I wonder if anyone can help. On our next trip only one adult is able to ride the big roller coasters however I have 2 children 12 and 6 will they be able to sit next to each other on rides if an adult accompanies them and sits behind? Thanks

The official answer is no. Children under 7 must ride with someone 14 or older. But I've seen plenty of people respond to similar threads saying their kids could ride together if an adult was in the car behind. It just depends on the CM, I guess.

I'd give it a try, but prepare the 12yo for the possibility she'd have to ride alone or with a stranger on some things.

Yes. We've never had a problem with that. Mine are closer in age, 11 and 13, and they sit together when there is just one adult so they don't have to sit with a stranger. The only exception is when my son was 8 and was a bit nervous to ride Everest. My husband sat with him and my daughter sat in front of them. That was their choice though. No one told them how to sit.

Thank you. My daughter looks quite old for her age so we may be ok. I will prepare them for the possibility she will ride alone.

If they ask your 6 year old how old they are, you will have to ride with them. My 6 year old was very tall, and was riding with his 8 year old sis for awhile before anyone asked. That is how I learned the rule. Just prepare your 12 year old to ride alone. I usually had my older child sit right in front of me. It isn't really alone, just in a different row!

They were very strict about this across the board in December. They will ask the younger one how old they are, and if younger than 7, they will have to ride with an adult (or over 14 I believe). They were making people move on just about every ride.

Here's the deal. There's a 12 and 6 year old AND an adult who can ride with. It's simple. Have the 12 yo ride in a seat alone, and the 6 yo ride with the adult.

This is true. We have been behind families with children of various ages and we have seen the Cast Members ask for the ages of the children and then advised the parents of how the children could sit. There was a mom with two kids in front of us once and the Cast Member told the mother the younger child could only ride with the mother. So that's the policy and I would tell my kids the policy so they can have it in their minds what can happen.

Now, what will happen? Depends on crowd levels, Cast Members seating people, and a lot of other things that can't be answered here. If the kids do sit together, just have them sit together without a comment of something like "we couldn't do that on X ride".

I can confirm this. We're FL Residents w/season passes and visit quite often. 7 is the "magic age" for our kids to be able to ride alone. Our 8yo dd is small(ish) and has always been asked her age on every single ride if she isn't seated w/an adult. However, our very tall 13yo was allowed to ride w/his 6yo little brother. He was never asked his age and we didn't even know the age was 14 until our last trip (in March)!

I concur, they are strict about it. They even asked my 9 yr old last night his age. If they cant tell then they ask. And they dont ask Mom or Dad, they ask the child.

There's no issue with an 11 year old and a 13 year old riding together without an adult. The issue the OP has is one child under the age of 7, and as has been stated, a child under 7 has to ride with someone at least 14.

They will ask the 6 year old how old he/she is. You have to be 7 to ride with another child.
We were asked this when our 5 and 9 year old wanted to ride together last month.

My 10 year old (she is tiny gets mistaken for my seven year olds twin all the time) was asked every ride. She would ride with my 12 yo.

What if both of the kids are under 7? What will happen in that case? We will be going in December. We will have a newborn, but my 5 & 6 year old will be tall enough and I think will want to ride Everest. Will my husband, 6 year old & 5 year old be able to go on? Or will my husband have to ride twice - once with each kid?

What if they are 4&6 with one adult (as one adult will stay with the baby)? Any 40" rides this will cause a problem?

Funny, I had never known about this rule. My kids sat together tons of times on rides with me behind them, and sometimes with other kids (youngest was 5 or 6) as a group with no adults. They were never questioned.

I saw a case last October getting onto Toy Story Mania. A mom was there with 8 and 6 year old boys. The boys wanted to ride together, with mom separate. They said no, 6 year old had to ride with mom, 8 year old alone.
