We are officially in single digits until our return to WL!
Getting really excited for everything that we will be doing and I can't tell you how much I need this vacation right now.

I'm hoping that out request for inner view courtyard is given, we love the view of the pool, the lake and even the horn of the boats lol

I guess I better start packing :D

We're getting pretty close too ... we're split stay vacationers so we start out with CBR and POR first though.

Thank you :goodvibes We have had some crazy experiences leaving MK after Wishes that DH would rather forgo fireworks  hence we haven't seen Illuminations. Now that we are stroller free I don't mind standing on the buses if we need to....it's the wait for the buses. I know it's always variable, but I always like to hear everyone's experiences! :drive:

Have you read about the new after-Illuminations drinks and small plate offerings in various places in WS? Maybe he will feel better going to the bus a little later. We usually stroll around WS after Illuminations, then stop at the fountain for a little while, and by the time we get to the bus stop it is not so crowded. If you can't find the info about the after-hours fun, I will try to find a link.

I have been hearing bad things about the transportation from WL to Downtown Disney via. the bus.
Would it be better to take a taxi there?
How much estimated would the cost be?
How readily available are taxi cabs at the WL?:confused3

Buses are bad to and from DTD when it comes to ANY resort...

We haven't used a taxi, but were fortunate enough to get a ride to DTD with another family during our last trip. It isn't very far in a car.

The buses aren't terrible, but it does seem to be the longest of the bus trips. During the day they also stop at Typhoon Lagoon, so it can take about a half hour once you get on the bus.

I have to agree with this. We never have a problem with buses unless we are going to DTD or trying to get back to our resort. It seems like that is when we are waiting for a bus the longest, especially going to DTD.

I did see that :) My plan is to do Illuminations on an EMH night, then we can wait a bit to go back..depending how long the kiddos survive. Hopefully the mad rush thins out a little bit...:confused3 Thank you for the idea!:goodvibes And I drink never hurts to calm Daddies down!

My favorite route to DTD is to leave a park and catch a bus to POR or POFQ and take the boat.

I then may take a bus directly back to my resort, or go back to POFQ and grab a beignet.

Sometimes if I haven't bought anything I might head back to a park from PO.

LOL I don't know if it saves time but I like boats.....

There is a caveat. They are currently doing construction at DTD and the dock at Marketplace is closed, so they let you off over on the west side by the restaurants and you walk over to marketplace. Nice if you plan to eat at Raglan Road or something then do shopping but kind of an inconvenience if you don't want to walk.

Easiest for us is boat to CR, then walk upstairs to the monorail and then Resort monorail past the TTC to Poly. Adding in any extra boat stops, it may or may not be faster to take a bus or boat to MK and transfer to the Resort monorail (stops at CR, TTC) to the Poly.

Leaving, it's probably fastest to walk from Poly to TTC and board the Epcot monorail, but it is easy to hop back on the resort monorail and make the whole loop again (GF, MK, CR and then TTC) instead of walk.

Tks! It looks like no matter what it's going to be a little trek over... glad I got a 9:30 reservation!

Taxis should be easy. We have had bell services call for them. At least during park hours I have seen them hanging out at TTC and Epcot parking. We had a sick toddler and took a taxi from Epcot to WL for about $10 including tip. It should be something in that range unless you have a bigger group.

My husband and I are booked in a Woods View bunk bed room but wanted a king room with the courtyard view. We can't switch bec it was a BB offer and the rooms are sold out.

Anyone ever heard of putting in a request to switch down? (to a cheaper room).

It never hurts to ask for what you'd prefer, and based on availability they might be able to do something for you. I recall at least one other case where someone on the thread had bunks booked and didn't need them, so they requested a different room.

One thing to consider when requesting a switch to a king is whether you'd be ok with a Handicapped accessible room. (Which has no bath tub and a slightly different bathroom configuration.) A good number of the Kind bed rooms are this way. We were upgraded to one during our honeymoon trip, and the beautiful courtyard view made it worth not having a tub for us.

Interesting..my husband is actually legally blind so he technically is disabled but would not ask for a handicapped room normally. It is noted on our reservation as he has difficulty walking long distances (in the sense he might get lost if we were far from the lobby) - they said they could not write on it that he is legally blind for some reason....in other words they might put us in a handicapped room anyway. Last time we were not.

I'm actually going to call when the FD comes out to see if that is a better deal so we might be able to switch.

How does the room request work? In the past we put it on the reservation itself. Do we call, fax, and when?

Posted this on the July trips list, but thought I would ask it here to. It's about my arrival day and FP+. We are arriving Sunday afternoon with reservations at Chef Mickey's at 6:20. Was thinking of taking the monorail over to MK and booking the following FP+s:
1) enchanted Tales with Belle
2) Electric Light Parade
3) wishes

Thoughts?

Normally, I wouldn't use a pass for these events but thought it could work for an arrival date.

TIA!

Since you'll be going so late, I think it might be an excellent start to your trip!

Basically you just call the regular reservations number and add it to your reservation. The regular Disney 1-407-W-DISNEY number works. There's no reason to wait, but you can add the request when you call about the free dining change. As long as the request is made before a few weeks before arrival you should be fine.

We are booked in a courtyard view on a bounce back, and when I called to see if we could switch to a woods view room, they told me that all that was available was a woods view with a bunk bed. I guess they have a lot of those available. ;)
