Christmas Shopping 2010

So DH came up with the bright idea of putting it in our camper outside until Christmas Eve! Once camping season is done I have a hiding place!

Thanks for sharing this great idea! My parents store their camper in our backyard - it's the perfect place to keep gifts. There's no chance my kids would check there. The only problem would be if it snowed heavily and I couldn't get in to the camper on Christmas Eve. :scared1:

Andrew was talking about Christmas yesterday and said he wants us to surprise him with a big box filled with balloons and a note telling them that we're going to Disney again like last year! I knew that Christmas surprise last year was going to haunt me! :headache: I wish we could this year but it's just not going to happen. :sad2:

Yay for you!!!

For the last few years, ds11 has gotten Lego sets for Christmas...that's about all he asks for. He loooooves them! And what a cool hiding place!! I love it!
I just wish Legos weren't so darn expensive! :scared1: I can hear my wallet cry every time I accidentally suck one up in the vacuum.

Hmmmm. Snow didn't cross my mind. My luck we'll get record breaking blizzards again this winter! :scared1:

What a great thread! I haven't read all of the posts yet. We have twin boys so most of our shopping is from Santa. :santa: DH has a Christmas club account at work so we'll do most of the shopping in November when he gets the $ . I did find some great buys last weekend at a local consigment sale. Both of my boys have mentioned wanting a guitar and I found 2 brand new ones and some new unopened floor puzzles. I also picked up some stocking stuffers at Walmart on clearance. My boys will be 4 in November, so we have to plan for b-day too.

Thanksgiving night is when it all starts for me and my mom. We have an annual tradition. We spend Thanksgiving night at a hotel that is part of a mall here and then we get up around 4 to start shopping. We look forward to this all year. I love love love Christmas! And it gets more exciting each year with my boys. Hopefully this year DH and I can finally give each a new television, flatscreens should be very affordable this year.

Christmas is only 4 months away but Disney is only 24 days away so I've got to plan that first! I'm actually hoping to do some shopping in Disney, we're taking 2 vehicles, so plenty of room for all my purchases! :)

I need to find something similar to get my two nieces every year; ANY IDEAS??? They are 2 and 7.... plus the books.
.

I do something like this, too. I buy all the kids on my list a tree ornament. I do this because when I moved out of my parents' house, I was DEVASTATED that I didn't have anything to put on my cruddy little fake tree (you know, the kind a broke college student could afford). I have been buying them for about 5 years now. The kids seem to like them and I usually buy them from the disney store shortly after Christmas. They are cheaper then and, let's face it, the characters don't change much from year to year.

well..meant to do this yesterday, but didn't get to hop over here!!

:santa:4 Months til Christmas!!!:santa:

Wow...summer is aaaaalllllmost over!! thank goodness!! Not that it won't stay piping hot here for quite a while...we can tell a shift in our weather...and let me tell ya...we are ever so thankful!!! I put out a fall rug this week, and got out my box of fall decorations yesterday!!! will be putting stuff out this week!!! I am soooo ready for summer heat to leave....Sept is still warm, but hopefully our days in the 100s are dwindling....which makes me feel like I need to start preparing for Chistmas!!!! I plan to really get it in gear with the list-making pretty soon...
Yay for all of you making such great progress....welcome to any knew friends I might have missed.....

I only buy for a few people and I have most of it done so far...

DH (just something small) - custom mousepad made on vista print with pictures and stuff for him to take to work (it was free!)

My Mom - luggage that she has been wanting. Got it at Kohl's when it was half off and I used a 30% coupon so it was a REALLY great deal. And a photo calendar (again free from vistaprint) and mouse pad (also free)

DD2 & DS5 - I think I bought Target out when they recently clearanced so many toys at 75% off. They are set, I don't have to buy anything else. I also got a bunch of Leap Frog Tag books for $4.99 when Leapfrog.com just had that awesome coupon code.

DD's birthday is right before Christmas and DH's is before hers, so I have to do something for those, too.

My Dad - I got a (free) Photo FlipBook that I think I'll give him but I need something else to go with it so thinking on that.

