*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

Avoid at all costs the time between the 25th and the 1st. It is by far the busiest time at the parks.......

How long are you going for?

I would get a plane out on the 19th and come home on the 24th,25th or 26th.

We voted on our school calendar for next year. Unfortunately, that extra long weekend in October is no longer there :sad2: At first, I was so bummed. No MNSSHP for me, at least not this year. But then I kept looking at the rest of the calendar.

Good News!!! School will be closed for two weeks in December/January!!!!
I'm off from December 20-January 4. Looks like MVMCP for me :thumbsup2 I've always wanted to see the holiday decorations at Disney and never was able to go. I'm hoping to get a great bounceback offer in August that I can use in December.

I have a few questions:

1. What's Disney like in December?
I  WDW during December!!!!
2. Best resort to stay at during the holidays?
Grand Floridian hands down. I can still smell the Gingerbread House!
3. What did you think of MVMCP?
Been there, done that. I could just visit the resorts and have fun!!!!
4. I have two weeks of dates to play with. What dates do you suggest? The days before Christmas? New Year's Eve? Right after New Years day?

We plan to be there the 2nd weekend in December. I cannot decided which resort to stay at during this trip. :confused3 [/COLOR]

I am going to take your advice. I don't think I can handle wall to wall people. I'll just get annoyed.

I'm flexible as far as length of stay. I'm thinking just a long weekend. I just want enough time to see the decorations and not enough time to get frustrated.

I like your suggestion about arrival and departure dates.

Thanks TGJ. Seriously, I feel like I should send you a check.

Are you doing deluxe, moderate, or value?

See, we will leave out on a Thursday and coming back on a Sunday and I cannot decide on a deluxe or moderate?????? I would love to stay at the GF or we could do POFQ. :confused3

I would also LOVE to stay at the GF. But not sure if I should hold off on the GF for a longer stay.

Have you ever stayed at POFQ? I've read so many good things about POR and have seen so many beautiful pics. But as much for POFQ.

How's your thesis?

I will be doing a split stay at POFQ and AKL in June. This will be my 1st time at POFQ. I will report upon my return.

I will spend about four hours on it tomorrow afternoon. I plan to finish up the first three chapters within the next three weeks! Thanks for asking!!

Remember, it'll still be very, very busy.

Perhaps keep parks to a minimum....do some resort dining. See resort decorations...

Go early (like way before rope drop) and get the heck out of there before it gets bad........

I can wait for your report.

Good luck with your thesis. Grad school is a lot of work, but all worth it when you're done.

Resort dining would be perfect, as well as resort hopping.

I'm thinking a rental car would be in order in December. I can't even begin to imagine the WDW transportation nightmare that is Christmas week :scared1:

I was actually going to suggest a Towncar service....

Oh, I bet all the resorts are decorated wonderfully for Christmas. Resort hopping would be amazing at Christmas time!

Good call on the rental car for Christmas week!

I think bus service would be unbearable.

I'm sure each resort will look beautiful. Plus, I don't know if I can justify espending over $500/night for the GF.

I was actually going to suggest a Towncar service....

Would you suggest I just make arrangements for the Towncar service to take me to various parks?

Or avoid ME and take a towncar from the airport?

This is so true:yay:

Don't you wish you lived closer? I know I do!

Once again, TGJ giving great advice!! :thumbsup2

We always use a towncar service to and from the airport. I'll PM you who we use if you want to get different quotes...

Decisions, decisions! :goodvibes

If you can swing a deluxe, I would do a deluxe -- consider it a Christmas present to yourself! :goodvibes

We think the same way :lmao:

But I can't decide :confused3

TGJ is the best :thumbsup2

Sure, I'd love to get different quotes.

Well, you know how hard a time I had choosing a resort! I am the worst. I am still tinkering with numbers to see if we can upgrade in June before my April 24th deadline. :sad2:

We probably won't though unless we win the lottery -- and that would entail me actually playing it -- which would entail me spending money that could be spent at Disney. So that's not going to happen.

towncar service to and from, stay at Epcot resort (BWI, BCV ....), then you are only dealing with bus service for 2 resorts...I would be afraid of Disney busses during peak times though, but trying to park at resorts, take a tram, etc might be worse.... When I went at the end of June, Pop wasn't bad.....
