Chile Mine Rescue, anyone else watching and sending pixie dust?

#28 has a g/f who is pregnant and due in November....

I really can't stop watching this...thank goodness CNN is doing a live webcast here.

I cried when he hugged his daughter! :D " Chi chi chi le le le , los mineros de Chile" :)

According to the captions from the Chilean feed, that was the wife. No wonder it was awkward. I don't think that they would let the mistress be there.

All the news sources are saying that was an error and that was definitely the girlfriend.

I think that several of them have extra loved ones ;) but this one is getting the most press because the wife found out while holding vigil for him and because he specifically chose his wife and gf to be there when he came up.

Gotta run to a meeting. I hope they know what I am giving up to be there and take minutes! They better talk fast!

LOVE this next guy coming up....screaming all the way!! Too funny!

And his little sister is adorable!

That was sweet!! I cry every time and can't wait to give my DH a hug...
LOL i am going to find my Ds 16 now...and give him a hug...LOL

Maybe #21 had been watching Eliot Spitzer's wife standing next to him after he was caught cheating with prostitutes and the NJ governor who had his wife standing next to him when he told the world he was gay, and thought his 2 women would stand by him in the same way? :confused3 :sad2:

Wow, #21 puts a new spin on this smiley --> :love1:

I'd hate to be the very last rescue worker coming up the shaft. I hope they don't expect him to turn all the lights out. That would be creepy. :scared1: As it is, he has to strap himself in by himself and signal over the walkie (or whatever) that he's ready and hope it's still working properly. :scared:

It's important to realize that Chile is very 'European' in its attitude towards mistresses/extramarital affairs and that divorce was illegal until only five years ago. Sadly, I would say having 'extra' loved ones is probably more the norm than the exception in this country, especially within the mining community :headache:.

Wow, they are really moving fast now.

The blonde woman (wearing the white hat and red jacket) who escorts the family members to the capsule re-entry area still looks as bright and happy as she did 24 hours ago :) and the First Lady of Chile absolutely exudes warmth. Those are genuine hugs she's giving -- and her words to the family members (according to the translator) are lovely.

I just have to say, my eyes are swollen and my nose is red. This has been amazing.

The wives don't seem to be very "European" about it. The one refused to be there once she heard about the other woman. What's sad is that they are all fighting for government freebies more so than their men. :confused3

I was thinking the same thing - everyone who has been working there since at the least last night, the Minister, the President and everyone, still looks as fresh and excited as they did with the first rescued miner.

3 left.

I'm so happy to hear that siren go off, right before the capsule emerges. While eating dinner, we left the computer feed on, and every time the siren went off, we knew another miner had been rescued!
:goodvibes

This is frustrating me: The news will tell you every 3 minutes that they will show you EVERYTHING that happens with the miners. Then, when one appears out of the hole, they will a. play some commercials over it, b. talk over it about some other news story, or c. throw their logo across the screen. Then repeat about how you should stay with them because they are showing you EVERYTHING

This is why I usually get my news from the internet. I can't stand television news channels.

I'm watching FOX, anyone else have a better channel choice?

I have only been loosely following the situation with the trapped miners in Chile. I am sending lots of prayers and thoughts to them that all are able to get out okay. I can not even imagine what they and their families are going through.

I really want to watch all of them come out safely, but it sounds like it will be well into the night before anything happens. I am a sucker for this kind of live news, especially when a happy ending is predicted. I sure hope that all goes as they hope and there are no problems.

Anyone else glued to their TV's tonight?

I think the whole world is watching. I know I am.

i KNOW! its driving me mad! We've been having the same issue. :headache: My mom and I were watching CNN and no luck.

It's about time CNN is showing this again. I can't believe they cut to some stupid local debate.

The only other channel showing this is FoxNews.
