Childfree Disney fans?

Welcome to this board, everybody! We love knowing that we are not alone in our choice not to parent AND our love of Disney! We too love the company of our nieces & nephews, and have treated them to Disney trips, but realized we'd rather be the cool aunt & uncle than the crazed & stressed mom & dad.

Lil Lil: don't you hate that "selfish" comment? We think that the people who have kids without thinking about the responsibilities first are the selfish ones.

Steve & Donna

I always have a hard time processing the "selfish" comment, myself. To whom am I being selfish? It's not like it is upon me to repopulate the planet. It seems to be flourishing just fine without our help. :wave2:

I am a newlywed and eventually do plan on having kids and taking them to WDW, but for now it is just me and my DH. We are both huge Disney fans, me more than him. I love it so much that my mom and I started a travel agency specializing in Disney. We are going down the end of March to take pictures. I can't wait. When me and my DH do have kids I am still going to be heading down to Disney just the two of us!

At some point down the road, my GF and I want kids, but, the upcoming trip is definitely going to be without them. And it's just as well - my plan is to pop the question the first night we're there just after dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, just before her favorite - fireworks. (FYI - we've been talking about this for some time now and I know she will say yes - she just doesn't know when or the details of how I am going to ask.)

Congrats kmcdougan!!

My husband proposed to me at Cinderella's castle in January 2002! Your GF will ove it I know I did! It was so great!! Make sure that you find a way to inform the waiter of your plan because my husband did and they brought the engagement ring out in a glass slipper on a pillow. My husband just pretended like he was getting up to go to the bathroom. It was GREAT!! Good luck and have a wonderful vacation!!!!

It's good to know that. I was wondering how I was going to get that part accomplished. (It was in my head, I swear!) I was just thinking about having the waiter take some pictures, but, I bet I could swing the pictures in addition. Thanks so very much!

DW and I are DINKS, too (Dual income, no kids). Just one tiny guard cat. (She loves to "chase off" the mailman when he comes up).
We plan our annual vacations around Disney and continue to love it.
Our anniversaries (though the wedding and honeymoon had nothing Disney related) are usually planned around a DW or DCL trip.

We do the same, mtheiss. We celebrate our anniversary each year in WDW. Last year on our 10th, we renewed our vows while we were there. We always say we're going to throw a big family party in Disney World for our 25th. Guess we'd better start saving now!
Disney is an awesome vacation for adults - you can be as active or inactive as you want. DH hates really laid back, beach vacation type trips, wants to be "doing" all the time, while I like a balance of both. Disney is one of the few places we can have it both ways, as I feel completely comfortable kicking back by the pool or having a spa visit by myself. About the only other place we've been where I felt totally secure & comfortable exploring on my own was Tokyo, and that's even more costly than Disney!

We don't have the yet as we have only been married for 2 years and want to be able to enjoy our marriage with just the two of us for now. We will have them in the future.

I'm 34, child-free (except for my 8 year old kitty named Tia) and husband-free (for 6 years). I love Disney World!! It's been harder to find people to go with me, since most are married and/or have kids and can't go on solo trips with me, but my married sister loves Disney World as well and has been able to alternate trips with me and her husband (ie. last year she went with me after our Tupperware convention which was held at the Dolphin resort...this year she will go with her husband to celebrate their anniversary...next year she will hopefully be able to go with me again...lol). I have been able to get my roommate to go with me twice (once in 2002 and she is going again with me this year). I have to admit though that I am starting to want to experience Disney on my own. I just have to get up enough nerve.

I guess I should chime in...

Child free newlyweds here... eventually we will (souvieners anyone? j/k). We do have two wonderfully evil cats named princess and angel - or queen b***h and devil incarnate on the bad days.

No kids but a 23-month old black (with a white patch on the base of her neck and a white streak on her tail) American shorthair cat named Chloe.

DOes that make me a SINK (Single Income No Kids)!!!! LOL!!!

Glad to see that this thread is still going!

In 36 days, I am going solo on a Disney Cruise and doing the parks afterwards !!

Guess I'm a SINK, too! No husband, no kids, and no pets!

Hey Bob,
Have a blast on your cruise! I just did the March 6th Eastern with my friend and her daughter, and it was great!

Thanks for the good wishes Miss Disney Teach!!! I am really looking forward to the trip.
It is nice to see another "SINK" on the boards too!!
