I feel so bad about this pool thing. But I know we have to stick together and provide any info we can.

Please understand that this is what I "heard". Things can change. Things can move quicker than expected. Things can be cancelled.

The one thing I do know is that they said that the CM's were very happy when they heard that the pool rehab won't start until after Labor Day. When after Labor Day I don't know.

I just don't want anyones trip to be ruined. I know how it is to really love a ride or attraction only to find out it is down for maintenance.

You should not feel bad! I know I really appreciate it. Even if it's down while we are there, and least we can be prepared for it and have different plans. Thank you!

Yes, I was able to pull paper FPs, which are no longer available.

Yes, I know which is why I am wondering what this Christmas week will be like with just FP+. Honestly, I am planning on doing RD and then taking a break and then using the three FP+ later one. I could care less if we get a fourth....etc. My DS might feel differently ;). I am going to take in the whole Christmas experience and can't wait.

We did the fast pass on the MB in Nov last yr and it worked out just fine. I am not sure where issues would arise? What type of issues are you concerned about?

Does anyone know with past WL pool rehabs....were WL guests allowed to use Contemp's pool? Maybe a more frequent boat between resorts? In the past when Poly's volcano pool was down, they shuttled guests to GF (though they don't plan on allowing that this time). I just can't imagine they would have the Volcano pool and WL pool closed at the same time. But, shows what I know!

The WL has two pools, the main pool and the pool at the villas. The villas pool is really nice.

I just called resort reservations and she checked her rehab schedule and said that there wasn't any pool work on the schedule at this time. She did say that there was a room refresh listed there - beginning on May 2nd. That surprised me because the rooms were fully rehabbed in Sept 2012.

But you never know with these pool closings. I saw the dates change for the Poly Volcano pool constantly. :confused3

OK, this is what I have been hearing. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to start a panic.

I found out yesterday that it is public knowledge now but not much info is being given.

At first they thought the main pool was going down right after the Spring/Waterfall was completed. That would have been right after the 4th of July. And it would be down the whole Summer.

But I heard they are not having the pool go down right after Labor Day. From what my friend said is that they are "hoping" to have it completely rehabbed by Thanksgiving but that was when they thought it was going to start in July. I'm really hoping that it is done by Christmas as I know lots of folks visit then.

It makes me sad as I was hoping to go the end of October, but really don't want to look down at an empty pool. Been there, done that.

Here's hoping this is painless and goes quickly. And that things don't change, but as we know things do change.

I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner but I didn't want to start rumors without having all the information.

I'm heartbroken! We've been planning my 40th trip for months. Planned on staying at the WL, Aug 31-Sept 6, without the kids. Now with this possible pool closure, I'm going to have to change resorts it seems :( so much for my first deluxe stay :( what a bday bummer. We were looking forward to our quite afternoons at the quite pool with a nice adult beverage. It won't be so quite if it's the only pool in use.

So I went ahead and purchased an AP tonight.... And then I started having second thoughts about going solo.

Then I decided, just do it, it will be fun! And I started to freak out.

The problem with me going solo, and being so reluctant, is because I have a panic disorder. And not having someone there to 'reassure' me frightens the heck out of me.

As of right now I haven't cancelled anything, but I may in the end... :(

I don't know what your triggers are, but going solo gives you the flexibility to go where you want when you want, so if you need to go back to your room for a quiet break, you just do it. You will have an AP, so you won't have the pressure of feeling like you have to do everything to get your money's worth. I have some issues with crowds, and it is great to just go back to the room and relax on the balcony to decompress. Keep your phone with you so you always have a lifeline, and you may find just having the phone will help a lot. I hope you get to go solo and have a great time! I have spent long weekends at WL without going to the parks - I enjoy the resort that much.

I appreciate everyone being so supportive :)

I booked my fastpasses today so that made me feel a little better. I think a lot of the stress and anxiety right now is because John leaves on Sunday morning, and my mom who had a double lung transplant 4 years ago has pneumonia and possibly will be admitted to the hospital today. Stress does not help me..... Disney next month might lol

I will probably feel better when I know everything has calmed down a bit.

I did an update to my April TR this morning and that also was therapeutic. I may even go fishing again or go say hello to Don our guide who became a good friend when we were there :)

Thank you so much for this information - really appreciate it!!! But boo! After two trips this year (both of which included lots of Poly construction research) I think we'll stick with a GF/BWI stay in January and keep WL at the top of the list for spring break.

Hey There!

I PM'd you the other day, but your box is full. ::yes::

What a bummer about the pool rehab. As much as we don't want to, we'd switch resorts if the pool were to be closed while we are there in November. I looked online and of course only the most expensive rooms have availability with the free dining promotion. Yikes. Not sure what to do :confused3

Thank you for sharing the info.

Do you know what exactly they are doing to the pool (i.e. general resurfacing or something more severe)??

Can we call WL directly and find out about the pool? I would think they'd be able to give the most accurate info.

Crab rangoons and beef stew tonight! Both were awesome. Also a chef salad that was delicious. Another great day. Boats were slow this morning (I tried the MK boat since that's where we were headed. They are doing construction on dock as well. We should have taken the contemporary boat. Even being at the dock at 8 am, we missed the opening show. It didn't matter, as we were headed for Frontierland.

Thanks for the update. So can't wait to indulge in club level offerings

Sorry, I don't.

I'm hoping when Kook goes she maybe able to get the scoop!:beach:
I can't multi-quote right now, but I have a friend who is checking-in tomorrow who has agreed to get more information for us about the pool closure. It may be no different from what TheLodgeLady has so graciously posted or she might be told more or less. It seems a closure date hasn't been determined, so after Labor Day may be a guess this far in advance. I will post as soon as I have any news and I will also post an update after I check-in 6/25.

In the meantime, remain calm! Rehabs have to happen periodically to make improvements and the VWL pool is wonderful - it has jets;)

I just called the resort and reservations and both places stated that there is nothing to indicate the pool would be closed this year in the fall. they both checked multiple sources.
