Does anyone know if there are bike racks for folks bringing their own bikes. I would like to ride over to Fort Wilderness a few times while we are there. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a bike rack outside. You could also ask Bell Services if they have room for it. If they do though, it is customary to tip them when you pick it up and drop it off. I saw someone doing this when we were visiting WL for lunch.

Good morning! I have enjoyed reading this thread. I am new to the DIS boards and it took several days but I am all caught up on the Lodge info thanks to you all. We are planning a multi-generational stay for a week and 1/2 in June 2015. Five kids, six adults, going to rent points and hopefully stay in the villas. We are getting very excited and just waiting for the 11 months out.

Our little family of four went for the first time in September 2013 and we are HOOKED. Enjoyed the convenience of the Contemporary but we want the Lodge and nearby FW for the next trip!

Subbing- headed to WDW next May and hoping to stay here!!!! Have stayed at POR in the past and love it but really hoping there is a special or discount and we can upgrade to WL. :)

I'm thinking of ordering the snack pail surprise for my grandaughters. Anyone know what is included in this? Has anyone ordered it? If so, were you happy with it? Of course I would order one for each girl. Thank you to anyone who can give any insight.

Are you talking about the one from Disney Florist?

Are you talking about the one from Disney Florist?

I was going to ask the same thing. Everything from Disney Floral is great. My husband got me gift baskets from there for our honeymoon. The food we got (chocolate) was very high quality.

He even had a basket shipped to our house a few weeks ago for our anniversary and the quality was equally good. They do a nice job.

You could always bring some with you. I always throw some in my suitcase (Target sells them). I like to take my coffee to go and it is easier this way ;)

We're going to do a grocery run so I'll pick some up if I can't get them at the resort.

I actually have a few of them at home (left over from POR stay in Oct). The values have plain disposable cups as well.

You'd think the deluxe would offer them, but I guess they consider it a perk of the deluxe level to get actual glassware.

We will be at the WL from 8/31 to 9/2 this year. Moving over from the YC for the last 2 nights of our vacation. Never been at the WL before. Looking forward to relaxing the last couple of days of our vacation. Thought there was alot to do at the WL and nearby. We will have finished our park days before checking in, so I thought the WL would be a fun end to vacation with my 2 teen kids. DD' s 13th bday is August 29, so she'll be offically a teen right before we check in.

Thanks for the info in this thread.
Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates on the first page.

Happy birthday to DD and yes, there's a lot to do both at WL and FW. You can even boat over to CR for some meals and shopping and easily visit the other monorail resorts. Happy planning!

Good Morning all!

Guess it's time for me to brush up on my WL knowledge since we only have a month and a half until we arrive :teeth: We're in Florida now on Spring Break (at the beach - not Disney) Went to Seaworld yesterday for our youngest son's birthday, and we almost rode over to WDW. Sooooo tempted, but DH quickly reminded me how disappointed the kids would be if we drove up.....then drove away  DS7 would have had a meltdown for sure!

Back to reading...then to the beach we go!

:beach: Heather
Howdy, Heather! How was spring break? We spent ours at a resort in WV. I'll bet it didn't snow on your spring break:rotfl:. Just did my FP+ yesterday and I can't believe it's only 2 months till we're back at our favorite place. Did you already book all your ADRs and FP+? Are you on the DDP again or TiW?

Ugh, those West Side driver swaps...
Love that - WSDS:thumbsup2

Well, I would swear that I asked a question, but I guess I didn't hit send.

We are 1 adult and 2 small kids in a standard room for 3 nights. I looked at the photos of the groceries in the mercantile. The photos don't show pricing. Can someone give me an idea on prices of things like a bottle of wine, cereal, bananas, and 1/2 gallon of milk? A six pack of Diet Coke (or are those single cans?)

I'd love to have breakfast in the room so we can make park rope drop, and that's less hassle than RF. The kids can eat and watch Disney Jr while I shower and dress. I really don't think we need enough to merit a grocery delivery minimum, so resort pricing is the next best.

Thanks!
Sorry I'm late with your unanswered questions:
6-pack of soda $8.00
An 8-pack of small cereals $6.95

Hi!

We are less than a month away from our trip.

We are due to land in Orlando around 1:30PM on Saturday 5/17. I'm hoping we can be at the lodge by 3PM. Would we be able to get to the Cub's Den or Roaring Forks for the festivities if we get there by 3PM. I know my DD (age 6) would love to try these things out if we get a chance. We aren't doing a park until Sunday.
The Cub's Den "open house" is from 2:30 - 4:00 so you should be able to stop in a bit. DD might be more excited about exploring the Lodge or working off all that sitting on the plane and bus by going to the playground on the beach. The Cub's Den activities are seated crafts and coloring.

3 more days, 3 more days, 3 more days. This is my mantra today.
Too much going on with my life right now...and a new german shepherd puppy that is turning my hands and legs into a pin cushion lol

I just cannot wait to hear the words "welcome home" on Friday.
It's almost time to hear WELCOME HOME!!!!

Hi there,

Does anyone know if the 1 BR villas have an accessible shower? Which rooms might they be? I'm hopeful that there is both a tub for me and a roll in shower for my DS. Does anyone have any pictures? Are they dedicated 1BR's or lock offs? Which way do they face? We have a noise-sensitive kid. Of course, we'll make any adjustments as we need to but it'd sure be nice to know before we go!

