Christmas Shopping 2010

The red Wii and the Xbox Kinect are everywhere here. We have seen it at Best Buy, Walmart, Target, the PX, etc... just sitting there. Many in stock at each locale. Maybe you guys need to make a sidetrip to Georgia because apparently these aren't hot items down here!

So we were at walmart today and were browsing the toy department. They had a paperjamz guitar on display hooked up. Oh, it was so neat. They are not on my dd's lists, but if they didn't already want so much, i'd get them anyway. Very cute.
I was also checking out baby dolls for my niece. Bouncing Babbles is absolutely adorable, she jumps up and down.

We were also checking out barbie stuff. My girls want barbie stuff, but we "adopted an angel" from salvation army and are going shopping for her. We picked a 10 yr old girl who had a coat, pants, shirts and a barbie on her list. With my house full of girls, I have a soft spot for little girls and seeing her list brought a tear to my eye and we can't wait to go clothes and barbie shopping for her. Sears always has great black friday deals on coats. I bought my girls their coats from there 2 yrs ago for 15 each. If anyone is looking for new coats, check Sear's black friday ad. Always good deals! For her Barbie stuff, we're doing a few of the fashionista barbies (they're arms and legs are posable) some extra outfits for them and maybe the barbie glitter doll too. My dd11 wants to pick out her coat and clothes. They are very excited to be doing this. I actually got the idea from someone here on the DIS.

Just because I'm a curious sort... which set of Star Wars books did you get him? .

I bought a set that was all of the DK readers levels 1-4. Not sure if I can post the link but found them on amazon. He is working on reading so I figured books he would like might be a big hit. Thanks for the other suggestions, will check them out.

If you any of you are interested in those Teacup Piggies that are starting to ramp up in advertising, I would suggest looking at them sooner than later. They seem to be selling through pretty well!

Not sure what other fun facts I have.

I did get some hands on time with the BIG version of the prime-8 that is starting to make waves on TV too.

That is a COOL toy.

It's expensive, but, theres a reason for it. It's not just a "regular" toy. Think like "real" robotics toy.

It readjusts itself accordingly....

So, say, you make it go forward.... if it gets stopped / stuck / etc... There is built in intelligence to re-balance itself for it's next command. VERY cool and advanced toy. Kinda has a lot of robotic learning / playing too to it.

But, it is pricey. It's not going to be a stocking stuffer. I also probably wouldn't recommend the full blown model for a younger audience (<5) assuming it is an appropriate robotic toy. It's a bit too advanced (in the expensive model at least) and a lot of the advanced play would be lost.

But, if you have the right age group (I would think probably 7+-~11 or so), it's very cool. Very.

If it is, the dual eye ones for like 20 bucks more would be a much better choice. The single eye ones are strange.

Hard to tell from the ad scan. They sell the dual eye one online but it is the spynet branded version.

I've already got that spynet one from Amazon so I won't be buying one from Target. Well that plus I'm having foot surgery on 11/22 so I don't think I'll be leaving my house on black friday.

Was able to cross on thing off my list. Went to Target yesterday and picked up the Romona and Beezus DVD for 13 and got a R&B book for 5.99.. that got me a 5.00 target GC.. AND I used my Target Debit card and got 5% off my purchase!!
I also ordered her the Junie B series on Ebay 24 of the books for 30 including shipping.. not bad for books that cost 4.99 each!!I just need to find a 3 more of those.
DH and I are going to go TRU and Target tomorrow since I am off for VD and DD is in school..hoping to clear most of her things up!!

Then I just need to work on, my Sis, nephews,DH and my parents, Who my mom's Bday is ON Christmas and my Dad's is the 27th...sigh!!

DH and I are off for Veterans' Day too and our kids are in school. It has become a tradition that we go Christmas shopping and out to lunch!
I think we'll head to Target first (they open earlier) then to the Sports Authority and Mall of America. Have to hit the American Girl store!

Anyone know anything about snowboards?? DH mentioned it last night that he's thinking about getting DD9 one - she wants to try it - she was standing on her sled last winter! Target has some inexpensive ones. How big should they be?

That is too funny my boys did the samething last year with their sleds so I have snowboards on my list. I was going to get the ones at Target as well because we don't live near any mountains just a big hill at a local park. I figured the Target ones would work for them.

I ended up getting the Kintec online at Microsoft store online with free shipping. I called them to make sure they were in, They said they had them in stock and I should get it around Monday that it would be shipped out tomorrow. I hope they weren't mistaken and that it isn't on back order like Amazon. I ordered it around 11:30 today.

Our Best Buy had one last Saturday didnt think to get it then went back Sunday they had no more. I looked in every store here that carries them and they were out of stock didnt know when they would get more in or at least that is what they told me. I looked on the internet everyone was on back order. I ended up finding it on Amazon for $149.99 with free shipping but it was on back order, they would mail as soon as it came in and then charge you card for it. In may last post I said I ended up getting it at Microsoft store by call them direct. It was 149.99 plus tax with free shipping. If it is not here by next Tuesday I will be calling back.

Ok, i'm so desperate to find monster high dolls. My girls each have 1 and they so badly want another for Christmas. My only hope right now is to keep calling Toys r us every morning to see if they got a shipment in. I bought the Cleo de Nile and Deuce set for dd9 today. They seem to be the only MH dolls around. I almost had Lagoona blue from Amazon for $37. I thought about for 10 minutes. I said.....let me do it. There were 2 left. I clicked on it and then there was 1 left. I added it to my cart and it said sorry no longer available. In the 10 min that I was deciding on whether or not to do it, they were both gone I feel like i'm gonna have a mini heart attack over here

On a good note, I bought the Moxie Snow cabin and moxie snow dolls from TRU and got a free Moxie snow girlz moon chair free. I also bought the Liv doll Hayden that comes with her horse. My dd11 wants that really bad.

But I need Monster High HELP!!!

Good choice on Loopz. It's fun! Will it be passed down generation to generation as an heirloom? Maybe not But, it is fun!!

I think they will get harder to come by though once BF hits. It's one of those things that not everyone is eyeing up quite yet... But.... I think it's going to be a big seller and wished for item. Just my two and a half cents.

I think MS Store will come through to be perfectly honest. That's a good choice to get them from when they have them.

And speaking of hard to find things. Holy moly batman. Does anyone's kids watch Oso??? We just got tipped off that the BIG one in OSO land is the plush doll.

Now, this place being what it is.. I'm sure this no news to any of you, but, it LOOKS like a disney store exclusive? The plush specifically. It is catching biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig bucks else where.

So, if you're looking for it.... there are probably ways to find it!

Picked up a few stocking stuffers for my little girls, and Loopz for my 16 yr old son today. I don't expect the Loopz to have lasting value for him but even though I seem to spend a fortune on him at Christmas, he seems disapointed if there isn't something to dig out and actually PLAY with on Christmas morning, kwim? Not sure if he'll enjoy Loopz but it wasn't too expensive and doesn't take up too much space once it gets discarded.

If anyone has any suggestions for other toys affordable a 16 yr old boy might like to play with on Christmas morning, I'd love to hear them.

The little girls are 5 and 7. My son is great about playing with the girls but he won't be too excited about the American Girl dolls on Christmas morning...
