What are "terror jails"? Jails that are filled with "terror" or terrorists? Would you like the vermin shipped to the UK?

Well...if the other country doesn't want them there either, that's understandable. We really have no right to conduct business in another country unless we're welcome there. We wouldn't want another country to ship their criminals here (although The Powers That Be appear to condone it in some instances).

Both I presume

I wouldn't assume anything. We are engaged in a global war on terror. Why would it be shocking or surprising or disturbing or "worrying" if other countries chose to contribute to the effort against terrorism by providing detention centers or jails?

Assuming this is 100% true, why should I be concerned? Stopping terror attacks is a bad thing? Or did I miss something?

I thought the point was that countries thought we were using their land without permission.

Well....if that's not the point, then I don't see a problem. Criminals have to be detained somewhere and, if these places are offering, then so what??

Why hide it unless there's something to hide?

Because other countries don't treat prisoners the same way Americans are SUPPOSED to - if this Administration had been honest with the way they conducted this war I'd give the CIA the benefit of the doubt, but in light of all the lies, misrepresentations, abuses, and corruption, the idea of "secret" prisons in foreign countries just sends up huge red flags for the possiblity of abuse and torture.

If America wants to regain respect in the world, our leaders need to start earning it. For me personally, this administration has lost all respect and can't be trusted with anything. It's going to be a long 3 years....

I'm not really sure what the real issue is? I personally think it's another attempt to put more negative attention on the President. I'm sure these "secret" jails have exsisted for awhile. Why they are now being made aware of makes a red flag go up in my mind. What is the real reason they have been "exposed." Should we open up "secret resorts and spa's" for these killers of innocent people? Would that make America more respected around the world? I think not. I'm glad Bush's resolve is not weak or based on poll numbers. Let's finish what we started. We live in different times. I hope we don't forget that.

Lets see.

If they were to announce to the world, "Hey terror guys, we are holding you buddies in jails located at 1313 Mocking Bird Lane, but we know juts because you send suicide bombers all over the place, you won't come try to break them out or attack us so we don't mind acknowledging where we are located".

So what did Clinton do with all the terrorists he detained?

Ah yes, a common distortion. Terrorists the world over are NOT an organised army that will attempt a full frontal attack on a high security prison.

Buh

I don't know, do tell.

I know that the British Government used to put IRA murderers into non-secret jails and y'know, that worked just fine. That's the same IRA that blew up half of the Government at the time and almost killed the Iron Lady. The same IRA that carried out many, many regular attacks on the British mainland. Heck, it worked better than this super-secret method - there was no controversy, it worked as a show of force (we're not afraid to tell the terrorists where their comrades are) and it also dismissed any notion that torture was being committed (the public eye kept watch).

This always make me lol. Terrorism is not a new thing, it's been around since the dawn of time. Ever heard of ETA? The IRA? These people have been around for decades.

And you know what? They haven't changed one bit. They remain thugs.

I don't know either. I'm just curious since it seems as though the conclusion is that Bush set them up and Bush is the only President to ever use the tactic of sending prisoners/terrorists/criminals to other countries without sending out a press release. I genuinely want to know the answer.

So you are assuming that the countries where these "secret prisons" are supposedly located share your sense of outrage, and that they have no idea what is happening there (and the loads of "foreign aid" being poured in have no impact)?

So, which countries does the use need to get respect from? France? Please. Just because you are against the current administration does not mean that everyone is. Everyone has a chance to vote. If you don't like the administration, put up someone for President who can actually win (hint: his name should not be Hillary).

Actually, I'm curious too now. Anyone?

I just don't know why we focus so much on foreign terrorism. Focus on the HOMELAND.

To me it makes MUCH more sense to tighten security at home. The U.S. is a far smaller area than the world. I understand the idea of stopping terrorism before it gets here but there are over 170 countries int he world there is no way we can find every single terrorist in every single country and stop them.

Ali Baba the Terrorist 7000 miles from me without a penny to his name isn't really a threat to me. But Ali Baba the Terrorist who comes in to our country due to our lax borders and immigration policy (do immigrants have to undergo background/security checks??), boards an Amtrak train that has no visible security at all, and proceeds to ride into Union Station and blow himself up, IS more of a threat.
