Where do you hang your Christmas stockings?

Do you hang stockings for your pets?

When do you open the stockings?

We hang our Christmas stockings on the staircase banister. Henry, our kitty, has a stocking, but it's hanging from the front of the post and not visible in the picture. Rapunzel, our guinea pig, has a teeny, tiny stocking that we attach to her cage with a paper clip.:rotfl:

Our tradition has always been to open our stockings first thing Christmas morning, followed by a big breakfast, then gift opening.

How about your family? Show us your stockings!:)

I don't have pictures taken yet but we hang them over the fireplace. Our dog has a small stocking but I forgot to hang it up--better do that.

We let the kids open their stocking when they get up Christmas morning. I make Monkey Bread for Christmas morning and they eat that until everyone is up then we open presents.

We hang ours on our mantle, the pets (dogs and cats) get ones too. Usually after Santa fills them he lays them on the hearth as they are too heavy to hang.

We have this same problem, I've talked to the big guy about this before but it never helps...this year I bought the personalized Santa bags from Pottery Barn Kids so he can stuff the extra in there and mabye the stockings can still hang Christmas morning. (unless he overstuffs those too...:rolleyes1 )

I bought a tall Santa with hooks to hang the stockings on since we don't have a mantel on the fireplace. Stockings are always opened last at our house--my ex and I used to argue about this every year since they were opened first at his home growing up. ;)

We hang ours on the mantle. We usually end up opening them last, but that's just the way things end-up, not because it's a rule or custom or anything.

No pets, but since we always have one grandparent or another staying with us, they get stockings on the mantle, too.

We lay the empty stockings (made by my step-Grandmother with our name on them) at the base of the tree on Christmas Eve. They're filled in the morning when DD gets up. And I have to add that I wish GM had not put tiny bells on them! It makes for a torturous fill-job as DD is just around the corner.

Right now they are on the front of the TV stand... Pets have stockings too and they are on the side of the TV stand.
We open first thing Xmas morning :)

If they are heavy, they are on the floor when we get up xmas am ;)

We don't have a fireplace or staircase so DS hangs his on the entertainment center. DH usually works on Christmas (12am-8am) and doesn't get home until 9am so DS is allowed to open his stocking before DH gets home, but has to wait for presents. DH and I have stockings, but they don't get hung up anymore. The cat doesn't have one either, but I may get her one this year.

We have 2 stocking. One at the IL's which hang above the fireplace. The decorative ones we have at our apartment. Those hang around the archway to the living room. We each have one, Me, DH, Bailey, and Tigger (our cats)

Everyone in the family has a stocking, including furry members. They all hang on the mantle.

This is Lucy's first Christmas with us so I am on the hunt for the perfect stocking for her. I found a hot pink and glitter one I may get. She's our Miniature Schnauzer that we adopted last Feb - she spent last Xmas in a shelter. =(

We usually open them Xmas Eve, but it's just DH and I right now.

We hang ours off the mantle. We open them right after the kids go gaga over what Santa left them (at our house, Santa leaves one big -usually expensive thing they really wanted - unwrapped gift in front of the fireplace). Our dog gets a stocking and really looks forward to it (it usually has treats, a new toy or two, and a can of "wet" dog food - a definite treat to him).

I don't have a picture on this computer; I'll have to see if I can find one to scan.

Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care...(well, the mantle actually). Hehe.

We open them first thing Christmas morning. That keeps the kids occupied while I make coffee and breakfast. After we eat we tear into Santa gifts.

No mantle here in HI, and we have stairs but no banister, so they are carefully hung w/pushpins going up the stairs. We even put up DH's, even though he's not home for Christamas this year. Once Santa fills them, he'll stick them under the tree because the pushpins won't hold them LOL!

My kids open stockings first too!

The mantle/fireplace runs the length of the room so about 15 feet. We have one section that holds the stockings in the days leading up to Christmas. Santa can't hang them back up as he stuffs them (always an apple and an orange in them). So they end up on the couch.

With no mantle or open staircase we don't put out the stockings for decoration.

The tradition I had growing up I continued with my kids...Santa fills the stockings and lays them at the foot of the kids beds. Christmas morning we woke up my parents but we couldn't go downstairs until my dad had gone and picked up the grandparents. While he was doing that my mom would be making coffee. We could come downstairs once all the adults were seated and had a cup of coffee in hand. So while we were waiting we were allowed to open our stockings and play with anything in there.

While we don't have to pick up the grandparents, and neither DH or I drink coffee we still have Santa leave the stockings on the kids beds. When they were little it would get us at least a half hour more of sleep:rolleyes1 :santa:

We hang our stockings from the fireplace mantle. Santa usually has to leave them laying on the floor on Christmas morning because he overpacks them. Last year, Santa brought so many stocking stuffers that he filled the kids' stockings AND left Christmas buckets filled with stuff too.

As a Tradition carried on from my family, the kids are allowed to open their stockings as soon as they get up on Christmas morning as long as they let Mom and Dad (... okay usually just Mom) sleep till 8 a.m. I have great Christmas memories of getting up with my brother at 3 or 4 a.m. and opening our stockings.... then going back to sleep. :rotfl2:

Tina and Turbo (our 2 bunnies) share a stocking
usually filled with treats!
They (DH, DS, mine & theirs) are all hung on the stairs

Our dog Bella has a Belle stocking and hangs it with the kids on the mantle.

We hang ours on the fireplace mantle, my in-laws do not have a mantle so they hang them on the stairs. We open our presents first and when all is said and done we go for the stockings. When my kitty was alive you bet he had a stocking, he was part of our family!
