Yes I have picked up the sword I am a Veteran (first gulf War) of the United states Army and proud of it. My father is a Vet (Vietnam) My older brother is a warrant officer in the US army, My younger brother is also a Vet from the first Gulf War, and my youngest Brother Just returned from operation Iraqi Freedom last Friday so yes me and my family have and always will be ready to defend this country.

NO! I do not or ever have believed in the torture or mis treatment of any detainee/POW it's not right.

And this is why these type of discussion truly disapoint me. There's a world of possibility between vengence and surrender for those who are willing to engage in the complexity of the issue.

But that's what this thread is supposed to be about, right? Torture? And whether the U.S. has the right to torture suspects who might be able to supply information?

I wish more people would make this distinction, actually. You can support the war and NOT support the use of torture. But people are so rabid these days that any criticism of the current administration is treated like treason.

Anyway, thank you for your family's service. Many in my family have served as well, Army and Marines. But I guess that doesn't count for much these days if someone is against the current war.

I thought the thread was about secret dentition camps for terrorist suspects in countries outside of U.S. or U.S. authority, the Toucher subject was only implied.

We are a country of freedom, that is why I will always defend the right of someone to disagree with me and an administration that I happen to support.

True diplomacy is not an "either/or" situation. It is knowing when to use the appropriate resources at the appropriate time. Sometimes discussion will work; other times action is essential.

I didn't respond to this because, I honestly don't believe you. This sounds incredibly disingenuous coming from someone who supports an administration who exhibits zero ability for "true diplomacy." Bush's failures in diplomacy will fill history books.

Secret evidence that might have been obtained by torture cannot be used against terror suspects in UK courts, the law lords have ruled.

I may not think torture is ok, but if we find a terrorist we should help the find what ever supreme being they believe in and help arrange a meeting!

As long as the suspects in the story stay in your country with you and not in mine.
