Christmas Shopping 2010

Well I have not got to do any shopping all week but I did start a new job Monday morning and my first paycheck is the week of Thanksgiving which means extra money!:) Plan to do some shopping this weekend! DH gets paid today and I can finally pay for the items in my carts at TRU, AG and WM.

Mmmm.. I have to say, that's a new one to me.

I got in close on the thing and it looks like there are actually some screws in it to hold it in place.. That shows it might hold up a little better than a Zhu Zhu Hamster Ball right off the bat :)

(enjoy the chuckle those of you with that toy!)

.... I dunno. I'll see what I can find out, but, it does at least look like they put some thought into it with the visible screws in the picture.

But, if you watch the video from the company, it does look like it gets a little messy :

http://www.youtube.com/user/mindwaretoys#p/u/16/kuB2BO5GFag

That's probably the best way to get an idea on it. They are of course going to want to show it in it's best light... So, if you think that you might find it troublesome with what you see on their video....

I think you know what I'm getting at. But, no first hand experience here. Sorry! But, take a look at that video. You'll either be sold or happy you looked!

If I come up with anything else, I'll let ya know!

I looked at the video....it didn't even look like it made ice cream...is it just me or is it still liquid at the end?

I was out all day yesterday and pretty much finished up my DD.
I picked up the Barbie remote control car, and the Barbie fashion Desinger set from TRU and got a free Barbie storage thingy. Also from TRU I got the baby Alive and 2 refils and got a free 30 pack refill pack.
I also picked up the magic fabric. I was able to use my 10 off 75 AND got a 10 GC for later. I will use that to pick up the Trouble Game she wanted.
From Target I got the Fur Real walking pup, The DQ ice cream maker thing and the Loopz. Oh and her AA Holiday Barbie(she collects them-she has one for each year she was born).
Add that to what I already had. All 9 of the Disney Princess dolls, Minnie Mouse Back Scratcher,Junie B. Complete Set , and Amelia Bedelia books. I think she is pretty good! Ijust want to get her a couple DS games.
NOW.. I need to work on my newphews 8 and 5 and my parents.

I was thinking of getting my nephew the Hexbugs...has anyone gotten those?

Thank you Ed for your advice. I figured after that happened that that's what needed to be done. BUT..... I called around all day yesterday until I wanted to pull my hair out and I came across the BEST EMPLOYEE IN THE WORLD! She called store after store and not only found me Ghoulia and Lagoona Blue but was picking them up at the other store and bringing them in to her store right by my house for me to pick up. I got Ghoulia from her this morning and she is getting Lagoona Blue for me tomorrow. That was coming in from a store even further away. Another employee she knew lived up that way and was brining it in. AMAZING. I called their customer service and gave her the highest possible compliment. She went so far above and beyond for me. I'll never forget her. She saved me so much stress and anxiety..... and money because they were 19.99 here and I didn't have to ship them of course. I have all of the monster high dolls now. My kids are totally not expecting that and will be absolutely thrilled on Christmas Morning.

By the way, I didn't even know Ghoulia existed until I saw her in TRU one day about a week ago. She is so neat looking. She is by far my favorite one.

I'm going up to the American Girl store next thursday to buy Felicity (who is already paid for with my CC, they are holding her) and Molly and Rebecca.

This week i'm also buying the Air Hog Hawk eye. AND THEN THE FOLLOWING WEEK IS BLACK FRIDAY!!! WooHoo :woohoo:

HAPPY SHOPPING!

I decided to just bite the bullet and do all my son's Christmas shopping at one fell swoop. I bought him Halo Mega Bloks (two sets), a pogo stick, Lego Minotaurus, Nerf Stampede, Nerf ammunition vest, Mousetrap, some marbles and orange Tic Tacs for $164.77 at TRU last night. Everything I bought was on sale, I also got free Nerf bullets, I used a $15 off $150 and got a free $10 gift card and my receipt showed I saved $66.98!

