My DH entered me in a chocolate chip cookie competition at his work. He just loves my cookies. Little does he know they are just plain old Toll House! I need HELP. Got any tips, tricks or recipes you'd like to share for the ULTIMATE chocolate chip cookie?

:lmao: Too funny.

:lmao: just make the same ones you always make! maybe just add more c.chips? :confused3

DH does all our baking and according to him it is all in the order in which you put the ingredients together. I don't bake because he does and I don't like to so it works out great. :lmao: Oh, and he hand mixes everything. He claims that beaters "bruise" the dough :lmao::lmao::lmao:.

I always add a little cinnamon. Makes them extra yummy!
I agree with the person who said to make them like you already do. Obviously you are already a winner in your husbands book, so what have you got to lose?

I like adding Grape Nut Flakes cereal to my cookies. I adds a wonderful texture and flavor.

take tollhouse recipe, double dry mixture and double chocolate chips. bake the same way same temp. they come out chunky not flat. yummy, you will never go back to old recipe. we have this at family party's and they go fast :thumbsup2 everyone always ask's for recipe, we say it's a secret, so don't tell anyone:rolleyes1::rotfl2 :lmao::lmao: goodluck. laura :littleangel:

I use the Mrs. Fields recipe. It uses grated milk chocolate and oat flour in the batter.

I also use white and semi-sweet chips in the recipe and call them triple chocolate chip cookies.

Good luck!

Make toll house recipe but try experimenting with the chocolate use a better chocolate (ghiradelli etc) or mix chocolate chips with either white chocolate chips (looks nice withthe 2 colors) or butterscotch chips. Good Luck

I know this sounds wrong but a friend of mine buys normal cookies, like Toll House and she puts a small pinch of chili powder in it. It is the weirdest thing but for some reason it works with the chocolate.

I use 1/2 crisco and 1/2 butter instead of I think it calls for all crisco if I am not mistaken. I also use my mixer to mix my dough. I also sift my dry ingredients together. I get rave reviews of my cookies - I also use alot of chips. Have to be semi-sweet - not milk chocolate. don't overbake is the other thing. Good luck!

Toss some cinnamon in. Chocolate and cinnamon work so well together. Also use a bit more vanilla, use half butter and half crisco butter, bring the brown sugar up to one cup while decreasing the white sugar by 1/4 cup. Thats usually what I do to that recipe when I make it.

Just make them like you always do, but don't use a mixer, just mix them by hand. :)

Regarding mothermouse's doubling the dry mixture--would you please post exactly what you put in your cookies? Do you double the baking soda & salt?

Adding nuts to cookies makes them yummy too. Has anyone made the Nieman Marcus cookies??? They're to die for!

My DGD makes toll house cookies & she follows the recipe exactly (except for adding more flour), down to creaming the butter & sugars first & then adding the eggs one at a time, beating in between each. Her cookies are just sooooooo good. She uses all butter too.

My mom made toll house cookies using half margarine (stick) & half crisco. Hers were good too but the butter seems to make a huge difference.

How about almond extract instead of vanilla?

I agree with the others posters who said to just make them like you normally do. Obviously whatever you're doing, you're doing right. Sometimes plain old Nestle Tollhouse really is the best. :)

I love the Toll House recipe also. I use only butter for it. I also like to make a double batch and use one bag of semi sweet and one bag of butterscotch chips. It is really good and I also get good reviews. I second the 'don't over bake them' rule. I like them a bit soft and chewy.

I admit I dislike the Tollhouse Cookies recipes. Always too crispy/greasy for my taste. I always use real butter. Softening the butter before adding in the sugars is really helpful. Mix it all by hand and add in peanutbutter chips. Gives it a taste/texture that most love. The biggest thing for me is adding more flour (maybe a half a cup) and cooking for the lowest possible. Gives nice chewy chocolate chip cookies. I have a few other tricks that I admit are kind of my "secret" to amazing cookies. My friends always ask for mine.

I love all these ideas! One other question... how do you keep them from coming out too thin?
