City, Sand, and Savanna - Link to new trip report

Wow, that's pretty cool seeing "Uncle Jesse".

I feel your pain Glenn. Not sure what I would do in that situation. On the one hand, yeah, how great to have that picture. But on the other hand, you want to afford him some privacy.
In the end I probably would have done the same as you.

And also, good on you for blocking out his family's faces in the photos. That's a really classy thing to do, and no, there is no sarcasm there at all. I am completely 100% serious. :thumbsup2

Arghh, there is NOTHING more frustrating that getting no Beverly reaction. It's such a disappointment.

Haha, nice "Ginger" line. And I agree, she was WAY too high maintenance. I much prefer Mary-Ann.

:lmao: on the leaf design "Welcome Glennbo family". Hmmm, now I'm starting to think Disney may be growing some "alternative" plants that perhaps you were sampling? :smokin:

Yeah, I don't think Steve'll look at your PC. Pretty sure he only knows Macs.

That's so cool that the kids did their own PP photos. James has one heck of a vertical leap!!

Great updates Glenn!

GramAndPoppyFuture.jpg

Oh NO! Poppy has the dread swiss cheese head!

So, Glen, its been so long since you posted that I was sure you dropped off the DIS boards. So glad that wasn't the case.

John Stamos - now that IS a legit celebrity sighting. Quite honestly the paparazzi in me likes the pictures better of you stalking John Stamos than if you were actually in the picture. I mean - you HAD to take those pictures, right? And to think you waited over a year to post them. What restraint!

I have to admit, I would have loved to see John Stamos pose with your parents.
That would have been a hoot.

On a side note - He still is pretty darn cute!

Great update. Well worth waiting a month for. :rolleyes1

Let me just say that John Stamos is looking mighty fine at his age. :goodvibes

What a fun update, Glenn. From your spotting a celebrity, to wonderful photopass pictures, your ride on Spaceship Earth your daughter drawing with a broom...this was an update that brought many smiles.

Glenn didn't you rush to find some yoghurt or John Stamos:rotfl2:'m with Gram I love Fiogment to Really great SE pix of you and Judy !!!

That's sooo cool about seeing John Stamos! He has aged very well might I add! ;) I agree that I think you made the right decision to hang back and not invade their space. But you do have a couple photos. :thumbsup2 You can always take your SE photo and photoshop yourself in!! :lmao:

Loved the SE narration - including the least photographed mannequin. Yep, don't have a photo of him in my collection. :)

Lovely collection of family photos at the entrance to Epcot.

Ahhhh... all caught up! Finally! :happytv:

Fantastic find with the Stamos pic... btw, that was incredibly polite of you to fuzz out his family's faces! :thumbsup2

I understand about the non reaction to Beverly... I had taken a trip with DD's bestie and her Mom to ATL and we went to World of Coke (the museum, bottling company etc etc) I had her try Beverly and it totally made up for the lack of response I got from my DH at Club Cool!! I also was lucky enough to get pics of our DD's trying coke for the first time! HA! :rotfl:

Cant wait to read up about the Fireworks! We only have 6 days left till we are back visiting the Mouse!! :cool1:

I don't have time to do replies, but I know if I wait much longer on the Judy game results that people will think there's still a "sighting" out there yet to be found. Dee, you were so fast; and Michelle, you were so close! But as much as I hate to admit it, the one who hit the exact numbers that were given to me by the Rules Committee (ahead of posting the chapter) was...Marv. Michelle, you probably helped him by reminding him about the video. I'm not sure which one you missed that he picked up, maybe the Conga line one.

Well, congratulations Marv on extending your lead! :cheer2:

Glennbo!! Is that really you? :faint: Glad to see you back! :)

Not only back, but with a mega update!! :yay:

The pictures of y'all on SE are hilarious!! For some reason ours never work out. :confused3

John Stamos huh? I always thought he was a pretty good looking guy, still is. ::yes:: :thumbsup2
I wonder if that indeed is his mother? I have a little story about him.
Back in 1990 I lived in southern Calif. for a short time, one day my dad and I had to pick up a prescription and it just so happened to be in a retirement community not far from where my dad lived. It was called Leisure World, nice area but when you drove into that neighborhood you felt like you stepped into a time warp, everything moved in s l o o o o o w m o o o o t i o n.