MIL/FIL/SIL - I am not sure how this is going to go this year, DH is not on good terms with them at the moment he says. :( It drives me nuts, I hate being in the middle of it.

Oh girl...family turmoil:scared1: We all have it at some point or other...the rest of your list looks great! Glad you are so close to the finish line!!!

I am so glad I found this thread - I need all the help I can get. Not only do I pledge every year to be done long before Christmas and shop almost unitl the very end. This year we will be in Disney the week after Christmas :cool1:

I have DD6 and DD10 to buy for of course but they are the easy ones. I am already looking for good deals on a 19 inch flat panel tv for DD10 and a DSiXL for DD6 that will be the main presents this year and I can always find plenty of things for them and will probably bring back something from Disney on the sly. There will be a few people that I can get something for at Disney but not many so I really need to start working at it :santa:

I've gotten a little more bought, I got my 6yo's pillow pet ordered, ordered the 9th 39 Clues book from a Scholastic book order for my 11yo (ordered from my 9yo so it would be secret) and got a package of blue super sticky post-it notes for free with a coupon to put in DS6's stocking. He loves little pads of paper like that.

It's not much, but it's a little bit of a start.

I have a couple things for my little guys already. My list is HUGE- I have 4 kids and then 7 nieces and nephews to buy for)

I ordered some Star Wars Mighty Beanz and cases- they all came (so cute) but those are stocking stuffer kind of things.

I have ONE lego bought so far. (great deal on a miners set ds wanted)

My daughter(13) is a HUGE CSI fan. Big time into Forensics- I am going to be really struggling to find stuff for her. Any ideas are welcome or websites to check out for forensic stuff?

Little is good!! At least you can mark SOMETHING off that list! My son loved the 39 Clues too!

Last year I saw some CSI (from the TV show) science kits for I think ages 10+, they were either on Amazon, Toys R Us, or the Discovery Channel Store.

Hi, I'm new to the boards (long time lurker) but I'd love to hop in on this thread. With 4 kids I try to get my shopping done earlier and earlier every year. Unfortunately my DH's work pushed their bonuses back a month this past year so instaed of getting his quarterly bonus in October, he'll be getting it in November, which means I won't be able to do any major shopping as soon as I would like since we use that money for Christmas gifts  But I have started picking up things here and there, I got quite a few things for my DD3 when Target was having their 75% off sale.

I would love some advice for my DS8, he is developementally delayed and where he is right on target for his age in school, his is quite immature for his age. He has asked for the same things for Christmas and birthdays for the past few years, Disney Cars and books. I cannot begin to tell you how many cars we have, pretty much all of the Disney Pixar ones and probably a hundred or so Hotwheels, we even have all of the Disney Racers. And books, at least 300-400 books, it's all anyone gets him, my MIL comes to visit him and brings 5 or 6 at a time. I am truely at a loss for ideas for him for Christmas, my MIL has been asking for lists for the kids and I have nothing for him so far. Any ideas would be appreciated , I'm hoping to get some from reading others posts :)

:welcome: Lisa!!Glad you are joining in!!Well, that just stinks about the bonus!!! WOW! ...well, at least you can be making a list with the rest of us!! I have to suggest my younger sons favorite:LEGOS! We are Lego poor around here! Does he even like them? I know some kids really dont, but they are great for all kids--and when you day he's dev. delayed...that instantly popped into my mind! It really does give them something creative (even if they are not creative..they can follow the picture guides) and be proud of it..boosting their confidence and imagination..they have some awesome Lego sets nowadays!! You can get him some by age or interest...The Toy Story ones out right now are soo cute & they are not as intricate as some of the other sets,..so it would be easier for a beginner...
Does he like to color or draw? Does he like music? You could get him a CD player for his room and get disney cds & soundtracks from his favorite movies....hmm...we will have to think hard for him!!!

Where did you order the pillow pet from? I need to get 3 this year. Thanks!

Target has unicorns, bumblebees and ladybugs in the home area for $19.99 each.

My dd7 just got a leopard one at a store at Animal Kingdom though.
