Hi everyone. We are staying at the WL the end of August:yay: We are all looking forward to this family trip. My son and his family will be CL, myself, dd and dgd will be CYview standard room. This is my son and his family first time staying on site, My son has not been to WDW since he was a teen.

When I saw the news about the stream I was concerned because I want them to see all that we saw when we stayed at the WL back in 2012. Then it was posted it should be back and running before our vacation:yay: Now if I'm reading this correctly the main pool might be out of service? Is there any way or anyone to find this out for sure? We are a family who enjoys the pool and hotel while we are there. The main reason I chose the WL was because of the pool and the ability to leave MK easily to take a break and swim. I debated saving for the POLY but with all the construction news and volcano pool down that was a no for sure. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I'm wondering/concerned about this also, since we will be there the last week of August too. I sure hope the pool will not be closed! :-(

I'm here now! Checked in at 8:30 and the CL staff were wonderful. We headed to Epcot immediately, but our room was ready shortly after we left. We came back to room around noon to swim. The deluxe rooms are beautiful, however the patios are very small. I was surprised about this. It is not a big deal, though, because we are so close to pool area. The dry stream is a nonissue at this point because the waterfall is behind a scrim. I was told the whole pool will be renovated in stages. We used the quiet pool mostly because the daytime music was too much for me. We thought the food in the lounge was fantastic tonight.

I would LOVE to see some great pics of the deluxe room when you get back! No pressure, huh?! :lmao: I am seriously considering a stay in the deluxe and need to convince my sister that it will be great! :lovestruc (it's difficult for her to leave GF...)

Have a wonderful time!! :wave2:

We will be there the 7th through the 11th. You can share with me and I won't think you're too crazy. ;-) or we could switch and you could have a trip with kids and I'll do the solo trip. ;-) lol Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Haha, uh you can keep the kids :P

But I would love a meet up sometime that week :)

OK, this is what I have been hearing. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to start a panic.

I found out yesterday that it is public knowledge now but not much info is being given.

At first they thought the main pool was going down right after the Spring/Waterfall was completed. That would have been right after the 4th of July. And it would be down the whole Summer.

But I heard they are now having the pool go down right after Labor Day. From what my friend said is that they are "hoping" to have it completely rehabbed by Thanksgiving but that was when they thought it was going to start in July. I'm really hoping that it is done by Christmas as I know lots of folks visit then.

It makes me sad as I was hoping to go the end of October, but really don't want to look down at an empty pool. Been there, done that.

Here's hoping this is painless and goes quickly. And that things don't change, but as we know things do change.

I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner but I didn't want to start rumors without having all the information.

So glad everything is working out! I've stayed in a deluxe room once and absolutely loved it!

Just a tip - with you being a little further from the CL Lounge, ask for a "to go" tray. They have them underneath and it has a section for cups just in case you need to bring some stuff back to your room. It is a cardboard tray. :)

We loved bringing snacks back to the room and being able to sit in the livingroom and watch tv instead of eating on the bed!

Our stay at WL is August 21-25.. I so hope the WL pool will be available. :'(

Our trip this year is a 3 resort split (YC Aug 25/27) that ends at the then "pool-less" Poly Aug 27/29th!

One deluxe without a feature pool this trip is enough :(

It sounds like the main pool might be down during our trip, Oct 22nd to 27th. We like the Hidden Springs pool better, in fact, it is my favorite quiet pool. But having the main pool closed would take away from the ambiance of the resort a bit. :confused3

I hope some sort of official announcement comes out.

:confused3

I hope some sort of official announcement comes out.

I just don't understand why they don't put out an announcement to their guests. Baffles my mind :confused3.

I think it is worse that a guest arrives and to find the pool completely down at check in than it is to have prior notice. At least give us the chance to change resorts if we want to.

We are going the last week of August and switched over from the Poly because the pool will be closed there! Would they really close TWO main DELUXE pools in AUGUST?! :headache:

ETA: ok so it most likely wouldnt be till after Labor day? I read through those posts pretty quick with panic eyes.

I don't know why they don't rehab pools in the winter! Too cold for most people to want to swim, but since it's Florida, the weather should be fine for a rehab.

Let's hope it's after Labor Day for sure. We are there for the last two weeks of August and frankly, one of the reasons we stay at the WL is the pool area. Hoping this is just rumor, or that it will in fact be done later. This is our 25th wedding anniversary trip and this would really be bad.

So I went ahead and purchased an AP tonight.... And then I started having second thoughts about going solo.

Then I decided, just do it, it will be fun! And I started to freak out.

The problem with me going solo, and being so reluctant, is because I have a panic disorder. And not having someone there to 'reassure' me frightens the heck out of me.

As of right now I haven't cancelled anything, but I may in the end... :(

I know EXACTLY what you mean. If it was during a time period that my anxiety was "good" it would be absolutely a great trip. But, if something triggers it - well, you just never know what might trigger it in me. :confused3

Any other friends that you could consider asking? Or, can you Skype or FaceTime with someone? Even that virtual connection is a comfort for me sometimes. Good luck with your decision! :flower3:

UGH, a major bummer as we are going the middle of November :sad2: Our two little boys will not know how to function at WDW without our afternoon swim breaks. Looks like I may need to look into a different resort, as much as it pains me to do so!!

I TOTALLY agree with this! When we are deciding on a resort for each of our trips, we are a family that hugely factors in the pool area of the resort. Being told last minute that the pool was non-functioning would completely change our trip. If this rehab is a maintenance (as opposed to an emergency) it should be very possible for them to plan in advance so people know what they are getting in to when they book or at a minimum have time to rearrange plans (different travel dates or different resort).

We arrive on Labor Day for 1 week. So, if I am reading this correctly, the pool will be closed while we are there? That would not be good--my kids love the pool!

As of the info I have heard right now, that is correct. Sorry.

But please know things can change. I'm not saying not to worry but they can always cancel or move the date.

This is probably a mute point, but maybe try and call Disney and see if they have any info.

And of course, all of the reasonably priced rooms at the other Deluxes are sold out for that time since it's free-dining.... Going to stay positive from now on. I think I've gotten my complaints out of my system for now :)

We don't know how long the rehab will take. It maybe fixed by then.
