Chime Bank? Yeah or Nay?

Does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) with Chime Bank? I got a sign-up offer through My Points where you only have open an account and set up one direct deposit for an 18,000 point bonus. They also have a 1% savings account which is better than I'm getting from my local bank. I don't have a problem with it being an on-line only bank, but some of the reviews on-line make me pause a bit. Worst case scenario, I open the account for the bonus and then close it, but I don't want to be pulling out my hair on this either.

Thoughts?

I would hit it for the bonus but I would not use them as your main bank. There have been a few reports of them just shutting down people's accounts so no way would I use them as a main bank.

I read about them just shutting people's accounts and that's what has me a little jittery. At most, I'd only be moving one of my savings accounts (probably my vacation fund) so something happens, I'm not in dire straits. But I would love to hear first person testimonials as those always mean more than generic reviews.

I'm glad to see the DoC report that it is worth it!

We have been using them for about 6m now and We really like them. I signed up with swagbucks for the bonus and kept using them. I like that they partnered with other banks so I can use them atm for free, I have been getting paychecks a few days earlier than everyone else. I dont like that if I want to add cash it cost me. You can use any greendot business so dollar tree only charges $1 but 7-11 charges $4

I have had Chime for about 6 months now and love it. Both my son and daughter in law signed up for accounts 2 weeks ago. No problems at all for any of us.

I have been using them since November and have had no issues. I can do everything I can at a normal bank just online. Plus I like that my direct deposits are available up to 48 hours early. So I get my paycheck normally Wednesday night rather than Friday Morning.

Varo does this also; it's great! I originally signed up for their bonus too and somehow accidentally opened a savings account with it. I wasn't too thrilled about that until I saw that they offer saving acct interest of 2.8% if you:
1. have at least $1000 direct deposited
2. have at least 5 debit card transactions
3. keep less than $10,000 in the account

I also found this on DoC. Chime is on my to do list but life has been busy and I'd rather not start it if I don't have the time to commit to follow the terms of the bonus. Love that DoC!!
