Oh, how we love Christmas...My mom was born on Christmas Day, so it has always been a special day - the fact that I am a Christian gives this day even DEEPER meaning...and this Christmas will be "Magical" I pray.

I have everything planned - all the ADR's made - money being stashed away to pull off a nice Christmas as far as presents and enough to spend for a week at WDW. We have gone all out - even doing the Deluxe Dining.

On Christmas morning - my wife, my mom, my 8yr old son, my 5 yr old son, and 18 month old little princess will all awake just like any other Christmas. We will all wake up to Santa's gifts - then we will gather around the tree to open the others...then off to my sisters for lunch and another round of gift opening - and then at about 2pm or 3pm CST...we will make the move - the kids DONT HAVE A CLUE...but the next 15 hrs will be spent in a van getting to our favorite place. I need help - how and when do we reveal the destination to the kids...here are my options.

1) Tell them right before we leave - so all my family can enjoy it.
2) Wait till we get an hour or so on the road and tell them when they begin to ask why we are not home yet.
3) Tell them we are taking my Mom to visit friends - and don't tell the kids till we get there (btw-my Mom is going for her 1st time with us).
4) Get in the van - tell them we have 1 more gift, but they will have to figure it out...and lead them on a scavenger hunt for clues that will eventually lead us to WDW.

Through the process of planning I have wanted to do all 4, but I want this to be magical...so help me out...what would you do?

OH CHRISTMAS PLEASE HURRY!!!!

How much fun!! I too am trying to come up with a fun way to reveal to my niece that she is getting to go with us.

I love the scavanger hunt idea for your family...how exciting! I can't wait to hear more!!

Yeah - i am leaning toward that. It is more difficult to pull ofF, but it will get the kids excited and thinking....my 8 year OLD is a huge sports fan...so my clues would be centered around finding different sports stadiums..

1) mississippi state - davis-wade stadium (go dogs!!!!)
2) alabama
3) auburn
4) troy
5) florida state
6) ucf

First of all, how awesome! Go you! But onto the reveal.. I am stuck between the first and second options...

I love number two, cause you can just say, oh, did I forget to tell you?? we're going to disney world:lmao:

Then again, seeing the fams reaction is awesome too..although if there are other little ones there you may make them jealous??

Good luck!

yeah 1 and 2 are awesome as well.

#1 - no there no other kids....a teenager but he already knows...and it would allow their aunts and uncles to DISNEY them up pre-trip with gifts.

#2 - I like as well - I would love to wait - I just know the car ride will be MUCH SWEETER with them knowing. No fighting, fussing, etc...our most peaceful car rides are to trips they BOTH want to go to.
