? Is there any chance of getting a refurb room?

I can't answer your question, but wanted to say I hope you have a magical stay :wizard:. The WL is a beautiful resort and I'm sure you'll love it :goodvibes.

I've never stayed at the WL, but I think it's beautiful and hope to stay there someday...:goodvibes

I hope you are able to stay there sometime because it really is a great resort. One of the (many) reasons we love it is for the close proximity to MK as well as to the monorail resorts ::yes::.

The project is supposed to complete in September.

I am so excited to see the new rooms, although this a big reason why I'm having a hard time deciding on a resort for our December trip :sad2:.

The rennovation just started on April 15th and I believe started with the North Wing. No one has pictures yet, we are all anxiously awaiting same. :goodvibes The project is supposed to complete in September.

This is the one thing that I have been unclear on. Are all of the rooms going to be done by September? Or is that just the CL floors? In the begining it seems like I heard that the renovations were going to take a long time to complete. I'm talking about well over a year. It doesn't really matter to us. We are booked there regardless.

I believe at first it was reported to be 1 year, however, based on the schedule, they are doing 1 wing at a time (North Wing first) and they are starting with the CL rooms, then going down 1 floor at a time. They started 4/15 and the CL rooms (floor 7) are scheduled to be done by May 1st???...then the other rooms on the other floors in the North Wing...and then they'll start it all over again with floor 7 of the South Wing on July 7th. This is my understanding of the schedule. WDWKOOK could probably explain it better.

Hi everyone. We just got back last night from a week at the WL. It was our first stay there and we were NOT disappointed. Let me hit the high points.

1. DME - This service is amazing. It was quick and everyone involved was super friendly. Our luggage arrived in our room and within a couple hours of us landing. Couldn't imagine going to Disney and not using this service.

2. WL - Great lobby, real nice CMs. We were upgraded from a Woods view to a Courtyard view. Our room was on the 6th floor and we a great view of the pool and lake. Saw the boats coming and going all day. It was a great view. The room was standard, with a king bed. No complaints. The TV channels stunk but they are being upgraded ASAP. That certainly didn't ruin the trip! lol. The pool was great. Just a warning. The birds outside the Roaring Forks are fearless. It was like jurassic park out there. And there are love bugs by the pool. They were mildly annoying.

3. Transportation - We never waited more than 8 minutes for a boat or bus. They both came in fat supply. Really impressed. The boat service was fantastic. A lot of fun.

4. Food - We ate at all three restaurants at the WL. All good. Artist Point was amazing! ORDER THE SCALLOPS.

5. Construction - You can tell what's going on. There are two sides of the hotel that the balcony's are covered with green construction "cloth." You see workers walking around and once and awhile you hear them working. Never woke us up though. It did not influence my stay one way or another. I tried to get a sneak peak but all the room were closed and locked. They did change out the door locks, from gold ones to black ones. They looked nice. Based on this, it doesn't appear they are going to change out the room doors.

Overall we had a great trip. I would recommend this resort to anyone. We love to stay at different places everytime we go so we probably won't be staying here again. However, that is because of the type of people we are, not a statement against the WL. It was fantastic. I'm sad we're home.

Thanks for your review. Glad you had a great stay and liked the WL :).

Welcome back!! I was curious on whether the construction was evident or not. Glad to hear it didn't influence your stay. I do know that there are certain times they can start and need to stop.

Glad you had such a good time.

We request the otter pond view, pending on where you room is you might be able to see the castle and fireworks at night.

Thanks for the bus info. We plan on going to TL one day at opening, so that helps. We are also going to DD another day to spend some time at DQ and dinner at Raglan Road, so the return time info is also helpful. My tentative plan is, if we have the energy, to go to DHS for extra hours after RR instead of back to WL. Maybe that bus ride will be better!
Thanks also for your AP link! We are going on the 2nd to last day of our trip. I put my birthday in the ADR as our special occasion, but wondering if I should also put our 30th anniversary. Is there such a thing as too many special occasions? :)
I second the motion to include ALL your celebrations in your reservationparty:

I know there are other forums that address this, but I thought I would ask here because everyone is so nice. :)
It's been 10 years since we have gone in the summer and one thing I remember is having to be much more aware of our feet! I was wondering if you had tips in this area. I have an old pair of Nike Straprunners (kind of like Teva's) that served me well in the past by alternating back and forth between them and a good pair of sneakers. I am looking for a newer version of the Nike's that is similar in design. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated! I can't use Crocs because of the slippage possibilities (really bad for my back) and need the ankle support. Thanks for any help. I want to buy them in the next month or so to have time to break them in and discover if there are any problems.
No problem at all asking here, but I can't be of much help as I always wear my Asics running shoes around the parks and usually Birkenstock slides when we're just going to dinner or not walking a lot.

:welcome: to the DIS and to the WL thread, fanofeeyeore, (from a former Hoosier;)).

You can definitely request a rehabbed room. Each floor of each wing is going to take about 3 weeks. The 7th, 6th and 5th floors of the North Wing should be rehabbed by your arrival date so go ahead and add that to your reservation.

I've been looking through this thread and see that there is an upcoming renovation at the WL. Are there any photos of renovated rooms? If so, can someone please point me in the right direction? I've never stayed at the WL, but I think it's beautiful and hope to stay there someday...:goodvibes
Photos have not been made public yet, but I have a description of the rehab and current updates on the first page/post #1 of this thread. I hope you get to book WL - you'd love it:goodvibes

Thanks so much for posting your TR, Wiley Coyote! It will be nice when the new TV channels are in all the resorts. Here is the new channel lineup that should be at WL by May 3, 2012:

New channels will include: Food Network, TV Land, SyFy, National Geographic, Fox News, Bravo, AMC, TBS, TNT, Travel Channel, Discovery, HGTV, TLC and History Channel. On the day of the upgrade the cable will be out for 10-20 minutes from 10 am – 3 pm, then will return to normal. The channel selections are available on Channel 17.

