When we opened our hotel room door last night, I held my breath to see what I would find. What did I find you ask? SILENCE! Yes! The noisy pipes were fixed! I was very happy as it was VERY late and I really needed a good night sleep.
Today was our last full day at Disney and as usual, we were determined to make the best of it! We decided to go back to the Magic Kingdom for a little while before going back to Epcot. We weren't exactly off to an early start as we didn't get to MK until 11:00am! Ah well, vacations are meant for sleeping too right?
We were struck by how crowded it was because we thought since the Thanksgiving weekend was over, the crowds would go down. No such luck (in MK anyway). We went to the Country Bear Jamboree again to see the Christmas version. I can still hear Big Al singing Winter Wonderland!
We got a citris swirl each and waited in line for the Jungle Cruise. Fastpass wasn't working today which I found surprising since it was so crowded. We found a hidden mickey in the queue so we didn't mind waiting. We had a terrific guide so the ride was extra fun today.
We hadn't been on any of the Fantasyland rides this trip so we decided to go there next. We could barely walk it was so crowded! Even It's A Small World had a big line so we decided to forget about Fantasyland today. We had been on these rides earlier this year anyway. We decided that the crowd was too big today for MK so we walked down main street one last time, turned back towards the castle for one last look, and left for Epcot on the monorail. What a difference in crowds! We got our Candlelight processional package info and in we went. First stop was Spaceship Earth (yes, we're obsessed with this one!) followed by a walk through the singles line at test track. We were through the line, preshow and ride in what seemed like 15 minutes!
Since we missed the Liberty Singers the other day for being cancelled, we wanted to try to catch them today. Fortunately, they were there! However, my favourite singer wasn't there (the redhead woman). Still, the show was terrific. We quickly went to China next (don't you love being able to say things like, "went to china next"!) where we caught some fantastic child acrobats. How do they do it! After the show, we headed back to Future World for Universe of Energy since we hadn't seen it yet this trip. I've heard many people say they don't like Ellen's version of Universe of Energy, but I really do. I love her line where she is talking about the dinosaurs and says, "bone crunchin', Ellen munchin' dinosaur".
By now it was almost time for our Rose & Crown PS so we headed back to world showcase. Turned out that British Invasion were just about to begin so we got to see them before dinner. We were seated (had dinner with friends) very quickly. Three people had the prime rib and I had the roasted chicken. Now, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, I just thought the food was a little bland. I guess I tend to like lots of spices in my food and I just wasn't terribly impressed. I tasted the prime rib and liked it better, but the highlight of the meal was dessert. I forget the full name but it was a white chocolate/dark chocolate, strawberry layered dessert. It was terrific. We rolled out of the restaurant and lined up in the PS line for the candlelight processional. Boy, did we get a great seat! We sat about 6 rows back, centre. When we had seen the show earlier in the week, we were way in the back on the lefthand side. What a different show it becomes when you have better seats. John Tesh was the narrator tonight. There was talk right up until the show began that John Tesh wasn't going to make it, but sure enough he was there. Spectacular! His voice suited the role and the choir was as phenomenal as usual. I must come back another year with my family - I'm sure they'd love it!
The show let out around the time people were waiting for Illuminations. We walked over to Norway and got a terrific place to watch the show. Thankfully we're all tall and could see over the people standing right at the wall. Our friends loved Illuminations. Before leaving, we used our 15% candlelight processional discount and bought some souvenirs for our nephews and of course for ourselves! We decided to exit out to the boardwalk and return to the boardwalk hotels at night. We had visited all of these hotels earlier this week, but we discovered that all the decorations hadn't been finished yet. The Yacht Club, for example, now has a gingerbread carousel in it! The boardwalk has a chocolate carnival display now. Of course, the boardwalk itself is very beautiful. I love looking at the other side of the lake and see all the reflections on the water. Beautiful. How were we going to leave this place tomorrow??? We ducked into Jellyrolls and would have loved to stay, but we wanted to take advantage of EE tomorrow so we thought we should get back to the hotel. But what the heck, we decided to stop by the Animal Kingdom Lodge on the way home. Were we glad we did! The reflection of the trees on the big glass windows was stunning! At one angle, we counted 14 Christmas trees being reflected in the back big window! Beautiful. Reluctantly we left and got back to the hotel for some packing. At least we were going to get a few hours in MGM tomorrow before flying home. Nothing like taking advantage of those annual passes! Lights out.