Any who.....my dad and I walked into the drug store and while he was getting the scrip, I decided I needed a couple of things. I stepped into line to pay for my items and there was this older gentlemen who had 10-15 bottles of red hair dye on the conveyer belt, red dye just like the red hair you see in the picture of the woman in the wheel chair (I'll never forget that color of red). He told me he was buying it for his wife since there were coupons in the paper and it was on sale.
We got to talking and come to find out this guy was none other than John Stamos's uncle, and let me tell you, he really wanted to be sure I knew that about him. :rotfl: The way he told me was so hilarious, I bet that man had just about every possible way to segway into being John's uncle nailed down. :rotfl2:
He even took out his wallet and showed me several pictures of Mr. Stamos, high school picture and all! His uncle was very proud of his nephew. This is one of the pictures he showed me...

:rotfl: except it was in color. I about busted out laughing when he showed me that one, but not as bad as I wanted to laugh when he showed me some the candid shots he had of John and himself in his wallet. As if to prove he really knew him! :rotfl: It was so cute.

His uncle was so sweet. I wonder if the aunt and his mom have the same "red" hair or if that's his aunt?!? I guess we'll never know since you didn't go up and ask to be his new best friend, Glenn! :rotfl:

But as much as I hate to admit it, the one who hit the exact numbers that were given to me by the Rules Committee (ahead of posting the chapter) was...Marv. Michelle, you probably helped him by reminding him about the video. I'm not sure which one you missed that he picked up, maybe the Conga line one.

So close...maybe next time. I did miss the Conga line one. Nevertheless, it was a fun update to read. Very cool that you got to see John Stamos. I am so oblivious to other people that I could have been in line with John Stamos and would never have seem him. What I really wanted to know was what did the hat he was wearing really look like. In the photo, it looked like a winter toboggan hat, but surely he wasn't wearing something like that in the summer.

Uncle Jessie!!!! :thumbsup2

What a great Epcot day. Love the "future" pics. And it sounds like the kids found a lot of fun things to do on their own as well.

More great PP pics too.

Wow Mega Updates!

So cool that you saw John Stamos and he appreciated your low key reaction.:thumbsup2 I'm sure his family would like to just have a regular day out like everyone else.

Love the Glen and Judy of the future! :rotfl2: Looks like you are going to be hypochondriac! :lmao:

Glad the kids had so much fun, and Marlene did a great job on the Mickey painting - maybe she could do that for a Summer job! :goodvibes

Nice family pics at Epcot! Don't tell anyone you remember the Dating Game - What are you talking about? :rotfl2:

I nudged Judy and said, "It's John Stamos!"

"Who?", she said.

"You know...Uncle so-and-so from 'Full House', and Blackie from 'General Hospital', and who knows what else."

"Oh yeah, you’re right." She said. (As you can see, living with me all of these years, Judy is only mildly impressed by other celebrities.)

Yeah, that must be it. ;)

So much for being discrete...he caught me. Then, he made the coolest rockstar move ever: he flashed me a peace sign. It conveyed so much. Like:

"Dude, I see you, seeing me. Thanks for keeping your distance."

And...

"You are keeping your distance, right?"

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

He certainly doesn't look like he minded taking a picture with them, and that kind of made me feel like a schmuck for not asking myself, but I still think it was the right thing to do.

I'm sure he gets that a lot. I probably would have opted for letting him enjoy his vacation in peace as well.:thumbsup2

Celebrity-sighting over, onward we went. To China. Look at the kid trying on a mask on the right side of this picture.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

We quickly went through these countries (as quickly as we could) because we had one attraction on Gram's "must do" list: Journey into Imagination. I know what you're thinking -- "Journey into Unimagination? Seriously?" Yes, seriously.

 How did you know?

Anyway, I'm shocked! Shocked! There was no line.

Beverly dispensed, here we go.

No reaction really. I was so bummed.

Booo. That is very disappointing.

And who knew, maybe they'd be inspired to start farming with hydroponics!

Soo...did it work?:confused3

Hmm, I'm having trouble finding a pummelo smilie.

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
I just got a pummelo...

