Christmas 2011 shopping

So I know it's wicked early, but I started by buying my first Christmas present yesterday for Tim's DD9. It's a "zipit" bag that is really cool! I think she'll love it :)

Here is the link:
http://www.just-zipit.com/galnew.asp?itemid=143&id=2

With SO many people to shop for, I always start early because it's easy to do $20 here and there but $500-$1000 total in November/December is killer!:scared1:

Anyone else as crazy as I am and started shopping already? :rotfl:

i just seen a pencil case just like the one in the link at target i know it was under $10 just wanted to let you know if you were looking for something else to go with the one you alreasy got her

we went to a store that was closing and ODD found a couple things she wants to give her Nana for christmas (my mom), and they are things I know she'll really like. So one more gift off my list! :cool1:

Plus I got a bunch of stuff for the class holiday treat bags at a good discount.

And I bought wrapping paper. Since I haven't bought any for the past few years I'm almost out and at .06/roll it was a great bargain.

I resisted buying cricut cartridges at BF prices though. I just can't justify spending money on that stuff when I don't have time to even use it.

Well, I have *kind* of started. I always shop early, "finish" all of my shopping, then go out Black Friday for the sales, and during the season for the experience (you know - the decorations, the sales, etc). SO - I have a new method this year. We have long term unemployment here, so I have to budget carefully every paycheck. Instead of sticking the cash in a savings account, every week I buy a gift card from Plastic Jungle. I know, every single year, I drop an easy $50 at Bath & Body Works the day after Thanksgiving, between stocking stuffers for my DD6, little gifts for co-workers, etc. So, I bought a $50 gift card on Plastic Jungle, for 12% off. They have cards for most of my BF "haunts". I hope this will really save me a ton this year!

Add to that Groupon and Target clearance (using Target gift cards from Plastic Jungle :thumbsup2 ) - it should be a good year.

I'm so happy to hear that everyone else is starting too!

DBF and I are moving to a new apartment come this weekend--one that lets us have a BBQ (which DBF is WICKED excited about!)

I know that with the cost of moving, we won't be able to afford one right now--but once I'm done with school I will be getting a "transitional amount" which I want to put some towards getting DBF his BBQ--but here is my dilemma. I'm trying to think where I should put it before Christmas! So I was thinking maybe getting a grilling kit, and then put a WM GC in there to cover the cost of the grill.....does that sound like a good idea?

This would definitely be his "big" gift.

I thought I could get my dd's big gift when the 3DS price drop goes into effect, but she said that she wants to buy that herself. She wants to sell her DSi, accessories and a couple of games to get the money for it.
She wants a newer generation Ipod Touch for Christmas. I got her one a few years ago when TRU was giving a $25 GC and a $25 bonus itunes card so I'll just wait until they do something like that again. She wants it for the camera, and since she likes to take video and pictures I don't mind getting her another touch. Besides, I can use her old one then

I feel like I'm not starting the shopping off on a good start. I went to order my dses the Nerf guns they want (using my groupons) and one is OOS and for 2 guns and an ammo box the shipping was over $20  The groupons will cover shipping but I refuse to spend that much on principle, I'm hoping they will be offering free shipping sometime before the Holidays.
I did pick up the Tony Hawk Shred game and board for the Xbox for $16 (using my 20% buzz club coupon), and I got dd a bunch of mineral make up using an elf groupon and I have an eye shadow set that I got at Sephora after Christmas last year.
Not doing to bad on budget, but its still early :rotfl:

lyncecelia, the GC with the grilling kit sounds like a great idea. I love when people get creative when they give GCs.

Don't feel bad, my shopping with my dad has come to a halt already:lmao: I had decided to get him a flat screen tv for christmas and when he was watching tv on his analog tv, I said 'wouldn't it be nice to have a flat screen tv?' He said 'No' and he said he doesn't want one for christmas. I told him to get a hobby where it would be easier to shop for him!! He said he is happy with his Lowes gift cards. So, I haven't decided if I'm still going to do the tv or not. My mom can get him the giftcards. Oh well, atleast my mom is easier to shop for!

