This post is not directed to the elderly, people who need assistance/cannot stand or small children and people with small children.

Having said that...

How can some people I've stood behind in line for attractions (including a couple on Splash Mountain near park closing) suddenly lose their ability to stand on a bus?

Um...I just stood in line behind you for 30 minutes to ride Splash Mountain...but now you're on the same bus as me going back to Pop Century...we are all standing...but you are complaining loudly that you can't sit down for 10 minutes.

Just pretend the bus is takin you to your "laughin' place" and you'll be fine.

IMO, those who fought for & got us women "equality" helped with the ruin of this great country. A lot of things would be much better if more moms were home teaching their children how to behave rather than trying to "have it all."

:scared1:

I could not let this one pass.

Disney does not have to double its fleet just have the busses change their marquee from "Ole Key West" to where ever the busses are need.

I have seen and counted, five busses, less than half empty busses marked “Ole Key West” passes by as we stood in line for 45 minutes for a bus marked “All Star …” Ole Key West is a DVC resort.

To me a lot of this “giving up seats on crowded busses” business can go away if Disney had better bus fleet management.

We no longer will stay at a Value resort because in my opinion the busses run better at DVC, Deluxe and Moderate resorts and the busses are less crowded.

Because those additional bus costs are included in the higher room rates and DVC dues at those resorts.

So, no, I don't want equality and, yes, I expect a man to give up his seat or hold a door open for me. And, I will expect the same from my sons.

Saying you don't want equality is a dangerous thing because you won't have a say in how you're treated (since you aren't equal -- look for examples in many middle east countries).

Wouldn't it be nice, though, to see that instead of someone demanding something and someone else becoming defensive and confrontational -- that those who willingly suffer discomfort for others sake are given the appreciation and attention they so dearly deserve? There's too much "give me this because" and not enough "thank you to those who give" and ignoring of those who don't.

Praise the people who behave how you think they should, ignore those who don't behave how you want because trying to make grown adults (let alone strangers) permanently change their behavior isn't going to occur in an online forum or on a twenty minute bus ride.

I know it sounds preachy and all... but I digress.

I still haven't read all of the replies, but there is already a bunch I want to say. There are too many to quote everything I want to respond to so:

I am the one with the bus driver who made sure I had a seat. She actually did not force someone out of their seat because someone had already given me one, but she made sure someone had and said she wouldn't leave if they hadn't. Good for her for putting common decency over people's "right to their seat cause they got there first."

It's true that you don't have to give up your seat, but if you are perfectly able bodied person (man or woman) and you see a person (man or woman) holding a baby standing on a bus, and you don't give up your seat...well I will be nice and not say what I want to say.

Saying that if you walked around the parks all day with a child you should be able to stand on the bus with them is rediculous. Besides the already made point that you were not holding the child all day, is the ground at WDW moving? Did that change in the past year? No? I didn't think so. So it's not the same at all!

As for wearing out your kids so they fall asleep. How exactly did I wear out my 6 month old? Babies sleep when they sleep. And if he was awake, should he be standing? Cause that would be impossible!

As for waiting for another bus. Didn't I read on here not too long ago about someone who got yelled at by a bus driver for waiting for another bus?

As for not taking them till they are older. That's just rediculous as well. Disney is for kids (and grown ups too, you know I love it, but mostly it's for kids).

The OP did not say she wanted a seat because she was a woman, but because she was holding a sleeping child.

Clearly many of you do not have children, or you are just plain rude.

I often wonder in real life how many people on here are really like the way they portray themselves on this board. If they are I would not like to meet many of them.

Holding a baby while standing in a bus on a busy highway is unsafe but if you decided to get on this bus it is your responsibility and do not expect special treatment, be thankful if you got it. However if you did not get one, do not shame others, shame yourself.

Well I think if it is the ruin of this country well I hope you choose not to take advantage of any of the rights that woman have fought so hard to get like: the right: to bodily integrity and autonomy; to vote (suffrage); to hold public office; to work; to fair wages or equal pay; to own property; to education; to serve in the military or be conscripted; to enter into legal contracts; and to have marital, parental and religious rights.[2] Women and their supporters have campaigned and in some places continue to campaign for the same rights as men and deserve the same rights but you cant pick and choose what rights you and ammenties you expect. I am pretty sure I can say that most intelligent people wouldnt call equality the ruin of this country. And if you feel this country is in ruins......^ Canada

It kills me when everyone calls Disney transportation, “public” transportation. Disney transportation is not open to the public, it is available to the guest of WDW. Disney transportation only travels on Disney property it does not go to Wal-mart.

In my opinion WDW transportation out standing and wonderful, I have no complaints even when the busses are crowded. :woohoo:

This thread keeps getting more and more interesting. This woman's right turn is a new one for me.

That's a great point.

While I agree with what you are saying, may I ask what the heck Canada has to do with it?

Giving up my seat to someone, man or woman, who is holding a small child. Sure. Giving up my seat to an elderly person, man or woman. You bet. Giving up my seat for an able bodied female based on the fact that she has different reproductive organs than I do? No way. Sorry if that means that "chivalry is dead." Why should I have to give up my seat that I have rightfully waited for because you happen to have different organs than I do? That is absurd. Get real...:sad2:

I know... my family was really simplistic.

My Mom skipped the year she was pregnant with my younger sister. We didn't go to Disney that year. And my Dad didn't take us to Disney until we could walk the park.

My mom and dad told me, when you have kids...don't be in a rush to drag them all over Disney World... Sure its fun for the parents who don't want to be away from their small children... but its a pain for the kids, and everyone else at the park, who is not juggling 3 toddlers.

My Dad was tough but smart in his logic. Is it the chicken or the egg?

Is it my fault for not giving you my seat at 11:45pm after I'm exhausted.. or is it your fault for bringing a two year old and baby.... who are way too young to be out that late?

Just another way to look at it? :happytv:

Are you for real? Disney World is a pain for little kids? The youngest I've taken a child was 10-11 months and while she won't remember it there is no mistaking the joy she felt. She smiled, she laughed, she had a blast. You don't have to remember something to enjoy it. And it was far from a pain for any of us.

This thread is actually making me afraid of going in January.

If someone tried to loudly shame me into giving up my seat I doubt I'd be able to leave my room. This is both the first year I've dealt with being truly disabled from the MS, and as an adult with Asperger's, attention is something I don't want drawn to myself under any circumstances.

I imagine the men doing the shaming mean well, but it's really nothing more than bullying. Is it not better to lift people up than to put them down?