Any info appreciated.

Thanks!
Have you tried looking at the VWL Touring Plans Room Finder HERE?

Can someone describe the Club Level benefits? I've read the info on the resort site. Just wanted a personal view & opinion. Can't decide if we want to upgrade or not. It's just the hubs & I this trip. My apologies if this has been asked before.
Welcome and no apologies necessary.

Have you read the CL sections of this thread? The CL sections are all hyperlinked in Post 1. It describes all the amenities, has menus, and many lounge photos.

The staff, view, lounge offerings and cleanliness make the Old Faithful Club a wonderful and pampering experience. I can't recommend it enough! If you have more questions, feel free to post them.

So this is my silly question of the day... on the cruise lines you are pretty forbidden from using the "over the door" organizers for fear of damaging the door...

Does that apply to the resorts as well?

Can you decorate your hotel room door? I read that the cruise line was a metal door, are the resorts the same? Can you use magnets on your door?
I have never seen WDW Deluxe Resort doors decorated at all other than a wreath/stocking at Christmas.

I'm sorry if this is a frequent question, but I've looked through the thread as thoroughly as I could and didn't find the answer to this. We're staying at the VWL in February (no, I am not Type A. Why do you ask?). We would probably like to order pizza to the villa one night. Do any of the local pizza places deliver to either VWL or at least to the lobby of WL? Thanks!
:welcome: to the DIS and the WL/VWL thread!

There is flatbread pizza available at Roaring Fork, but I don't see pizza through Private Dining. There are some restrictions on pizza deliveries at WDW Resorts so I would recommend asking either Bell Services or the Concierge when you arrive. I don't know who is allowed to deliver and who isn't.

I wonder if I called housekeeping they could provide them?

I really like those disposables.
Lodgekeeping doesn't have them since they only provide glass cups. If you stay CL there are paper cups available.

True - my husband doesn't care much. The bigger thing is that we are actually paying more for this room than a courtyard view room (with no bunk beds)...and what we really wanted was a courtyard view. We currently have a woods view. Oh well! At least we are going :)
Don't give up. Keep looking everyday and also ask at check-in. They will adjust your rate if they are able to "downgrade" you to a non-bunk room.

Hello! I'm trying to decide if I should rent DVC points for VWL or go with a standard room for our trip at the end of April 2015. There are four of us (2 adults and 2 young kids). I saw a picture if the views from the standard rooms and I'm not excited about looking out over the service area. How are the views from the DVC studios?
The WL Standard Views can also be of VWL and the bus stop area. The parking lot would be off to the right. Keep in mind that those SV rooms that are on higher floors in the North Wing have a partial view of Wishes. While the smokehouse is down below, the woods with CR, MK in the background are at eye level from the higher floors.

There is a VWL room map on the first page of the VWL section. Thread chapters are hyperlinked in post 1.

Hello from the Lodge. Relaxing in rocking chair outside of lobby with my cup of coffee. So peaceful. Doing a load of laundry. We have been enjoying the resort and our room location is great. Easy elevator ride down from 5th floor to boat dock, Roaring Forks and lobby. Also liking the boat to Contemporary making the monorail accessible.

Rebecca
Peaceful is a great way to describe WL - even when doing laundry:laundy:

Welcome, awalker1015. Once you stay at WL, you'll be hooked:goodvibes

Hey folks, my group will be attending MNSSHP earlier in the week of Halloween, but are there likely to be Halloween activities at the WL on Halloween night? That will be our last night there, and we all love Halloween. Any other suggestions for non-MNSSHP activities on Halloween? Thanks!

I'll second that!!!! :thumbsup2

Kook, do all the guest room doors have a wreath/stocking on them during Christmas?!?!

I'll definitely second this too! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Perhaps I can find room in the suitcase for some cereals. I don't think $3 is a deal breaker on milk by any means.

We used to find those individual boxes of cereal and pack those in the suitcases. Then we would just grab milk and fruit. It worked out great!

So I did exactly what I said I wasn't going to do....pack at the last minute!!!!!

I am running around with my head cut off packing, cleaning, printing last minute documents, checking, rechecking, and rechecking again that we have the necessary things lol

Our flight leaves at 8:12am tomorrow from Dulles so I would like to be there by 5:45. We should be 'Home' by noon :)

Going to be a long sleepless night!

Looks like I'm in good company! :lmao: As always, I'm sitting here past my bedtime, listening to the dryer still running... :rolleyes1 Have a safe trip and a wonderful stay! :goodvibes

That form is SO helpful. Thanks. I was getting nothing newer than 2009 when I searched. So that puts me at $22 for 3 bananas, 8 pk cereal, 1/2 gal milk and 6pk diet cokes. Throw in a wine bottle and yogurt or chips and I'm still under a minimum delivery order. The markup truly is all over the board, depending on what you buy.

I follow this thread but I don't think I've posted yet!

I'm a huge WL fan. Stayed there for two weeks in 2001 and have been desperate to go back.

Super excited to share my WL love with my family this August 5-12 :)

Oh, the excitement the night before! In a pixiedust: you will be walking through those double doors!!! :yay:

Pack those last few things and enjoy the peacefulness of the waterfall before you know it!!!:cool1:
