I read about this in one of the threads. Is this a tease or what? They had a dessert buffet a few years ago and it was just ok. But chocolate? I need details. PLEASE :teeth: :woohoo: :bounce:

In December they had the midnight dessert buffet and had a chocolate fountain. But it was a variety of desserts, not just chocolate. And it was very late and a very long line. People started queuing early. I stood in line and got two plates for my family and took it up to the room.

They did this on the night that we had the chocolate lava cake in the dining rooms. We were too full and couldn't imagine eating more dessert. We didn't even want to see more food. My understanding is that it was just a dessert buffet, but there was a variety of chocolate selections.

In December it was a dessert buffet, heavy on the chocolate. Very beautiful, but nothing tasted THAT great. It was ok. We had better desserts in the dining rooms.

This is a key point as to why the LATE SEATING STINKS! We were so full after dinner and the dessert buffet was so beautiful. But here's a great tip..... MAKE 2 BIG PLATES OF DESSERTS AND SNEAK THEM UP TO THE KIDS CLUBS COUNSELORS. There eyes almost rolled back in their heads. They thanked us up and down because they don't get to eat the good stuff. Sssshhh, don't tell the higher ups.

I thought the crew ate the same as the passangers?

The desserts were beautiful, but not that tasty. Not bad, just not specatcular. One funny point - the ship was listing a bit, so the chocolate fountain only had chocolate coming out of one side. Actually, the stuff at the chocolate fountain was the best, but the staff did the dipping for you and I was too embarrassed to ask for more than a couple of items.''It was a long line for not that much deliciousness - maybe a one time only thing for me.

While most of the desserts in the dining room were out this world and many desserts at Topsiders were delicious as well, DD and I didn't think the desserts at the dessert buffet were very tasty. I wondered what it was about them and then I realized that, to us, everything we ate tasted alike. Now we are probably wrong about this, but DD and I thought that perhaps since the buffet was near the end of the cruise, either they were all kept in the same freezer and ended up tasting the same or they were just five or six days old and maybe that was it. Either way, we had a great time with the folks at the table we were seated at and the dessert display was gorgeous. The ambience was perfect and wonderful - very elegant. So much so, that we felt odd being there in our casual clothes, but everyone else was too. :) Would I go again? You bet!

Chocolate Buffet-

I also read in the new Western navigator that there is also a CHEESECAKE buffet. Now they're talking!!!! :teeth:

Cant wait for either CHOCOLATE or CHEESECAKE buffets!!!! YUM!

The food really isnt getting much of a rating on Disney at the moment. This was the strenght I got Dh to agree to a cruise, mid holiday. I so hope they read these boards and buck their ideas up.

I was on the 3/25 Western and the Thursday night dessert buffet was both Chocolate and Cheesecake... I thought it was wonderful..Loved the chocolate fountain dipped stuff...

The staff most definitely DOES NOT eat the same stuff as the cruisers. They get sandwiches for lunch, a lot of pasta and just basic grub. I certainly don't want to get anybody in trouble here, but I always left favorite things in the room for the cabin stewart and tell him to eat it in my cabin. And I loved sneaking food into the labs at night for the staff. Watch their eyes roll back in their heads.
I found out b/c we were so full from dinner on the 1st night of the cruise and they brought out a huge birthday cake for my son. I didn't know what to do with it, so I gave to the counselors at the lab. They were so excited and thanked us so much that we had to do it again on chocolate buffet night!
I'm all about the desserts!

Is this buffet on the 4 day? Please say yes :confused3

Sadly, no, just the 7 night, but they DO have a dessert buffet on pirate night up on deck that is YUMMY. Try the strawberry crepes.

We were on the 4 day, and we were so stuffed from the early dinner we could hardly partake. But did try a small amount and it was delicious. I do wonder something though...how much do all of you eat of the dessert buffets? Do you just take one piece of cake, two pieces or what? And how did you decide??

Ok that settles it! I am going on the 7 day for the dessert buffet alone!!
