Is the campfire with s'mores in WL itself or do we have to boat to FW? Getting conflicting answers with google. Is it a must do?

There are s'mores at WL, but the big campfire/singalong is at the campground. The one at WL is low key and a fun walk by and stop for a few minutes. The one at the campground is that evening's activity and involves logistics.

Just checked in and our room is ready! Fifth floor North Wing. Love it! Can see Contemporary. Ahhhh

There is a small beach with playground at WL itself. The way I understand it you could play there and around 6:45 they roast marshmallows (free, not s'mores?) before they do the movie on the beach after it gets dark. The Electric Water Pageant arrives sometime around 9:30, I think.

At FW there is a dedicated area (not the beach) set up with a concession cart that sells candy, drinks, s'mores kits, marshmallows and hot dogs. They do the same thing with the campfire and movie, but before the movie Chip and Dale arrive for a 40 minute singalong/meet n greet. The characters are free but the marshmallows are not.

What time does the s'mores/marshmallows run until? I saw it starts at 6:30pm, (unless the room report thing says otherwise), but how long does it last?

DD likes to fly kites, and I was wondering if I could bring one to fly at WL...like off the beach area or something?

By kite, I mean something from the dollar area at Walmart, not something crazy!

Here is the information about the WL Marshmallow Roast from the ACTIVITIES section on the first page. The resort activity calendar, which is hyperlinked at the top Post 2, will have the current time, which is now 6:45. It is held on the beach for one hour right next to the nightly movie on the beach which starts after the campfire:

Nightly CAMPFIRE MARSHMALLOW ROAST from 7:30 - 8:30 (time changes seasonally). Marshmallow and stick provided at no charge.

I have to say I have never seen anyone flying kites at a WDW Resort. The beach area is quite narrow, but there really aren't any trees or power lines so I suppose you could try it. Usually an open field works best. The beach area at FW is much larger and wider and usually less populated. You might want to walk over to Clementine Beach at FW and try it there.

Tks! That's great...I was hoping not to miss it, but if it's going on until 8:30 we should be able to catch it!

I'm not nuts about the kite thing...but DD can have a little *I can't sit still right now* times. We've scheduled some down time at the hotel and I didn't know if I could keep her occupied with something else... and it's one less thing to have to pack if it wasn't allowed... in short, I was hoping someone would say "Kites are not allowed" :rotfl:

Kites? I thought you were asking about, umm, kilts. No, kites are NOT allowed anywhere in Lake Buena Vista. It's a kite-free zone, so sorry.

Well, if you were asking so that you could occupy DD's time, instead of kite-flying, here are some things you can do with her to fill some downtime. These are described in more detail on the the first page:

~Hidden Mickey Scavenger Hunt. Sheets are available from the concierge/front desk

~Cub's Den has activities in the afternoon

~There's a playground on the beach

~Bike rentals

~Pony rides at FW and stables

~Arcade

~VWL has chess/checkers and train models off the lobby

~Take a walk to FW. There are trails in the woods where she can see critters, it starts behind the marina and there's a concrete trail near the bus stop if you want to ride bikes

~Play in the sand on the beach

~Take the boat over to CR and watch the monorail or go shopping

~Rent a boat and take her for a ride

~Tour the grounds inside and out

So hearing about all of these folks who have a party of two getting put in a Handicapped room with a king bed, I called last night (6 days before we arrive!) to request a room with 2 queens as I need to have a bathtub to soak my ankles. I had a complete reconstruction of my left achilles in August 2012 and. I have to do the same to the right eventually, so walking doesn't necessarily always agree with me.
The CM, Ramsey, was really nice and put in the request, and when I asked to double check that the request I had made months ago of an inner courtyard view was put in, he told me no...... So he put that in too.
Hopefully we get both requests, but I will be sure to ask about the queen beds when we check in.

5 days to go! Can't wait :D

Happy Easter everyone! :)

We need to call in for the room request soon too! Did u just ask for 2 queens? Or did u say u want a bath tub as well?

How exciting! Was this your request? Isn't it great being at WL? Don't forget to try Territory Lounge;)

We just requested higher floor - we had booked Woods View. Upon check in was very excited when she showed me location on map. Yes hoping to get to Territory Lounge this week. Artist Point dinner tonight. Yummy

We are party of two. Checked in this morning - two queen beds. Was very happy and did not request

I asked for for 2 queen beds....but told the CM I needed the bathtub.
He said no problem and put in the request. Hopefully it isn't needed and we get two queens like we did last year, but I don't want to cause a kerfuffle at the front desk if they had assigned a king without my request..... Praying I don't get the King lol

Does anyone know what stops the DTD bus makes on the way to and from the WL? Does it also stop at FW and Typhoon Lagoon?

I am jealous of all of you who are there or checking in soon. Over 6 months left to wait here...and in that time I have to take the MCAT's. Give me some Disney now!!!:sad::sad:
