When it comes to the reds and greens of Christmas decorating, which do you prefer:

Traditional bright red and traditional green?

or

The darker reds and darker greens?

------------------------

When I was younger, I preferred the traditional..

For the past 15 years or so, I have swung over to the darker reds and darker greens..:santa:

If I had to choose, I would choose the darker.

I actually tend to stay away from the "traditional" reds and greens and opt for more of a gold and silver theme. Our Christmas tree actually has black balls with the silver balls, and a black tree skirt. Very "contemporary", I guess.

^^ Oooh, me too.

My tree is pink with silver ornaments.

But... in regards to red and green, I think I prefer the traditional ones, although I like the darker colors too.

I guess it depends on what would be red and green. I have ornaments in a glass bowl and they're more traditional, but I have candles that are darker.

So basically, I'm no help to you whatsoever.

I just redecorated my sunroom with a lighter celery green. I am buying new Christmas items in that lighter shade. I'm ready for a little change.

usually traditional, but it also depends on the room. If the room has colors that would clash with a traditional red but be okay with a darker red then I go with the darker red.

It really depends what the colors are being used on--I like both color schemes.

My real preference, though, is for silver and pretty much any shade of blue.

Any shade of red and green! I LOVE the holiday brightness, when I un-decorate the place looks so blaaaaa! :rotfl2:

Hunter green and burgandy, definitely.
With dark, not brassy, gold accents. I also like stuff that's really nature-y. Pinecones, twigs, grapevine, lots of pine, etc.
Bows, too... big ones. I love using spools of wire-edged ribbon to make big, full, fluffy bows.

Sounds good.

I like lime green and hot pink. (and not because of DIS lime green)

Until we bought our new house 3 years ago...traditional.

Now that our new house has a lot of sage, burgandy, tan, and browns...I go with the darker greens (hunter), sage, and burgandy for the decorations.

We also just got a new slimline tree...so I'm still trying to figure out exactly how we'll decorate it...but definately not 'Christmas tree green' and red this year, lol.

Sounds similar to the way my tastes run now..:santa:

I like a mix of both!

Definitely traditional red and green for me.

this year my tree is silver and blue. next year i'll probably do red, white, and green.

I like the darker reds with a light sage green.

My colour scheme though is amber, red, light sage green and gold.

Hi C.Ann,
are you back from your trip, or still packing.
I liked the tarten darks, of red and green plaid...

Now I was hit with, white, crystal, and silver-cool blues. A winter wonderland dream.
I have a real difficult time with the holidays since my dd passed away right after New Years 2 years ago. I pull a pre lite 5' out of the atic and plug in lights still up in the window.....

I have a ton to catch up on to declutter and clean to even consider getting a tree up. Last year I finally did a few days before Christmas dd had just turned 13 and grandson 3 so they wanted a holiday......

So I will dream of making an ice/blue Christmas, but be lucky to pick up around here......Just straighten up and put out a few holiday scented candles.
It is all to close and too empty.
di

I like the darker

At my house I like richer colors

So, deciding between red and gold, blue and ivory, green and white or gold adn silver
