How many people can ride with one child swap ticket?

And, will we be able to get a child swap ticket for an 11 year old who is scared to death of ToT?

Child swap isn't a ticket per say, it is just a way that both parents can cue up in line and while one is on e the ride, the other waits for them to return. Once that parent returns, the other is able to ride without having to go back through the line and wait a second time.

I believe it is up to three people can return through the Fast Pass Line with one Child Swap Ticket.

let's say its DD, DS, DW, DMIL and myself on Test Track. By DS is too young. When we use the child swap for DS, let's say that DMIL stays behind for the first ride, then who in our party can ride again on the second ride, assuming that DW stays behind for the second time. Is it only DMIL and DD, or can I ride with them again.

Yes, any combination of three as long as you have a Child Swap Ticket. If your DMIL and DD didn't want to ride, the same three could ride again.

We did this over Thanksgiving with my son who was 18 months at the time.. There was like 6 of us waiting in line for the dino ride in AK and i waited at the exit for them to go on it then handed off my son and 4 of us went through the exit onto the ride..

I thought it was a total of 4 people on one parent swap ticket.

The 11 year old on ToT is tall enough to ride so depending on the CM they may handle it differently.

I walked up to ToT with my 5 year old in a stroller and they made her get out and measured her. They told me that since she was tall enough to ride, she had to go in line with us and do the parent swap at the ride with NO parent swap "special Fastpass" ticket given.

I was told the same thing at Splash Mountain.

But it does depend on the CM whose running the ride because that didn't happen 100% of the time...just be prepared that it certainly can happen.

Every ride handles parent swap differently as well. Some do not have the special parent swap Fastpass. Some you switch at the ride, some you switch at the exit, and some have the special Fastpass.

Just ask the CM at the entrance to each ride, who is standing by the Standby line or the Fastpass line.

What if you have one child who's tall enough and one who's not?

My 7yo will likely be tall enough to ride nearly everything, but my 2yo obviously won't. 7yo probably won't want to do RnRC or ToT, so would she have to wait in line with me, while dh waits outside with 2yo? Or can she wait outside with her dad and sister?

Thanks,

You'd get one Parent swap fastpass ticket from the CM for your 2 year old. DH rides in either stand by or with a regular Fastpass. Meanwhile you wait with the two kids. Then he exits the ride and you go and ride it with the special parent swap fastpass leaving the 2 kids with DH.

Since my 5 year old didn't want to ride ToT and is tall enough, and she's my youngest they would not give me a special fastpass as she's tall enough so we'd all have to go together in line OR my DH could wait outside with her while I rode with my older DD but we'd all have to have regular Fastpasses or go in the standby line.

Getting the special parent swap fastpass just saves time.

We just got back about 3 weeks ago and all "Rider Switch" passes are worded as such....."This pass is valid for up to Three (3) Guests and a minimal wait time may be experienced."

It shouldn't matter whether you have a child big enough to ride the ride or not. Our oldest DS was tall enough to ride ToT, but didn't want to so he stayed back until my DH got off the ride and then I went.

We did all the rides at all the parks this way since my Mom was with us too and we never had a problem. The great thing was that DS5 got to ride all the rides he wanted to go on twice. He usually went first with DH and then he would go again with Grandma and myself!

It's a great, free service that Disney provides and not that many people take advantage of!

I wasn't sure about whether it said 3 or 4 guests. Thanks.

Like I said it depends on the CM you get. At both ToT and Splash, they measured my DD and told me that since she is tall enough, I could not get the special parent swap fastpass and that we'd swap at the ride instead. I didn't experience this all the time though so it does depend on the CM. I think they are trying to crack down on abuse because there certainly is abuse of this wonderful benefit; people without a child asking for a parent swap fastpass, so I've also been asked to product the child at times in case I was lying.

Why do I find the "child/baby/parent" (whatever it is called) Swap the most confusing threads ever????

I understood it to be for parents to experience the rides that the children are eithr too young/short/scared, while the other parent waits with the child. Then once the first parent is done, the 2nd parent goes on the ride, and waits with the child.

Now it seems as though the kids go on the rides twice...and so does everybody else???????

Is it just me, or is this subject sooooooooooo confusing? :confused3

Yes, it can be quite confusing! Everyone has different experiences with it too!

The confusion is maybe the special Fastpass ticket you get. It makes it so the parents don't each have to wait in the stand by line twice.

You ask for the special fastpass for swapping, the first parent rides either in the standby line or with a regular fastpass (if you got them) and the parent rides with the older child or whomever while the second parent waits with the younger child who can't ride. When the parent is done riding with the older child (or whomever), the parent who didn't ride now rides with the special fastpass ticket and doesn't have to wait in the standby line. He can bring up to 2 other people. So older children do get to ride more if they want to!

Then in the above senario with a family of 4, if you got 4 fastpasses (if the younger child is 3 or over and has a ticket for fastpass) then you'd still have 2 fastpasses left to use! So theoredically, one parent and old child can ride with fastpass, second parent can ride with older child with fastpass, and then one parent and older child can ride yet again with the special fastpass ticket given for parent swap. Confused more? ;)

Well...we have two children one of which is 8 months old and obviously cannot go on any of the bigger rides. So...someone has to stay with the baby and instead of Disney making the person who stays behind with the baby go on the ride by themselves, the allow up to 3 people to go, therefore our 5 year old usually gets to ride twice. The rider switch tickey is for the parents to both be able to enjoy the rides, it is just a little perk that the other child gets to go twice. Is it really that awful that a child gets to go on a ride twice in a row?

Thanks! Much clearer now!
My problem is I am going alone with one child, who dont like all the 'COOL" rides, so I am out of luck..no TOT for me!

What is even more confusing is that not all CM's even know how it works. We tried to do child swap and were told they had no idea what we were talking about.
We really needed this option as we had a small child who is terrified of loud noises so there were many things we would have liked to go on but didn't b/c we didn't have a lot of time to wait in line only to find out we couldn't do it.

Whenever I read a post on this....it gets me so confused. It seems like something that should be relatively simple, yet turns REAL COMPLICATED!

they won't do a "baby" child swap with an 11 year old at ToT. The child will go through the queue line with the parents, and down the regular elevator with one parent while the other rides. Then they take the other parent up in the elevator to ride. :flower:

I think that the swaps are only available on rides with height restrictions.

Our experience was the following...

-approach the queue and request a child swap ticket from the CM.
-CM asks to see the child that is not going on (to verify height i guess)
-CM hands the swap ticket to the person who will be waiting.
-Everyone else goes on the ride.
-When the swap is done, up to 3 people get to go on the ride through the fast pass queue.

The child swap ticket does not have to be used right away either. You can save to use later in the day or later in the week if you want. When we went some swap passes had an expiration date (ususally for Saturday) and some did not have an expiration date. We still have a BTMRR pass that should be good for when we plan out next trip.

just when i think i have wrapped my mind around this child swap thing, i read a post like this and end up with a million more questions.

here is one of them.....

do i get a FP for a ride BEFORE i approach the CM at said ride and inform them that we want to CHILD SWAP? or does the parent who rides 1st (while the other stands by with baby) get a special fastpass/child swap pass from the CM? OR is it only the 2nd parent (the one waiting with baby first) who gets the special fastpass/child swap pass and the 1st parent (who is riding first) has to take care of their own fastpass via the machine or just choose to ride the stand-by line.

I though i had read on a previous child swap thread that i was to check in at guest services at the front of each park and get a all day child swap pass that we were to use at the FP entrances for each ride. Does this sound right? or am i thinking of the pass that lets you use your stroller as a wheelchair?!?!?!?

i am lost on this one.
