What have you heard since as far as I know there really isn't anything that special except hot cider and cookies at TE. We've been at FW for like 5 or 6 times over Xmas and can't remember anything so special someone from another resort would want to come to FW on Xmas. Now the decorations are neat since some campers really do it up, but you have to get around the campground which is huge and not something you can walk around w/o having a GC.

I think Christmas is the best time to go to the Ft. the first time we camped at the ft. was Dec. 2004. We had no idea the sites were all decorated. It was a neat surprise. We had started tent camping with the kids. DH is a cop and after the hurricanes Disney offered all who worked the hurricanes a 5 day park hopper pass and half off families. The resorts were discounted too.

So we thought we can't pass this up-Disney was christmas for us that yr. We stayed at the Ft. for 2 nights and we were hooked-we've camped every Dec. since. We love the decorations and bring along our pooh and tigger blow ups. Just the christmasy feel is cool and it's much cooler outside. We live 30 mins from Disney. When you live here you have to find places that get you in the christmas spirit since it's never a wht. christmas...

I agree with Larry on this one. The Fort itself does nothing HUGE to attract guests from other resorts. The bus stops are decorated with lights & garland, as well as the trading posts, and there is a pretty tree outside of T.E., but that's about it.

Now the campers.... THAT's another story! People really get in to decorating their sites & even some of the cabins are decorated by the guests. There are too many camping loops to walk, but you could bike them fairly easily. You could also arrange to rent a golf cart for the day (about $60.00) and drive around to see all the decorations. It might be worth it if you personally can justify the cost.

Entertainment includes a live country Western band and line dancing. The Disney characters do appear but they do not visit at the tables.

NOTE: The BBQ takes place in an open air pavilion. There is no assigned seating. Guests with tickets should arrive 30 minutes prior to their seating. (Guests picking up tickets at Pioneer Hall should allow an additional 15 minutes.)

I haven't done this before, so I don't have first-hand experience. I would imagine with it being Christmas that there would be Christmas decorations and music. Maybe the characters are dressed in Christmas attire.

Never have we which only a handful or two of eateries in WDW (except for the Swan/Dolphin) that we haven't hit yet and quite frankly never envision us doing it since for around the same price the HDR is probably better. I suspect the Xmas costuming should be it and it would be interesting to see a XMAS Cowboy Mickey/Cowgirl Minnie.

I do enjoy the decorations that campers put up. Elevator Ray (I think that's the name) puts Mickey lights high up in the trees. DSis, DBIL, DW & I have been known to loop around the Fort drinking beer and regaling guests with Christmas Carols. Lot's of fun!
