China and St Bernards.

This will be the last time I address this issue with you. I still maintain that you somehow enjoy all the attention you receive, but that issue is your business. I know I must be on to something because of the PM's I receive for calling you out on your behavior. So I know it just isn't me seeing this or thinking it. You can pretend all you want that the static and grief you receive here on this board is the fault of others and nothing to do with you. I still think you know full well some of the responses you will recieve when you post the stuff that you do and you crave it, IMO.

As for chilling out, you don't have to worry about me anymore. I will make it a personal pledge to avoid you and your topics if at all possible. I see no good coming out of continuing any form of dialogue with you. You're going to do what you have always done on this board and get what you always seem to get, attention and controversy. It's your business and I will try and do my best, not to be part of it. Please feel free to put me on ignore and I request that you do. I think it would be just one less hassle for the both of us and the right thing to do. There's no reason to reply to me and I would prefer if you don't. Thank you for understanding and let's leave it at this.

5. My hands "aren't dirty". I don't go out of my way to pick a fight with you or anyone else. I state my opinion and manage to do so for the most part, without getting personal

This is completely OT for this thread since I think you have been very good here, but as to your overall postings on the board...:lmao:

I won't be putting you on ignore. I do not put anyone on ignore. You haven't been the only one to receive PMs but if they are important to you, enjoy them. I have no problem discussing controversial topics and you can expect more in the future because I find them interesting. With regard to your preference that I do not reply to your posts, this is an active thread and anyone is free to reply to it.

Must have been a slow day at the office. Glad to hear your son is catching up on 6 year old news.

I know I've said these before, but I'll repeat them again.

1. Dog meat is NOT common in China. It is not typically eaten by the majority of the population. Rice, tofu, beef, chicken, pork, fish, and greens are.

2. China does not care about an online petition. What they care about is $$$$ - or US money, of which, they have a lot - about $190 BILLION is the current US trade deficit with China.
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5700.html

3. The only way to force China to change these practices that you find objectionable is to stop sending them your money. So you should go through your house and find everything that was made in China and get rid of it.

4. Personally, I find the practice of eating veal much more disgusting. But you won't find me condemning all of Italy for their Veal Parmesan.

St Bernards are gorgeous, sweet dogs..The idea of eating them makes me shudder..as does eating a tortured calf..doe etc...

That said what is accepted in China is none of my business. We accept some things here in the US that are equally abhorrent.

This thread, however, has nothing to do with dogs..It is about disparaging the Chinese. How do I know this? Because like Eddie and others, we know Dawn's postings and we know she is has marginalized many ethnic groups and in any manner she can.

Sorry Dawn, but you know this is true.

No, it isn't true Ariel, that is the template that you have created so everything that I post, remotely connected in any way is twisted to fit your template. I am not surprised however. I expected it.

1. I stated early on that anyone's opinion, including "world" opinion would have absolutely no affect on what China does or doesn't do.
2. NOTE the title of the thread. It doesn't say "Chinese people", it doesn't say "all oriental people", it says CHINA AND ST BERNARDS. Are you so stricken with political correctness that you can't start or participate in a thread without being labeled or worry about being labeled racists? It is what it is. There are over 2 million hits and tons of Utube videos on the subject, if you can believe your own eyes.
3. If you have absolutely no interest in the subject, why would you open it?
Why would you waste your time? I don't open half of the threads on this board.
4. With regard to my "financial situation". I have never made that clear. I clarified a couple of rumors due to viscious gossip and speculation that was taking place on another board.
5. My hands "aren't dirty". I don't go out of my way to pick a fight with you or anyone else. I state my opinion and manage to do so for the most part, without getting personal, worrying if someone's opinion or "A" is consistant with their opinion on "B". Not everyone has to be totally consistant. There are circumstances, emotions, situations, timing, that contribute to everyone being inconsistant. I see it all the time here. It doesn't bother me. I don't care. I don't know why YOU care. I am not running for office. You don't need to vote for me. I seriously think that you need to chill out and worry less about what "Dawn" thinks although I probably should be flattered that you seem to care so much.

People from Asia are Asian. Rugs from Asia are Oriental. I'm sure it wasn't on purpose, just FYI.

I have disagreed with Dawn on a LOT of things. She has told me she thinks I'm wrong and why, but has never made it a personal thing. She's never called me names, never laughed about how stupid I am, never pretended I said anything I didn't say.

And she's never badgered me about anything.

It's more than I can say about a lot of people on the DIS.

People from Asia think Americans are goofy (and kind of stupid) to lump them all in together as "Asian." They don't care much, but wouldn't care if we still called them all "oriental." Each is as meaningless as the other.

If Dawn says "oriental" she isn't offending anyone. Except maybe Americans who have decided that one word is better than the other...most of whom cannot distinguish a Japanese person from a Chinese one.

You might want to look at my profile; not all DISers are Americans from the USA.

And yes, Asian people don't like being called "Orientals". And why do you speak for all Asian people?
I think I understand why you defend Dawn so much.

Greetings from China! When you Americans come and visit our country, be sure to try our famous cuisine. It's dog gone good!:thumbsup2

P.S. Sorry if I offended anyone and it's meant as a joke, but there's times when you have to fight the ridiculous nature of somethings, with ridicule.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I'm staying away from this trainwreck of a thread (FWIW, I think eating dog is disgusting, but no more so than eating veal, and I'm not seeing anyone persecuted for that practice round these parts.. just sayin' :rolleyes1 ), but this picture and caption sent me into hysterics! I needed the laugh.. thank you!

I realize that. IF you took note, the word "oriental" was in quotes because I was quoting Disneyfan67 so I could respond to his comments. It was the first time that I had used "oriental" in any text, which by the way refers to a direction; "eastern".

Did it ever occur to you that the Chinese are probably repulsed by many things we do:confused3 ? There are plenty of people in this country that at times have eaten things like squirrel, possum and even bats. While that's not something I'd ever do and I do find it very unappealing I don't think I'm superior to them because I don't eat those things.

There are people in the next house who eat rabbit..I find it repulsive but..what can I do? Is there a petition against the culture of American's who eat such things? Now Dawn may say human's do not have relationships with or consider rabbits as pets..I respectfully disagree. I had a rabbit for 7 years who ran around the house with my cats, used a litter box, and is buried in Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in NY.
Case closed.

oriental

adjective
1. denoting or characteristic of countries of Asia; "oriental civilization"

noun
1. a member of an Oriental race; the term is regarded as offensive by Asians (especially by Asian Americans)

Quite accidentally (not occidentally ;)) and coincidentally, virtually ALL of our close friends are Asian or Asian-American. I can verify that "oriental" is akin to using the word "colored". A lot of them eat and Wendy's. Many of them are immigrants directly from Asia. None have ever lusted after my dogs - many in fact, have owned dogs - the same dog for years at a time. It's an amazing thing........

My family has three dogs and 2 birds in Hartsdale

I love rabbit (to eat). My mother made the most amazing rabbit stew with sour cream...Not too many people eat rabbit in this country though. Can't actually see myself ever having one for a pet.

Now, why am I posting this? In fact, why am I still posting on this thread at all?