Sorry to read that you'll never return to WL even though you weren't disappointed. Have you considered a split stay maybe?

I was told last summer that it could take one - two years, but as of this month, I was told it will only take 5 months and as of now, it's on schedule:yay:

Yes, Mousemommy1 got it right. The first rehabbed floor (7th/North Wing) should re-open May 1 and then floors 6-1 will be completed. In July, they'll start the 7th floor of the South Wing, with an anticipated resort-wide completion date of the end of September.

This is correct. I believe the schedule is something like the same hours as Mousekeeping - around 8-4:confused3

Wow -- you are all so nice on this thread! I got so many responses -- thank you! :goodvibes

Ah -- so I guess I will have to lurk around and wait to see what they have in store.

Thanks! Me, too! We visited last time to have dinner at WCC and my DD thought that the WL was really, really beautiful. It's really the only resort that we haven't stayed at that we are hoping to try out in the future. :) The architect also designed AKL and GCH and we stay in those 2 often and we love them -- he sure knew how to make an impressive and inviting lobby!

Photos have not been made public yet, but I have a description of the rehab and current updates on the first page/post #1 of this thread. I hope you get to book WL - you'd love it:goodvibes

Thanks! I checked page 1 for photos, but I'll go back now and read the description. I hope we get to stay at the WL sometime soon!:)

Just found this thread and Disboards. We leave in 10 days for our first trip to WL and booked Woods View/bunks. I requested adjoining rooms and quiet room for naps etc away from Whispering Canyon. I also asked to be higher up in hopes of seeing the fireworks. (does this mean I'll be stuck with an enclosed balcony-maybe I should change that?)

Is there anything else I should request or change about my requests? Am assuming there will be no rehab woods view rooms May 6th.

To make requests I just call the number for making changes to the reservation and go through the phone tree until I get an agent right?

Thanks....this will be our first time to Disney in 10 years and my DS very first time ever along with the grandparents!

Hi. Quick question about CL.
Do you get the regular toiletries or the SPA toiletries on CL?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

:welcome: to the DIS and the WL thread, firstwdw! Do you have your DS and parent's "first visit" noted in your reservation? To add that or to make a room request, just call the WDTC @ (407) WDISNEY with your confirmation number.

Only the 7th floor of the North Wing will be done by the time you arrive. The 5th floor is the highest floor that doesn't have any enclosed balconies (the 6th floor has some enclosed balconies). You could also request "highest floor without an enclosed balcony in a quiet location." When you check-in, just ask where your room is to confirm your request. It's good that you chose a Woods View since you need some peace and quiet in the afternoon for naps. The (inner) Courtyard View gets pretty noisy in the afternoon from the pool party music and PA system.

Hi. Quick question about CL.

Quick answer: No.

Longer answer: Only the Yosemite and Yellowstone Suites have the SPA toiletries pictured on the first page:upsidedow

Just got email yesterday from WL planning office that the North Wing will be complete on 5/4 and they have put in my request for one of those rooms (I check in around 6pmish on 5/4)- here's hoping that one bunkbed room will still be left at 6pm...... I did online check-in also, so I've done everything I think I can do....

Popping in to see if there are any pics of the new rooms yet. Did I miss anything ? I read back a few pages but didnt see anything. I am so excited to see what they look like I am going crazy here. lol

Anyone have any pics or know when we can expect to see some ?

EDIT-
Ahh nevermind . I just saw the post at the top about the refurb and not having pics yet. I went several pages back but missed reading some of the newer posts. Sorry about that. I guess I will just have to pull up a chair and sit tight with the rest of you!

WDWKOOK,

It sounds so bad when you put it that way, never returning. We loved the resort. But we only go to Disney every five years or so. There are so many great resorts there, we want to try a lot of them. So you see why I dont think we will be back. But never say never, it is a great resort.

Your DD is right.....the WL is very beautiful :goodvibes. We haven't been to WCC in awhile as we've been trying other TS places, but that is one I have on our list for our next trip as the few times we have been there, we loved it. I remember reading about the architect and that he designed all 3 resorts...and I must say he does a great job :thumbsup2. We are wanting to go to DL and we've already decided that when we do, we are staying at the GCH......it looks just as beautiful as the WL.....and I think we'll feel right at home ::yes::.

Welcome to the Dis and the WL thread :welcome:.

How exciting to be going back......and I think you picked a great resort :). Have a great trip :yay:......I'm sure your DS will have an awesome time, especially with his grandparents along :goodvibes.

Just sending a little pixie dust that you get a new room pixiedust:.

You came to the right place to wait....we are all (im)patiently waiting for new room pics :hyper: .

There are so many great resorts there, we want to try a lot of them.

I couldn't agree more :thumbsup2. I always have a hard time deciding on a resort as we have our favorites, but we also like trying new ones :upsidedow.

I'm with Mousemommy1.....can't wait to see the new rooms :dance3:.

I switched to all BC...I still have a WL trip planned for January...at least I'm guaranteed a rehabbed room :goodvibes I will continue to hang here as it is such a happy place

wileycoyote Great review! Thank you! Hope you will be able to return to WDW soon :goodvibes
