Christmas Shopping 2010

Well, we are almost done. DH wants to finish it up this weekend :cool1: so we can enjoy Thanksgiving (sooo excited - his company got us a two bedroom suite so the kids and I can stay with him the week of Thanksgiving :))

I thought my expensive costume order would be here today but the tracker says tomorrow soo... Nothing has arrived yet. TRU order shipped yesterday. All we have left to buy are primarily small things: movies and books (none of which I anticipate being out of stock so I'm not stressing over them), a few clothes for the little kids, a couple of duffle bags for the boys. Especially DS11, he needs a nicer bag, and another Wii game. I also have to get the gifts MIL is giving to the kids up to her, she can't shop for herself, but those are bought. We also have to get DS7's big gift and THAT IS stressing me because I still don't know what to get him. I need to try him out in one of those Razor Go Karts to see if it would work for him.

If anyone is looking for Squinkie stuff - the gumball (large) is in stock at TRU right now. Almost bought one but we have a few Squinkies put back and I need another playset around here like I need a hole in the head LOL

I've been looking too...they're so hard to find! I just picked up Draculara from Walmart online with free site to shipping....(with a nod to Ed,thanks to his tracker! ) It's still available if you don't already have that one. Good luck, I'm in the same boat!:goodvibes

Ok, I've been keeping up with this thread and had NO IDEA that "the tracker" was sooooooo amazing!!!!! I had it up at work all night and I have it up now. I AM DETERMINED TO GET EITHER LAGOONA BLUE OR GHOULIA NEXT! As soon as I posted here earlier I was able to catch the Draculara too. I was like "NO WAY" But yes, there she was. So I only need 1 more.

I got it Ed, I got it!

:cool1: I'm so glad you got one! Ed's "tracker" is amazing, lol. If it weren't for that I'd have never gotten those impossible to find zhu zhu pets last Christmas!

I was able to pick up Frankie Stein from Amazon yesterday too so the one I really want next is Lagoona Blue. Here's hoping she shows up soon! :wizard:

Good catch!!! I didn't see that one!

Thanks!

I'll have to make a mental note of that for the personal list! Thanks!

If you any of you are interested in those Teacup Piggies that are starting to ramp up in advertising, I would suggest looking at them sooner than later. They seem to be selling through pretty well!

Not sure what other fun facts I have.

I did get some hands on time with the BIG version of the prime-8 that is starting to make waves on TV too.

That is a COOL toy.

It's expensive, but, theres a reason for it. It's not just a "regular" toy. Think like "real" robotics toy.

It readjusts itself accordingly....

So, say, you make it go forward.... if it gets stopped / stuck / etc... There is built in intelligence to re-balance itself for it's next command. VERY cool and advanced toy. Kinda has a lot of robotic learning / playing too to it.

But, it is pricey. It's not going to be a stocking stuffer. I also probably wouldn't recommend the full blown model for a younger audience (<5) assuming it is an appropriate robotic toy. It's a bit too advanced (in the expensive model at least) and a lot of the advanced play would be lost.

But, if you have the right age group (I would think probably 7+-~11 or so), it's very cool. Very.

Not sure if this is allowed but is there any way someone can privately message me "the tracker". My nieces want Monster High(all of them:)) and my SIL is having trouble finding them. TIA!!

Just google "toy stock tracker". When I do that the first 5 or so hits are a website that sounds like there should be a lot of animals there.;) That is the site.:thumbsup2

So I just need one more Monster High doll now! Either Lagoona Blue or Ghoulia, which are the hardest to find of course. I thought I had Lagoona, it showed her available at toys r us, I added her to my cart put in CC info and then......nothing, i was taken back to the home page, she must have been sold already or it was a false alarm..... I was bummed. I called TRU to make sure they did not take a payment from me? That was weird that it had me get that far into it?

This weekend i'm going to go out for the Air Hog's Hawk eye!

Luckily I got Draculaura and Frankie, my dd9's most wanted, but I have her convinced that you can't find them anywhere, so we will have to get them after Christmas. I can't wait to see how surprised she will be! Keep looking, I found mine both on a shelf (at 2 different times) when the store said that they didn't have any when I called. You just never know.

I can help you with that :)

It's actually not that unusual. It happens more as the season goes on too.

Here's how it goes.

Tru really does have stock at that time. Thats how you got it in the cart. Problem is, so did someone else.

Tru, like many other sites, don't count it as out of stock until he last unit is checked out.

So if you and x other people have it in cart.....

Whoever checks out wins.

So. What do you do?

Ahhhhhh that's where you have mr Ed to help :)

On all of the sites you are tracking to buy from... Make sure you have registered an account! Fill in all the info. Shipping, billing etc...

Then log in!!!

And to choose to stay logged in.

Then start tracking and when you get it in your cart, you don't lose precious time fumbling over checkout details. It's all there and you next next next right through!

Thanks everyone for the kind words too.

Its very much appreciated and noticed by myself and Tony.

I got frankie, the dracula, one and the wolfgirl one ,cause I heard they were hot, about a mont ago, and my soon to be 10 yr old hasnt mentioned them and she made her list out, without them, Im holding on to them tho, cause Im afraid the closer we get to xmas the other girls may start talking about them and shes going to be wanting them, you just never know what to do! :upsidedow

I haven't had much luck finding the monster high dolls til today when I stopped in at the PX. They had all of the on the bottom shelf. And the were only $15 so I was pretty happy.

