Ok Disney experts... where would I find a picture of Cinderella's castle when it looked like a cake. I have seen pictures in the past, but can't find them now. Also what year was this done?

Thanks!

(Whispering)......I liked it too!

I LOVED IT!!!!!!!! Yes, I'm shouting, lol. Of course, pink is my favorite color and it just looked scrumptious and frilly to me. I thought it was awesome.

I loved it too! *runs for cover*

We were there in Aug 1997 for the 25th Anniversary of WDW and the cake was complete at that time. I too, did not do any research before I left, so was in for quite a shock. It was my daughter's first time seeing the castle. She was 9 at the time. Upon seeing it, for a fleeing moment, I thought, 'hmmm, she doesn't get to see the castle in it's original glory,' but I quickly dismissed that idea since I thought the castle cake was an awesome sight to behold.

My daughter is now 15 and has since seen the castle sans frosting and sprinkles. Today, I asked her how she felt about seeing the castle for the first time dressed in frosting. She said, "I loved it! What do you expect, I was nine! It was a cake!"

I think the cake was beautiful, magical, and the stuff dreams are made of (even though some think of it more as a nightmare ;))

 Thanks for the pictures! My husband and I were discussing the castle as a cake and I remember seeing some pictures and wanted to show him! The detail is amazing! How long did it take them to complete the transformation?

We were there in September of whatever year that was, '95? and they were still working on it. Looked pretty bad and I was disappointed because it was DGD#1's first time seeing the castle and I didn't know it was undergoing it's "transformation" (I didn't do any research. ) But, that was okay because she was just 2 and didn't remember it anyway.:)

I have one hanging on my "picture" wall in our hallway...I'd mail it to ya! I thought it was terrible.

To this day my 2 DD's remember being dissapointed. They kept asking where Cinderella's castle was...not the cake...

"where is the REAL castle??"

That year was our family's 1st time visiting WDW. My kids were thrilled with the castle cake, in fact they've been waiting for them to change it back ever since!

I was there in March '96 and it was not transformed yet. Does anyone know when it changed to the cake?

I started the college program in Aug 1996, it was almost complete at that time.

I'm so glad to see this post...I have copied that pic for my husband to see.

We were at DL last week, and we were looking at the photos of how Aurora's castle will be "re-vamped" for the 50th (a sore substitute for the blue tarp now covering the castle), and a group of people came by, and after looking at the pics said, "Hmmm...does anyone remember the "Castle Cake" fiasco?" They all started laughing, and were suggestion that the gaudiness of the renovations would resemble the cake at WDW. I had NEVER heard of this...so I am so happy to find pics!!!
