We had dinner in the castle on Saturday 9/23. When you first walk in, you get a photo session with Cindy. This is included in the proce, so you do not have to buy the photos as you do at some of the other places.
When you are called upstairs, you will not see Cindy again. The fairy godmother and two mice (Perla and Suzy) do come out and do a little dance and run around the room a bit. They sing a song or two and then they are gone as well. Character interaction is minimal, but they will stop for a photo if you have your camera and your kid ready.
I personally thought the dinner offerings were very good. My wife and I both started out with the Applewood Bacon Salad, which was quite tasty. I had prime rib for dinner, while the wife opted for the tortelini offering. My prime rib was cooked to order, and was delicious. My wife did enjoy her meal as well. Our kids shared the kid standard chicken strips, mashed potatos and veggies. I had a bite of the chicken, and it was pretty good. The kids get a small cheese plate with grapes, veggies and dip on it for an appetizer. The kids both had a small ice cream sundae for dessert, while I had the blueberry buckle, and my lady had the chocolate mousse cake with raspberry drizzle. She said it was quite yummy.
There is something to be said about eating in the castle. It is a very quaint and rustic looking space. Once the little show is over, it is kind of quiet, as the seating is limited (158 I think). My kids are Cindy nuts, so we HAD to do this meal. I would recommend it for both the food and the atmosphere. If you are looking for character interaction, do the breakfast or lunch at the castle, or do any of the Akershus PSB meals in Epcot. We did a lunch there that was quite good as well, and only used one table service credit for it.
Just so you know, the all ears board still states that you get a special lithograph in addition to your pictures when you have dinner at the castle. According to the manager at the castle, these are all gone.
Hope this helps!
