to the new friends!!! Glad you are all making some progress,be it large or small!
Jerseyguy's Wife~ that post was hysterical!! I love it!!! You will fit in perfectly right here!!!
Thanks. It is comforting to know that I am not the only one! I tend to overdo Christmas, so this year I am trying REALLY hard to stay on budget. Every year, Mom or I will say "this is going to be a slim Christmas" but we go totally insane anyway! I use a notebook to list my purchases and usually each person gets 2 lines. This year, alas, they all get one. If it doesn't fit on the line, it doesn't get bought.
Here's what I've got:
Mom: ? I may build her some shelving in her laundry room for her clothes so she doesn't have to go upstairs so much anymore. Poor arthritic mom.
Dad: 3 Big Dogs tees
DB#1: 2 Big Dogs tees
DB#2: 2 Big Dogs tees
Neph1: Harry Potter books (gently used)
Neph2: 4 pair pjs
Niece1: Tink hoodie, 2 pr. jeans
Grandma: Picture collage
MIL: picture collage and bath&body stuff
SIL1: No clue
BIL1: Cook's Magazine (I am so glad he loves this or I would be lost!)
Niece2: 2 pr Princess pjs, Snow White ornament
SIL2: ?
BIL2: ?
DH: Not telling. He's an accidental surprise ruiner and he is also on the DIS.
DS3: Ornament, Tigger soundstage
DS5: Ornament, ? Guess I'll know more after he's been in kindergarten for a few weeks
I got a great deal at bigdogs.com. I think it was 2/$10 with free shipping on any order. I hit up Kmart for most of the pjs. Half Price Books and yard sales for HP. I have several things from the
Disney store online that I bought early this summer (think winter clearance).
For all those who have a problem father like me, I usually end up buying him...ready?....socks, underwear, and beer. I know, I know; I sound pretty weird. But he never wants anything. But, at this point, he counts on me to buy him socks and underwear!

Sad, but true. And he likes all kinds of odd beer.
I buy all the small kids on my list an ornament every year. The idea occurred to me because when I went away to college (awhile back), I wanted to get a Christmas tree, but realized I didn't have anything to put on it. I was so upset about it that I cried. My poor roommate didn't know what to do, so she ended up helping me make ribbon ornaments! God Bless her. i am happy (or should I be ashamed?) to say that I now own 6 bins worth of tree ornaments and a few shelves worth of "decorations". My DH says I have a serious Christmas addiction. He says he'd try for an intervention, but he's afraid he'd get killed with gingerbread or something.
For any of you with a person on your list as crazy for Christmas as you are, I suggest Dept. 56 North Pole stuff. They are somewhat expensive, but I LOVE mine. I can have Santa's whole world right in my office! There are several retailers (around here anyway) that ALWAYS sell it at 15% off.
I think that's all I've got. Happy shopping!