I feel pretty good about it - I don't have to scour the stores and I only buy a few token gifts for other people so I am pretty much done with shopping.

I did already have a Lego Atlantis set, a book, the Lego advent calendar, Scrabble, stocking stuffers and pjs for him. Now I just have to figure out what is coming from me and what is coming from Santa. It's nice to be done!

I lucked into a good shopping morning today! I was online and checking store inventory at Target for Monster High dolls and they were showing in-stock...so I called and sure enough they had the two I wanted in stock (Lagoona Blue and Clawdeen) :cool1: and the nice woman in toys put them on hold for me. I picked them up and also saw the cute Dawn of the dance Frankie Stein so I picked that one up too! They are $16.99 at my Target and I had a coupon from the Toy book if you spend $50 on toys you get a free $5 gift card. Bonus! The original Frankie Stein is on her way from Amazon and I'm still waiting for Wal-mart to process my order for Draculaura. I'm so glad I don't have to search for these anymore ;-)

Happy Day!

You all make me feel like a slacker in the shopping department. DD (2.5) is getting a train set, a cash register, 2 games, paint/paintbrushes, bubble bath and bath fizzies, a preschool workbook and twistable crayons, a puzzle and a dollhouse with a few dolls and a few rooms of furniture. DSD (9) is getting everything on her list but her list is things like sneakers and shampoo. I finished her list for less than $70 and am at a loss on what else to get her. It's her first year not believing in Santa so I don't want it to be too crappy. We are waiting to see if DSS can be in the ski club so he will be getting either ski equipment or money and the little one will be done after I find her a photo album. The good news is that I am done getting everything that I can get right now, well I will be once I find the photo album.

Glad to hear you found your monsters too. It does feel good to have them. I am waiting for walmart to process my draculaura order too.

I preordered 3 more video games from Amazon this weekend. I think I'm going to have to make up a family gift basket for Wii games because I've gotten more than I planned for each child. I got the new Harry Potter for Wii for DH, Donkey Kong Country for Wii and Mario vs. Donkey Kong for ds for my DS9.

I was looking at the Disney Store website this morning and DS6 was looking over my shoulder asking for everything Phineas and Ferb, lol. Personally I was eyeing the D&B bags, but I don't think that's going to be in Dh's budget for me this year :sad1:.

Well I am getting ready to shop all weekend! I hope to get some things knocked off my lists.

I spent 3 hrs in TRU this morning.:scared1:

DS3: Santa gift is the train table in the TRU toy book I used the 20% off coupon. Buzz lightyear wings, buzz walkie talkies, the little toy story garbage truck (MIL got him the landfill), Leapster games and case (Grandpa got him the TS3 Leapster2), pirate ship, gator golf, red rover, crayola art easal. I have $58 dollar left for his budget might use it for stocking stuffers or get one of those kid tuff digital cameras. His 3rd birthday is Nov 29, got him the new dancing Mickey Mouse, and some leapster junior tag books (grandpa got him the TS3 junior tag from target). Grandma is getting him Stinky. Grandpa is getting him Bigfoot.

DS9: Santa gift is the Kinect for Xbox360. Today got him Bendaroos, Perry crayola explosioncars, Hot Wheel Dr Bones, Mega Halo wolverine and germlin building blocks on Amazon, Marble mania, tons of games for Xbox360, Wii, and PS3 that I bought on sale or clearnce through out the year. I have $100 left for his budget and don;t know what else to get him. He wants mind flex I am just not to sure about that being a waste of money, then the Air Hogs hawk with the camera ( there were not so good reviews on those). His grandpa got him an electric scooter and His Grandma got a microscope, paper jamz, and Tony Hawk skateboard that goes to the xbox360.

As you see in my countdown tickers DH and I decided last week to go to Disney in Jan. without the kids as presents to ourselves. We take the kids every September and they don't mind that we go without them. They like spending time with Grandma.