Man, poetry is hard.

I had trouble making out what this leaf design said, but decided that it reads "Welcome Glennbo family. We think you're #1! Enjoy your visit to Disney's Epcot theme park." Then after our tram went by a bunch of cast members ran out to change it to "John Stamos family".

What's that you say? It's just the Epcot logo? Well that's ridiculous.

But still cool.

Speaking of ridiculous, these two (count 'em two) tomato plants are ridiculously awesome! Wouldn't it be cool to have them on your deck to provide shade and the occasional jar of salsa?

I would totally go for that!

This next picture proves that cacti and and brussel sprouts can in fact, live together in perfect harmony.

This makes cacti pretty much the only living thing that can co-exist with brussel sprouts. :crazy2:

And the least photographed mannequin in Spaceship Earth, the guy being upstaged by go-go boots woman.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

My picture was perfect for it, because every day I wake up just like this:

:lmao: Nice work!

Since they'd found us on the way out and we were all together, we thought we'd get one last group Photopass picture (or three or four) before leaving.

Lots of great shots here!

As we neared the buses, we saw a cast member doing some sidewalk art with water and a broom. He quickly recruited Marlene to help him.

Very cool! She did good work.:thumbsup2

I nudged Judy and said, "It's John Stamos!"
I loved Full House. I think my favorite was when they went to Disney World. Please tell me they were filming a sequel.:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

So much for being discrete...he caught me. Then, he made the coolest rockstar move ever: he flashed me a peace sign. It conveyed so much. Like:

"Dude, I see you, seeing me. Thanks for keeping your distance."

And...

"You are keeping your distance, right?"
:thumbsup2 :rotfl2::rotfl:

And finally, the thought that decided it for me was, "The poor guy is on vacation, having family time. Let him enjoy it."

I decided to let my paparazzi-style picture be the one I'd use in the trip report. No shot of me and my brush with a celebrity.
I've got to say, I think you did the right thing here. I would have done the same.

Unless of course he was in the Grand Floridian by the piano... you know that whole Full House thing. If you could get a picture with Uncle Jesse in the GF lobby there is no way you could say no to that. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

But hey, she's obviously his fan, in every sense of the word!
Well played, Glenn. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Waaay back, over Christmas 1983, we took a family trip to WDW and this was my mom's favorite attraction.
See... that ride used to be one of the best in the park. It may just be a shadow of itself now, but some people still remember it in its glory! :lmao:

No reaction really. I was so bummed.
I think the typical Beverly reaction is just done based on expectation, rather than surprise. I mean it isn't "good" or something I'd go out of my way to drink, but it isn't the worst thing I've ever tried. :confused3

I filed that away for future reference, to use that hallway in times when it's raining or super-hot, like today was.
You found all kinds of "secret" passages on this trip. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I've seen lots of trip reports with Nine Pound Lemons much bigger than these. I think these have a ways to go.
Tecnically, they should change that sign. They aren't Nine Pound Lemons yet. They're probably more like 4 1/2 pound lemons.

Speaking of ridiculous, these two (count 'em two) tomato plants are ridiculously awesome! Wouldn't it be cool to have them on your deck to provide shade and the occasional jar of salsa?
Don't tempt me to try it... :scratchin

As we neared the buses, we saw a cast member doing some sidewalk art with water and a broom. He quickly recruited Marlene to help him.
Coo! Nice job, Marlene! :thumbsup2

you could have at least done the stand ther eand have someone else in your party take the picture with him in the background...then you would have been in it without having to ask him.

:)

Exactly. Only thing is, I thought that my crunch time was going to be a couple of months ago...it was, but it hasn't let up much since.

Me too :scared:

Whattaya think?

IMG_6744.jpg

No reaction really. I was so bummed.

I think that pictures speaks volumes. :rotfl2:

But as much as I hate to admit it, the one who hit the exact numbers that were given to me by the Rules Committee (ahead of posting the chapter) was...Marv. Michelle, you probably helped him by reminding him about the video. I'm not sure which one you missed that he picked up, maybe the Conga line one.

Congrats Marv. Stalker.... :tiptoe:

Well, I'll try to knock some replies out. I'll have to get to more later. Have a great weekend everyone!

