Christmas 2011 shopping

I bought DD the Thomas train she wanted on Zulilly for about $28 shipped. It came with three friends that she isn't expecting so she will be happy about that.

I am making her some dancing hoops and since I do hair fluff I already have the materials.

I have a bid on her cupcake purse on Ebay right now.

I still have to find/make craft kits, a girly lego set, a robot that can fly (ug what on earth? it is on her list, she started early...how do I find one that flies?), a magnetic dart board, a vera bradley like mamas (not going to happen), colored pencils and a nice sharpener and a bag of chuck e cheese tokens.

For the robot DBF said to try Brookstone or Hobby stores. He is into tech stuff, so hopefully that helps. I'll keep an eye out too for you! :santa:

Funny my mom and I were just talking about gifts yesterday. I have a few things put away for the kids. They still believe in Santa, but is is bad to hope that this ends before the holiday? I would love to give them an option of one large gift or a bunch of small.

LOL. I know whatcha mean. My DD8 has been asking questions and while I'd love to just tell her the truth and get it over with, she's my only kiddo and I LOVE surprising her. I don't ever want it to end :cutie:

I am so tired of all the "things" for gifts and have been leaning toward experiences//more usedful items as gifts.

Ditto here. Our big gift is a trip to the Gaylord National Harbor in D.C. for the Dreamworks Holiday Experience and a stop and the new A.G. doll store in Tysoon's Corner. We will go for 2 or 3 days after Christmas. So DD is getting some gift cards and a new suitcase to go with that. She gets so much from her grandparents that I'm trying hard to scale back, but it soooooo hard.

I haven't started yet, and I'm not sure what I"ll get for DD8. She'll be almost 9 by then and she's at that weird age where she's growing out of toys. I'm think about a camera or ipod for her big gift and maybe an ipod dock for her room. She does like music. I'm thinking maybe some things for her room as well.

My DD8 got an Ipod Nano for Easter (that was her daddy's doing, EB is usually not that generous, but he snuck it in her basket after I went to bed;)) and I have seen a docking station on Amazon for around $40/50, BUT, it will play AND charge the Ipod (not just the Nana) AND it's also a CD player and DD and her friends love to listen to CDs. It also changes colors while it plays. That's on her list.

DD just also bought herself a lava lamp at Target with a gift card she got for her birthday. It was around $15. She LOVES it.

I just ordered a couple American Girl craft kits that are on clearance on HSN for my GDs. They love crafts and AG dolls so they are perfect for them.

I need to check these out.

If anyone wants to get some cool cosmetic bags, check this out!

(If I wasn't suppose to post this--I'm sorry, just message me so I know?)

These are AWESOME. I'm definately looking into these!

If anyone is looking for the nintendo dsi, it's target's daily deal today.

I bought Godmother gifts last night on etsy. They are all getting mini list takers, I just picked a different fabric for each. They should be in some time next week. I LOVE crossing thing off my list! :cool1:

Is this on Target's website? Do you know how much it is?

I don't know if coming to the budget board is really budget for me this time of year. :lmao: Everyone post great deals and then I spend money.

On Target's website, they have a place for daily deals. The deal changes everyday. Today it is the Nintendo DSi with Voyager case Bundle - Black (Nintendo DSi) for $139.98 plus free shipping.

I check the daily deal everyday. You never know what they'll have. I've gotten bibs, contact lens solution, lego games, jeans, all at a discount with free shipping.

Do you have a link to the docking station you saw? It sounds like something DD would love. She has some CD's that she loves to listen to so this would be perfect.

We went to National Harbor for our anniversary and had a great time. Its a neat place. I got the Hyatt on Priceline for around $95 a night I think it was. DH asked for a water view room at check in and they gave it to us. We also did the AG store in Tysons and that was fun too. We made sure to get there early when they opened and didn't have to wait in line at all for the hair salon. There was a line when we left.

DH and I go to the outlets in Kittery, ME in July each year and I always get 1 or 2 gifts then. That is the official start of the Christmas shopping season for me. This year I found a 4-foot tall white Christmas tree from Crate and Barrel that looks like a giant bottle brush for my mom. She collects table-top holiday trees and this one seemed so silly! It was on clearance for $12.

Here's my list so far.... (still a lot of people to buy for)
Mom: (DONE) Crate and Barrel Tree, Autism and Animals Book, Pandora beads
Dad: Northwest Fire Spice
Joe: (DONE) Threatening sign for front of house, Chicken and Poultry Bible
Alycia: (DONE) Pandora beads
Christopher: Hawiian shirt

I'm really trying to not go crazy overboard this year on gifts.

I bought that very same docking station last year for my then 16 yr old daughter for Christmas. She loves it! It was on sale on black friday for $25.00 and I also seen the same one at Best Buy.

OOOH. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a good deal then. Thanks! Glad to hear it's worth the buy too! It got good reviews, but you still sometimes never know.

Thought I'd pass this along (from the Budget board), but TODAY ONLY (Tuesday, 8/16), use code GMA at calendars.com and get 50% off all calendars (yes, that's for 2012 too). If you spend over $25 you get free shipping too. I just ordered 4 for a total of $29 and knocked a few holiday gifts off my list. They have a GORGEOUS Thomas Kincaid Disney calendar that I ordered for my best friend's daugther.

I did some more shopping today with Vera Bradley's extra 20% off of sale stuff. If you spend $100.00 you get free shipping. I purchased 2 Beach Towels for $14.40 each. Not super cheap, but younger DD has always wanted a VB towel. I purchased a Tech case to keep the DS, ipod, phone, cords etc... all together on trips. An eyeglass case for 1 DD stocking and another "reader" eyeglass case for older DD that I am going to put in her stocking with a tampon in it. (She is a HS swimmer.) :rotfl: I am making a dent slowly but surely. Lots of great things out there, just wish the checkbook would support it all at once. :rolleyes1

My Dad and I are surprising my mom with a trip to WWoHP, so I've picked up some little things at Borders closing to go along with that.
I've gotten my grandmother the same thing since I was 3 and she counts on it now.
So that leaves my dad and grandpa who are both hard to buy for.
Most of my friends I have planned out, and then the work secret santa will depend on who I get.

I ordered another gift this morning, I had gotten a $20 voucher for this kids' website and I used it to get DD a puzzle mat and puzzle glue and a little science kit for a stocking stuffer because I needed a filler.

I have to hold off on Christmas buying now until a couple weeks into Sept. so I can finish DS13's birthday shopping. Has anyone seen any deals for playstation 2? We used to have one and it finally died (it was like 10 years old) and we still have the games so he wants another one instead of a newer console. How are used consoles from Gamestop?

Years ago DH and I bought a used refurbished xbox game console from Gamestop. And I believe it came with a 90 day warranty. Never had any problems, it worked great! :thumbsup2

My son wants his own TV. We had been pricing and were looking to spend about 350 for what we want. I was in Best Buy waiting for them to finish with my laptop and saw a Toshiba TV 100 off. Went home talked with my brother who had just bought the same Toshiba. Went back and bought it. It is hidden in my parents basement. Most of mine is now done. I have a few things to pick up for my husband. Oh - I bought a DS game that was gold box deal at Amazon for less than 6 and it was 1 my son wanted. I am now waiting for a $35 rewards check from BB and then I will buy my son a WII game he wants.