Spent the whole day deep-cleaning (parents sent ELEVEN boxes of my stuff that I'm trying to put away! :scared1:). Since DBF is going to Cali for a business trip from the 13th til Thanksgiving (he comes home at 8:30 PM :() I'm (hoping) to get all (or most) his shopping done and wrapped before he comes home so that I don't have to hide everything while he is here . It'll be a nice way to distract myself on my birthday :rotfl:.

Still trying to figure out what to get DS9 and DD8.

Oh great and powerful Oz (er....Ed) and everyone else. Most of Tim's kids want one of these Ice Cream Balls. Think it'll hold up to 4 kids (most who don't have good "aim") throwing it across the room (and landing on the floor countless times)? :rotfl: I want to get them it, but I also don't want to be cleaning up ice cream for 5 hours :lmao:

If you don't think this one will hold up, do you have any other brands or ideas that is more durable?

Not a bad choice. Worst case, with extended return times... You can always take it back if need be.

What's a PX?

Mmmm.. I have to say, that's a new one to me.

I got in close on the thing and it looks like there are actually some screws in it to hold it in place.. That shows it might hold up a little better than a Zhu Zhu Hamster Ball right off the bat :)

(enjoy the chuckle those of you with that toy!)

.... I dunno. I'll see what I can find out, but, it does at least look like they put some thought into it with the visible screws in the picture.

But, if you watch the video from the company, it does look like it gets a little messy :

http://www.youtube.com/user/mindwaretoys#p/u/16/kuB2BO5GFag

That's probably the best way to get an idea on it. They are of course going to want to show it in it's best light... So, if you think that you might find it troublesome with what you see on their video....

I think you know what I'm getting at. But, no first hand experience here. Sorry! But, take a look at that video. You'll either be sold or happy you looked!

If I come up with anything else, I'll let ya know!

Well, got just about all the gifts for the kids today!! DH and I went shopping while the kids were at school
Got DD9 a $20 snowboard from Target and got each a snowtube ($10 each).
Taylor Swift Target exclusive CD - $14
Hit the American Girl store and left all my money there!
Each got a bed - one for Julie and one for Elizabeth
Got Patriot the foal and the stable set
Sugar
Nutmeg (Julie's pet bunny)
Got each girl a couple perfume/body wash/lip gloss stuff for stockings.

Nothing was on sale of course. AG stuff rarely is!
Also picked up a Joe Mauer baseball jersey for DD9, but think will save it for her March 9 b-day. We might be going to spring training in FL, so that would be perfect. I had a $10 off card for Sports Authority, so that was a deal.
Bought her the new Diary of a WImpy Kid book at Target, less than $10 there. But her friend said she'd loan it to her when she finished, which I'm sure will be before Christmas, so I'll probably exchange that for a different book.

Just have to do scholastic book order for DD7 and to donate to their classes for teacher gifts.

Scoped out the Nook as a possible gift for my brother. Might suggest that my parents get him that and we go in on it. It looks WAY cool!

Also checked on a coach bag for my mom (if I can get my friend to get it w/ employee discount) and a rechargeable flashlight for my dad.

All in all, a great day - albeit expensive!!!!

PX is a Post Exchange - store on a military base.

I think the official name is AAFES but DS3 calls it the "Star Store" since there is a star in their logo. You can only shop there with a military ID. Their prices aren't usually any better than places like Target or Walmart and honestly are usually higher on things like toys. We do get a discount on purses so I like to browse ours and drool over the Coach, Dooneys and Veras. I have found toys at the PX that were out of stock other places though so for those of you that have access to one in your area then check it out for those hard to find toys. Their website is probably the most worthless one on the planet so don't bother checking there.

Those are cool gifts! I am thinking we may add some sleds to our kids lists as well. In TN we don't often get actual SNOW, especially not enough of it, or the right kind, to play in but....last year we got quite a bit (for us) and DS11 had a blast sledding with some neighbor kids. One little boy had 3 fairly nice sleds and they used them. The little ones were very sad to not be included, though. I think maybe they all three need their own ;)

We have a Patriot in our Christmas closet too. Sooo precious! DD didn't get the stable set but did get the riding outfits for both dolls, she has a larger horse already so Patriot may become it's baby. We have Sugar, too, but DD's pile is looking terribly overdone. Sugar may get held back for Valentine's or Easter.

I have my carts at TRU, Overstock, and Disney stocked and awaiting checkout (and by checkout I mean payday LOL :rotfl: which is tomorrow.) I'll be glad to wrap and drop off presents with the grandma's - and be reimbursed :santa: Got shipment confirmations on the three placed last weekend, one package arrived tonight. I will be so glad to hit 3 more submit buttons and call it "done", although a woman I work with told me I "cheated" by ordering online!!

I went out today too. Was gone all day, but didnt get a lot accomplished other than alot of ME time. LOL

I did pick up 2 more pillow pets..........monkey and ladybug.......I think these will be for my neices, but we will see.

Picked up some sweat pants for DD. These were each 9.99 at Gordmans.

Also went to TRU and got the Imaginext Firehouse and ambulance. Hoping these go on sale, so I can take them back and get some money back. If not, atleast I have them.

I also got some lotion and some aloe socks for my neighbor who tells me her feet are terrible rough.