1/4 0

2/4 2 Judys- Club Cool Machine (hair) and hallway (green shirt)

3/4 1 Judy (LwTL, hair)

4/4 6 Judys in the future

Will edit in picture numbers

I was impressed with how fast you were Dee! :teleport:

UNCLE JESSE!!!! I love him.

Glad I could liven’-up my trip report with him for you Kathy.

I'll be back to respond to the rest later.

Looking forward to it.

You saw Uncle Jesse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so impressed. :)

Right place at the right time. ;)

Sorry about commando posting before you were done-

No problem. I do get them all ready to go before posting though, as a way to prevent that, but the darned waiting-period-between-posts kept me from getting them all posted before you came in. I know that the competition is fierce, so I don’t blame you -- be as quick as you can be!

I'm quoting myself so it doesn't look like I am cheating.

I certainly wouldn’t accuse you of that!

I've really enjoyed reading about your trip report and decided to join in on the fun and join the Judy hunt. 19 Judys

Part 1 - 2 Judys (8, 14)
Part 2 - 2 Judys (1...corner of Judy's sleeve, 4)
Part 3 - 7 Judys (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, video)
Part 4 - 8 Judys (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12)

I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Thanks for joining in the hunt. :)

I think you did the right thing not bugging the famous person.....I think they are better observed from afar...through a zoom lens...it's what they're used to.;)

Thanks Cherie!

I had a famous person sighting once in D.C. at the Smithsonian....can't think of the word but it has a ton of plants..:confused3..... it was Laura Bush when she was 1st Lady. Of course I whipped out my camera and started snapping away....and then she walked over to me and asked if I wanted to have my picture taken with her.:thumbsup2 So I have a picture with Laura Bush , me and my sister in law...which ended up on the front page of my local paper.....that's how small of a town I live in.:lmao:

Great story! I’m sure that it ended up in Laura’s local paper too.

but back to you....

Well that’s more like it.

your postcard from space was hilarious! I've never seen one where the head looks like it actually goes with the body! :p But, if I were Judy and you did wake up every morning looking that happy to be awake, your mornings would also start with you getting smacked upside the head with my pillow.

Thanks, I agree! I think the pictures conveyed it well, how my picture went with that animated body. Between that and my expression, we just laughed and laughed.

No headsmacking will be necessary, I was being totally sarcastic that I wake up like that. ;)

commando posting....does that involve no undies?:rolleyes1

omgblinky.gif

I'll never tell!!!

Actually maybe it was Ninja posting.

No undies but with a mask.

smiley_ninja.gif

So you were posting wearing only a mask?

Hey, I believe it. This is my TR we’re talkin’ about.

Beat me to it, but I agree with cmaee's count!

........at least for now........... :rolleyes1

Get out your :magnify:

Okay, after careful consideration, revising my answer to something slightly different than cmaee:

2 Judy's
2 Judy's
8 Judy's
8 Judy's

In the third update, the 19th picture (the one right before your emailed version that they reversed the two of you) on the right hand side, that is Judy's "hand" you are holding in the conga line, and more importantly, a small piece of her hair all by itself level with your face just in the edge of the picture............

So a total of 20 Judy's!

Nailed it.

Wow, that's pretty cool seeing "Uncle Jesse".

Definitely some good trip report material!

I feel your pain Glenn. Not sure what I would do in that situation. On the one hand, yeah, how great to have that picture. But on the other hand, you want to afford him some privacy.
In the end I probably would have done the same as you.

Thanks Rob, that’s reassuring to hear.

And also, good on you for blocking out his family's faces in the photos. That's a really classy thing to do, and no, there is no sarcasm there at all. I am completely 100% serious. :thumbsup2

I figured it was the right thing to do, but it wasn’t all because I’m so pious.
angel.gif
(Even though I am.) I also considered the possibility that I might hear from him (or more accurately, his lawyers) in a negative way, so thought hey, let’s just avoid all of that.

But it also caused a couple of days delay in me getting the chapter posted..the Photobucket edit function really sucks now. It took me a while to figure out how to do it. It used to be so much better; more options and easier to use! I don’t know why they took 3 giant steps backwards with that functionality.

