My brother-in-law is planning to join us for our trip beginning on 12/26. We are staying at VWL, so we were hoping he could stay at WL to be close by, share amenities (mostly pool) etc. But when I checked for room rates, Disney gave me $350/night.

Is that the usual for that season? Could rates drop as it gets closer? I don't suppose there's any chance of an AP discount at that time, right?

Right now he's thinking of staying at a Value resort instead, but that will be pretty inconvenient for all of us, especially since we won't be able to hang out at the pool together.

Any ideas or advice?

The time you are planning to visit is the most expensive time to visit Holiday Season: 12/20 - 12/31 They usually don't have any discounts for this time period. (Sorry) :confused3

Even the rooms at a Value start at $119.00 a night.

I paid 350.00 a night last December, but it was concierge (with breakfast/snacks/drinks) I don't recall what the non concierge room rate was :confused3

How about trying to rent points for a studio at VWL? It might be too late, but it looks like it's 19 points for Sun - Thurs. People may not be willing to rent for $10/point at Christmas, but $190 (or a little more) sounds pretty reasonable for a room.

Ya know, kda, that's not a bad idea. I maxed out my own points for that stay, but I hadn't considered renting some more.

Thanks for the ideas, folks.
