Just saw him on Entertainment tonight. Must say he looks really good. His face has filled out. I never found him to be super attractive and can't say I do now but he just looks like a really nice guy.
here is my question.....Why is it so important that he speaks about his private life and his orientation? Is it really that big of deal in this day and age? I mean does it really have any type of impact if he is straight or gay on his record sales? I never understood this avenue of the media. They did the same thing to Ricky Martin. Some one explain why they keep asking those question? I would much rather know tour info, album info etc....or the charity work these people do. I thought I read some where both entertainers are helping with something....any thoughts?

I agree that the media does not need to keep asking that question. Who cares what he does in his private life? And it's like, either way, he can't win. If he says "no, I'm not gay" people will still accuse of him of lying, and if he says "yes, I am" he probable fears losing some of his female fan base. I just hope that he has, or will someday find, someone to share his life with that makes him happy.

I used to be a big Clay fan (I've since moved on to a different Idol...see my sig!) but I still have a special place in my heart for him.

Yeah, I'd love to know tour info too! Like why isn't he doing more of it! Come on Clay, you've got an album to promote! But the media thrives on scandal. Face it, charity work, and album info is boring to them, sexuality and scandal appeals to more viewers, which brings in more $$$ for the network.

Sad but true.

I think Clay's a good example of what a lot of celebrities have always claimed - you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't. Right after American Idol, he actually DID address the sexuality questions, along with everything else. It didn't quiet anyone down, it didn't eliminate suspicion. So he just, now, choose to not comment at all. And look what it gets him...just continued scrutiny. :confused3

You mention charity work, and you're completely right - every bit of news re: Clay over the last week or so has been about one of four things: 1. his personal life, 2. his hair, 3. his anxiety, or 4. his album. And his album is the only thing out of those that really is important right now.

No one mentioned his work with UNICEF. No one mentioned the Bubel/Aiken Foundation. No one mentioned the fact that he was honored by President Bush last week by being named to a committee for people with special needs. None of that gets mentioned.

It's the scandals that sell. And, honestly, it has occurred to me that, perhaps, that's his PR people and his label planting those issues. Cause that's what's given Clay headlines this week.

HOWEVER

The rest of the stuff you mentioned is actually being discussed in another thread here on the Dis: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=14647459#post14647459

There are some Christmas tour dates that I've been updating, as well as info about upcoming interviews and appearances, if you're interested. Come join us! :wave2:

That clip with Clay and Diane Sawyer is just weird. I would think that someone who has been under such scrutiny about his sexual preference would have been prepared with a better response. He looked a bit psycho.

Agreed. I don't think it did anything to convince those who already think he's gay that he isn't, and for those who had no opinion, I don't think it really helped his case.

I get what he's saying, but even so....

I'm telling you, I think RCA planted those headlines. They knew what would get him the lead links on the websites and the magazine coverage.

I think CLay needs to go to teh Ricky Martin school of how to answer questions about his sexuality. Listening to that Diane Sawyer interview, he just couldn't answer the question right and got so defensive. It was to the point that it was so obvious that he is gay, then why not admit it.