Arghh, there is NOTHING more frustrating that getting no Beverly reaction. It's such a disappointment.

I know! I’d been waiting for that moment for months.

Haha, nice "Ginger" line. And I agree, she was WAY too high maintenance. I much prefer Mary-Ann.

‘zactly. High maintenance.

:lmao: on the leaf design "Welcome Glennbo family". Hmmm, now I'm starting to think Disney may be growing some "alternative" plants that perhaps you were sampling? :smokin:

But if I could get a Rx...

Yeah, I don't think Steve'll look at your PC. Pretty sure he only knows Macs.

Ha, you’re right…I hadn’t thought of that!

That's so cool that the kids did their own PP photos. James has one heck of a vertical leap!!

Thanks, I told him that you said that. (Well, that somebody on the Disboards said that. YouknowhatImean.)

Great updates Glenn!

Thanks!

Love your TR writing style. You crack me up :rotfl: How cool you saw Uncle Jesse! In another TR there was a mention of seeing him in the park. I seem to remember reading he's a big fan of the parks. I really enjoy your reports - thanks for all the updates :cool1:

Great update, Glenn! I was just starting to worry that you were trying to beat my record for longest time between updates ever! ;)

That's really cool that you got to see Uncle Jesse, and not even eating any yoghurt!

I love it that the kids got to have such a good time in Epcot on their own. And you've trained them so well when it comes to Photopass pics!

I think you should have that Your Future pic (the one of you getting out of bed) framed, hang it on the wall somewhere. Use it for future alumni catalogs and the like.

I thought:
"Oh, how great would that be for the trip report?!!"

:)

"But he's with his family -- young girls, his mother (I assume) in a wheelchair."

:guilty:

"But oh, how great would that be for the trip report?!!"

:)

"There's that Disney cast member with a walkie-talkie, ready to call Security at a moment’s notice."

:guilty:

And that's NEVER a good thing, just ask Rosie........

"But do you realize how awesome it would be to put a picture of me with Uncle what's-his-name in my trip report?!"

:)

And finally, the thought that decided it for me was, "The poor guy is on vacation, having family time. Let him enjoy it."
This is the final decision I usually lean towards! I figure there are times that they have to be thinking........."It sure would be nice if I could just go out in public and have a normal day like everyone else."

Remind me to tell you my Robin Williams story sometime...........

d056a141-6188-4193-8a02-bba6157d1990_zps1c04f2b2.jpg

But hey, she's obviously his fan, in every sense of the word!
:rotfl2:

Waaay back, over Christmas 1983, we took a family trip to WDW and this was my mom's favorite attraction. It was closed for renovations in 2001, the last time she was here, so we definitely had to get her there this time. It was so hot out though, walking through those last couple of countries in the World Showcase, and then into Future World. I wanted to hurry in order to get out of the heat sooner, but my troops could only go so fast. We eventually made it, (the A/C felt wonderful!) and we had almost no wait for the ride.
WHAT? No wait for Journey Into Imagination??? I can't possibly imagine why................ :confused3

Beverly dispensed, here we go.
Whattaya think?
IMG_6744.jpg

No reaction really. I was so bummed.
Yes, it is always disappointing when a good practical joke flops before your very eyes............. :sad2:

She was great on "Gilligan’s Island", but I was always more of a Mary Ann guy.
IMG_6758.jpg
:thumbsup2

This next picture proves that cacti and and brussel sprouts can in fact, live together in perfect harmony.
IMG_6769.jpg
Just not on MY plate................ :)

Actually, until I detected from the other four plants that it was the root system I was looking at, I was thinking "now how did that bird get in there feeding on the plants like that?" , when I first looked at the plant on the right.

As mentioned above, the kids had gotten some Photopass pictures taken while they were off on their own. They were really excited about the poses and couldn't wait for us to see them, especially the jumping one. They thought that was so cool.
Photo0158FourBySix.jpg
Really cool that Lauren could hold James up in the air like that by only the back of his neck!!! :rolleyes1

Since they'd found us on the way out and we were all together, we thought we'd get one last group Photopass picture (or three or four) before leaving.
Photo0168FourBySix.jpg
Really great family photo! I like everything about this one! :goodvibes
