Is that a tradition with many or just me?

Has always been for us until last year. We had bad weather so we postponed it until New Years Day and just had appetizers. My family liked it better so we are trying it again this year. There was a much shorter wait!!!

Its their busiest night of the year, so it's NOT just you.

Order EARLY. It takes hours to get your food.

It was for us for many years, when our kids were small and we didn't go out. Now we go to friends' houses for parties, and we eats snacks all night.

For a few years I went out for appetizers and dessert with my parents. The my DH and I went for Italian before hitting the parties. Now we eat light before heading over to our annual party. I think that it directly correlates to the quality of the food at the party: good food, snack first; just chips then full meal first.

Used to. But, the line was too long and the food was not the best - this from trying a few different places. So, we have learned how to make our own Chinese food. Each year we pick a new item to add. It is fun!

We did the appetizers and then a couple of years ago we went to Chinese. We would place our order the day before so that it would be ready when we wanted it to be. I really don't know what to do this year as both daughters have decided to go to friends houses, my husband is going to see his mother in the afternoon and she will probably want him to stay for supper. She lives and hour and a half away so he will probably not get back until 8 or 9 p.m. My 2 sons may or may not be here. They are thinking of going to a movie with a friend of theirs. That will leave me here by myself for supper.

I was reading last week that Christmas Day was their busiest night of the year, since they tend to be the only restaurants open.
We tend to have Mexican Food on New Years' Eve......place we went to last year was so slammed.....they ran out of beans.

LMAO, thats like us getting Mexican on the 4th of July!:lmao:

No Chinense for us. We just do apps and desserts for NYE.

We have been getting Chinese food for years now on New Years Eve...it's our family tradition !:thumbsup2

Never have before and won't be this year either. BUT next year will be considering that! ;)

We picked up this tradition 5 years ago just so we'd have a NYE tradition. probably going to the chinese buffet so the kids can eat what they want.

Been getting Chinese for a while now. We use to do take out but the last few years we've been going to a buffet place. Doing that again this year and taking my MIL along.

I grew up in New Jersey and never heard of the tradition of eating Chinese food on NYE until I moved to Massachusetts 14 years ago. Most years we do order Chinese food on NYE, but this year I'm going to make appetizers and desserts myself.

Unless, of course, DH asks for Chinese food, since he has grown up with the tradition, and then we'll probably have appetizers from home AND order Chinese food. :upsidedow
