Childfree Disney fans?

I guess I'm totally "free" - childfree, petfree, and husbandfree....34 yr old kid (with a 7 1/2 year old nephew). I try to make it to the World at least 1 time per year, and last several trips have been solo (and had a great time!). I'm so happy to see that there are others out there like me....I swear my family thinks I'm sick with an incurable disease!!

I have adult kids, so, I guess I am childfee!!!! Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, I am free at last. ;)

LOL Gail! But technically, you are an empty nester, not childfree. By definition (see earlier posts in this thread and some excellent links), childfree folks are those who do not have and do not want any children, ever. Childless folks are those who want them but don't have them, for whatever reason.

Hakuna matata, we'll still let you play! :p

My DH and I are both 26 y.o. and currently childless by choice. Neither of us is currently ready for wee ones, and we're not sure if we'll ever be. But because it's an option for us, no childfree designation. The mom in my screen name refers to my precious furbaby, my 10 y.o. Shepherd/Husky Holly.

As far as Disney goes I'm the huge fan, but DH loves our WDW trips. I've actually never been with a child, I'm not sure how I would cope.

We are childfree and visit Disney at least once a year, usually more often. We love WDW without kids, but have taken two of our young nieces at different times and loved that as well. Disney with kids is definitely a different experience, not just because of seeing things through their eyes and all the usual reasons. We found that people treated US differently when we had a child in tow. Our two trips with kids were much more interactive experiences - lots more cast member interaction, lots more conversation w/other guests, lots more "special moments" created by cast members to make the trip memorable. I think we'll stick to WDW without kids, though - MUCH less tiring!

mishoe01,
My Disney addiction is so bad, I sold my home in Minnesota and moved to Florida to be closer to the house of mouse. My family firmly believes there is a screw loose, but have learned to accept me with my "problem".

Moosysmom, great idea to post your Disney pic along with your message! DH and I were just at Disney this past weekend--I'm going to try to post our pic too (no promises, because I've never posted an image before and I'm not sure how to do it!)

Re: moving from Minnesota to Florida to be closer to the Mouse--just proves how clear-headed and sensible you are ;) . We must have our priorities!

Well, my DBF and I are considering moving to FL. I'm a Computer Network Specialist(who dreams of being an Imagineer) and DBF is a massage therapist(loves helping people). We've been wishfully looking for jobs and real estate in FL cause with our career fields seem to be more in demand in that area. To be closer to the Mouse would turn a nice move to a great one.

Floridagirl2, it started over on the Cruise board posting pictures. It is fun to be able to see who you are chatting with. My niece is going to be here in a few weeks and I promised her MK. She is a big fan of Eyeore so we're going to Crystal Palace for dinner. This will be my first non solo visit and I'm looking forward to it.
Jessiana--Real estate was reasonable compared to Minnesota. The best job search engine I found was CareerBuilder thru the Orlando Sentinel, but you can choose other cities, not just Orlando. Good luck, I hope all goes well.

Childfree couple; I'm 25, and he's 32. If everything goes as planned, we should be visiting WDW, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris this year!

I just found out about the WDW trip a couple hours ago... I was looking at the phone bill and saw a 40 minute call to Lake Buena Vista, FL. He's disappointed his surprise was ruined and has made me promise not to plan the trip! I think he wants a leisurely Disney experience.

Moosysmom: Thanks for the tip! Needless to say I'll be taking a quick cruise out of the park on our Sunday there to pick up the local Sunday paper.

Two weeks to go!!!!!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

guess our January trip with the 5 yr. old was just an appetizer - we've been feeling the urge to go back since we got home. We missed so many of our usual "must-dos" we booked a March 6-9 trip last night on an impulse - couldn't believe we did it! Years of child-free Disney trips obviously has us spoiled!

No kids here either. My husband and I are young and love to just get up and go to Disney whenever we feel like it (well with permission from our 2 kitties that is).

My husband and I are childfree, 10 years married. Finally one of his brothers had a baby, and took some of the pressure off of us! We love our nieces, but from being around so many of my friends who had babies, I think I have a very good idea of the level of responsibility having children brings, and how much your whole life changes and is now dedicated to that child. It seems to me that some people have children without thinking about it too much. I have thought about it, and decided to leave it up to others!

I have started brainwashing my nieces, however, telling them that I was going to go see Mickey, but that sometime, when they were older, we were all going to go see Mickey together! Separate hotel rooms, tho!

My husband and I have no children. In fact, we plan our three trips to WDW around a time when schools are in session.
That way, the amount of kids in the parks are less and the lines are so much shorter.

DH and I are mid 30's without children. We visit the disney at least once a year, sometimes more.

Not that I don't love children. I am a teacher at a daycare center. I work with 30 two and a half year olds everyday and I love it! Needless to say I am a kid at heart, too!

Needless to say I'll be taking a quick cruise out of the park on our Sunday there to pick up the local Sunday paper.
Jessiana, you don't need to leave the park!!! You can view the paper at orlandosentinel.com

We are a late 30's and late 40's couple, married for 19 years completely child free and WE LOVE DISNEY! Neither of us have ever felt 'grown-up' enough to have kids. All our friends who have had kids seem to have become real 'adults' and do sensible things whereas DH and I are still trying on the different hats and putting the voices to the cuddly toys in the Disney Stores! I guess we'll catch up properly with our friends in about 12 years when they become empty nesters!:happy1:

Hi,

I am glad I found this thread!!! We are DINKS. (Double income No kids). We have tried for years to have them but now it looks like we will be childfree. The best thing we did years ago was buy DVC!!!! We try to go down three or four times a year. We something take friends & their kids but it's great going by ourselves!!!!! I'm lucky because we both LOVE DISNEY!!!!

Love this thread. My DH and I have been together for over 12 years but only married for under a year. I like kids fine, but don't feel like anything is "missing" so am not compelled to change our childless status. I agree with whoever said that they don't feel "grown-up enough." I still feel like an 18 year old.
We have two fur-bearing children (kitties) that are as close to kids as we are comfortable with. I am a Disney freak but the DH could take it or leave it. Hopefully I will convert him this trip--only our second together in 12 years, but our first by ourselves. :lovestruc

What a great topic!! Me & DH are both childfree. Been married for 10 wonderful years and we both plan on being childfree forever!! never wanted kids. We like kids, but choose not to have any. We are both Disney fans and enjoy vacationing to Disneyworld and the other parks. We also enjoy the Universal parks too. I think we have it good being able to enjoy Disney without being stressed out with kids. I know, some people would say we are selfish. Then selfish we will be :earsgirl:
