We are booked to stay at WL the last week of Sept./1st week of October. After receiving our letter we called the number provided and they transferred us to Guest Services. After some deliberation, we were offered an upgrade at the Grand Floridian (they would cover half the cost) or $500.

We got ours last week

We got ours too....Hey MamaBear - was it you looking for GF rooms? They opened up a few less expensive rack rate rooms yesterday. I wrote on facebook but don't know if you saw....I mix up people's real names and screenames :)

Gotta say that piece of mickey mail was as much of a downer as that envelope hangn on ur door at the end of ur trip

I know! It made it seem real! How many of you are calling to try to get a discount? I'd prefer an upgrade to Club level. What are the chances of that, do you think?

We will be at the WL Nov 14-22 and received a letter regarding the pool closing last week. Just like everyone else we are so disappointed. We really enjoy our afternoon breaks at the resort pool. This is our first time staying Deluxe. We are traveling with my parents who believe will be their last time going to Disney and my father originally wanted to stay at the Polynesian (on his bucket list) but with all the construction I talked them into the WL. Now this resort will have construction. Not sure what to do. We have two courtyard rooms booked. I was so excited about our stay now I'm worried the construction of the pool and beauty of the courtyard will be ruined. We are not interested in AKL due to distance. Availability at other resorts are almost nonexistent.

So we may just make the best out of it and continue our stay at WL. :confused3

Any chance the pool construction will end earlier? Has that ever happened with Disney construction? Or am I dreaming? Haha

We are hoping the same thing...notice I changed my ticker but I'm not happy!

Did anyone notice they took the WL construction notice off the website??? I am so hoping they changed the dates but I'm sure it's just a glitch.

Yes it must be just a glitch. The not so magical nor friendly CM just informed me the construction is still a go and pretty much my only option is to rebook at another resort.
:furious::sad2:

We are arriving 10/22 CL level for the first time and really wondering what to do regarding pool closure. The quiet pool would be ok but m afraid it will be too crowded. Traveling to another resort to use pool is not really practical for us.
Have not received any letter regarding pool closure or any construction.

So do I understand correctly that some people are going to stay at WL even though they are not happy about the pool situation and then pitch a fit to see what they can get? Wow. I wonder....when rates for 2015 come out in a week or so and these same people start complaining how Disney is ripping them off....will they even stop to think about how their actions could play a part in the bottom dollar?

We arrive September 11th.... No letter yet. We also booked through AAA...not sure if that would make a difference.

I think this is the week that the refurb on the creek is finished. I wonder if the tarps are down in time for the fourth?

Just wondering ...those of you who got a letter does your letter give any options or actually recommend rebooking due to construction or pool closure?

I can't find my letter. What number did you call?

No, it didn't give any options or recommendations for rebooking. Here are a couple of paragraphs:

Please know that, while you may see or hear our work in progress, your comfort and enjoyment are our top priority. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

If you need assistance with your reservation, please contact your original booking agent listed on your confirmation letter. If you booked your stay through Walt Disney Resort or have general questions, please call 877-282-9282 and one of Cast Members would be happy to assist you.

We eagerly await your arrival and wish you a truly magical stay!

Yea I feel really bad for the staff that will be working during all of this mess. They are going to be greeted by people coming in with guns blazin hoping to get an upgrade or some money back when they should have just booked somewhere else from the get go. I'm not thrilled about the thought of construction but I'm choosing to stay there anyway and I don't need or want any compensation for it...it's my choice!