A certain box came today from Barnes & Noble but I can't open it because DH was home today. As soon as he is busy watching football tomorrow I'll be ripping that open to make sure that works and then I need to find the accessories to that (cover and light) then he is done.

We did a little shopping today and got DD12 the Glee Karaoke game for Wii. I can't put what we got for DD16 because she reads the DIS. I need to wrap the presents for my DSS9 and DSS6 so we can send them home with them after their Thanksgiving visitation with us so I picked up plenty of character wrapping paper today - Spongebob, Toy Story, Cars and already had Scooby Doo and Mickey Mouse at home.

Ed - do you know of any good deals on gaming computers for Black Friday? DD16 and DD12 love to play Sims 3 and Zoo Tycoon and want all of the extra expansion packs but the computer they have just doesn't have the capacity to handle the games like that. The guys at Best Buy told us that to upgrade the graphics card and memory on our old system would be expensive and suggested keeping our eyes open for a good deal on systems on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Any inside info?

Had today off, so I went to the outlets that are about an hour away to do some Christmas shopping. So glad I went today and not closer to Christmas-- it was absolutely PACKED! I was in the farthest parking space imaginable-- woo hoo, forced exercise!
Pickings were slim! I checked out the Carter's outlet for my Salvation Army angel at the recommendation of a Dis'er, but I have to say, WOW were those prices high! $70 for a down jacket for a 3 year old?? At an outlet??
I got to use a "Give and Get" coupon at the Banana Republic and Gap outlets for DBF, which saved me a decent amount. I also checked DBF's college-aged sister off my list at the Coach factory store-- wristlets were marked down to $30 and I had a 20% coupon, so she's set for about $25 (darn NY sales tax!).

PX is a Post Exchange - store on a military base.

a px is a store on a military base.

Gotcha. I have heard of it as the other name on the web. Got it!

I looked at the video....it didn't even look like it made ice cream...is it just me or is it still liquid at the end?

Yes. You had the same impression I had. I didn't want to influence you right off the bat because you seemed pretty interested in it... And, as I said, I thought it looked promising with the screws... but, then, I dug a little deeper.

Well, if I helped save you a little bit, then very cool! The DQ Ice cream maker from spin master that is all over TV DOES work... we did hands on with it.

Things you should know - you have to crank for 10 mins. 10 mins. It's a bit of time...

It only makes a weeeeee tiny little bit.

But, it's fun (as turning and cranking can be for 10 mins :D), but, it actually works and the ice cream is darn tasty. Really!

You're bringing a bit of your own ingredients, but, it really did work.

Throw some Target or TRU coupons at it... and its not that bad.

But, keep in mind my caveats above... If they sound like ones to you.

Thank you Ed for your advice. I figured after that happened that that's what needed to be done. BUT..... HAPPY SHOPPING!

Sounds like you lucked out! Good for you. It's nice to hear that there are people that still believe in customer service ... that are, ironically, in customer service. And that was a nice thing you did by making sure their good deed was known. Hats off for that one.

There ya go! That came pretty quick. That was the ebay one right?

Gaming computers.. Mmmm... The black friday Best Buy ad is out and about.

I do see some decent stuff.

Being big shoppers here in this thread, I may not be telling you anything new here, but, remember... MOST stores will even match other stores BF ads! So instead of trying to get XYZ at store ABC, consider getting it at FGH!

And were you looking for a desktop or laptop? And how much of a "real" gaming computer? How much of a budget?

Real gaming laptop = alienware which was bough not too long ago by dell

And the best buy guy was right... Getting a memory and video card upgrade will help, but, will probably cost just as much as getting a newer mid range machine, so... he probably wasn't too far off.

I am going to Sears on black friday for my "angel's" coat. Their quality is great and they always have good sales on coats. I get my own kid's coats there every year too. This year they have them on sale on black friday from 12.99-40.00.

