Cigarette Lighter ban on flights

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most airports will still cary lighters.

It's the firearms that are gonna be a bear to find nowadays.

Now I don't believe everything I hear on the news, but on the news radio station this morning they said that you can't carry lighters in checked luggage either.

That is correct, you cannot put a lighter in your checked baggage (you cannot do that even now). I said that earlier in the thread.