I have bought two presents at K Mart at their 50% off sale. I got my nephew a Leap Frog toy that was normally $39 for $10 and my other nephew a WWE Kerplunk game for $7. I think the regular price was $19.99. I buy as much as I can early so I don't have a bunch to buy in November and December.:cool1:

I have picked up a few things here and there. My mom has already started some homemade gifts as well.

I have a list started and am looking for great sales to pick up some items. Last year we stayed under budget by shopping a little early and it would be nice to do it again this year.

Can you givem e a description or picture? I don't live near an IKEA, but my DSIL does. This might be a good idea to tell her for my DD and DN. Are these beds that fit the Americna girl dolls?

This is the doll bed I've seen at Ikea, but it is $20, not $10 (PP might have gotten it on sale/clearance, but their sales are not predictable): http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10101664

I've officially started my Christmas shopping. This weekend I took my daughter to Barnes and Noble to spend some money her Grammy had given her and she found the 75% off clearence bin. While she was digging through it I saw several possible Christmas gifts so I went back on my own today and got each of my three children a board game or art kit(for DD14) and a book. The games and books perfectly fit my kids interests. I even found a game called quackgammon for my rubber duck obsessed DS and I got all 6 presents for only $23.:banana::banana: I'm pretty happy about that.

I'm pretty excited, a couple days ago one of those deal websites like groupon (eversave, I think) had a $30 Zoobooks order for $15, then you got another $2 off for subscribing to their emails and it's good on subscriptions so I got one and will order a subscription for my niece who loves animals. I think I'll get her a stuffed animal or an animal puzzle so she has something to open.

I think living social has the same deal going right now (except for the additional $2 off). Just watch the expiration date, I didn't want to order the subscription yet since it's for Christmas I'll probably do it in Nov.

Daughter is finished, with an ipod2, and a disney princess bucket dooney.

Son in law finished, plastic liners for his front, back and cargo area for the trailblazer.

Grandson 1, magic kit, remote control flying helicopter and a few small toys, have a ways to go and no idea what to get him, so will wait for the BF circulars.

Grandson 2, Buzz wings, deluxe Buzz and a few little things, need more, but same thing as grandson 1, will shop for the rest on BF.

Co-workers, Disney ornaments, which were a super buy on clearance, so need small gift bags and either candy, lip gloss or pens to put in with the ornaments. (I have to buy for 50 co-workers)

Dad, no idea, he doesn't 'do' Christmas, but I still send him something.

Brother and sister in law, they love gift cards for Wendys, Taco Bell, Subway, etc., so I will buy $100 of those and be done!!

Niece, who I raised, so grandson #3, ;) They live so far away, that anything I mail, costs a fortune to send. For my niece, I will send her a gift card, enough for her December birthday and Christmas, for my great nephew/grandson, a toys r us gift card or a lego set. For his birthday I got him sponge bob on bikini bottom legos and it was his favorite toy.;)

So, 1/2 way done, approx. Bring it on BF!!

You've gotten a good start!!

I ove Christmas and tend to go overboard. Even when I know I've done enough, I keep on shopping. For birthdays also. So, I try to shop sales and am pretty darn conservative the rest of the year.

You got a great start for sure!

Inspired by this thread I've done some shopping. I have four kids Christmas gifts done and one birthday.

For three of my husband's nieces I got these shirts :lovestruc which I think are absolutey adorable!

Now I'm in full on Christmas shopping mode :woohoo: I'm looking forward to a relaxing, stress free holidays.

I just ordered a couple American Girl craft kits that are on clearance on HSN for my GDs. They love crafts and AG dolls so they are perfect for them.

Thanks for this -- just ordered my first (2) Christmas gifts for DD :cool1: (can't beat the free s/h! -- last day for it too):
AG pom-pom scarves kit $8
Plaid simply screen peace silk screen kit $5

We're not getting her too many gifts this year as she's decided she would rather have her Santa gift be the bedroom furniture she wants (will get it probably Oct-Nov). We'll repaint her walls & get new wall hangings/bed linens too.