Mind flex and the air hog hawk eye are on my shopping list too. dd11 wants mind flex SOOOOO bad. I hope it works well, because I HAVE to buy it, it's an item that's in her top 5. The Air hog hawk eye is in my dd9s top as well, so i'm hoping for the best with those. They definitely look neat!

Quick heads up for everyone .... (I'll check in and see what everyones talking about in a few) but, I wanted to get this out there for everyone.

There are new teacup piggy links out there in the wild!!

Go get 'em while you can!

Yes the $99 one off ebay. I was thrilled it got here so quickly and am dying to open the box and check it out.

Budget for the gaming computer is "as cheap as humanly possible". This is for Sims 3 and Zoo Tycoon for a teen and pre-teen not WOW for an adult. They get so frustrated when the animals and people freeze up. They have some of the expansion packs on their Xmas lists and we don't want to get them if they can't play them. Alienware is WAY out of the realm of what we want to spend.

I'll dig around for the Best Buy BF ad and see what they have. DH was on NewEgg last nite looking at pieces/parts to try to upgrade but along with a better graphics card we would also need to upgrade the power supply. :headache:

I start wrapping gifts today! Who else is wrapping already?? :cheer2:

I bought Tim's DS3 his Buzz Lightyear yesterday! I was on sale for $20, plus I used the 20% off which brought it down to $16. I love that NH has no sales tax! :rotfl:

I'm super excited that I was able to pick it up! Every time we ask him what he wants for Christmas it is ALWAYS "a Buzz Lightyear with a Laser!" He won't even mention Thomas trains (I asked if he wanted a new James because his is broken lol)

So yeah, so happy that's out of the way! I would've been so sad if we didn't pick that up, since that is literally the only thing he wants.

I start wrapping gifts today! Who else is wrapping already?? :cheer2:

I am planning to start tonight. It is laundry, tv, and wrapping night here after the kids are in bed! Next weekend I will decorate the house with everything but the tree as we will be gone all Thanksgiving week. When we get home we'll put up the tree and I'll enjoy it all while my buddies are stroking out about finding hot items and dragging out Christmas stuff to put up ;)

I would've been so sad if we didn't pick that up, since that is literally the only thing he wants.

:thumbsup2 I so know how you feel. My youngest has 3 large Santa wishes on his list (for Santa to choose from, he doesn't expect all three though he wouldn't turn that down LOL) not one of them is terribly practical for him *sigh* He is so small and he wants a go kart, he wants a treehouse but we don't have a single good "treehouse" type tree, he wants a motorcycle or dirtbike (not a Power Wheels, mind you, a REAL one! And he wants to ride it on the highway :scared1:) So....looking at a small-ish "go kart" type doone buggy that he can ride in our yard. I don't want Santa to leave him a huge disappointment but why can't the kid want a new bicycle or a tent or, heck a PS3, something within the realm of his usage capabilities :rotfl:

I think I need to be locked away somewhere during Christmas shopping season, I was "browsing" at Walmart today and there sat a Frankie Stein, just ONE lonely Monster High doll....so.....I bought her. Mind you, DD hasn't SAID she wants a Monster High doll. But, what if she wants one on say Dec 23? And then I would have thought, "And there was that perfectly good one at Walmart for $17 but did you buy it? NOOOO!" Honestly, I think Santa will leave it in her stocking with a copy of the book. The book looked cute and within her reading range, I think the doll will make more sense once she's read a story about it. If I could lay my hands on DracuLaura they could both go in there with the book  Oh, wait, no! I'm DONE shopping for the girl!

I also got a copy of the Ramona & Beezus Bluray/DVD/Digital copy for her. I only paid $12.99 for it  I bought 3 DD coffees (who DOESN'T need coffee this time of year!) and 2 boxes of Arm & Hammer cat litter and got a $5 gift card for each. The movie was on sale for $22.99 less the $10 in giftcards. So I just have to finish my Amazon and TRU orders and we will be nearing the finish line (with the exception of poor DS7's unknown Santa gift :rolleyes1)
