I have three children (9,7,4). When we do child swap with the little one, with both of the older ones get to ride a second time with the second parent that does the swap, or just one of the kids gets to stay on and ride with the second parent?

Is it different rules for different rides?

Also, would my 4 year old need a fast pass ticket to get into the fass pass line when we are doing child swap, if we are doing it via fass pass.

Thanks!

Rockin' Roller Coaster is the specific ride I had in mind, but I'm sure others will pop up.

When we were there and did the swap last time, it varied. Sometimes we were given 3 fastpasses to return which would let both of the older kids ride with the adult, but sometimes we only got 2. I'm not sure why it varies, but probably somebody else knows more than I do.

Last year, my son and his friend double dipped on all of the rides because of child swap. We were never given a problem with it. I was kindof glad because at the time I was nervous about them going off on their own and when they figured out the 2 rides for one wait in line, they stayed with us the entire time.

Also, we were at times given passes, but not always. For example, on Space Mountian, we were just let into the fast pass line. On dinosoar, we were taken to the back door to wait, and then the person going next was led by a CM to the front of the line. I think they have a great system that allows all to have a great time, even though they have children who are scared to ride. :thumbsup2

In March we went up to ( the CM standing out front taking fast pass tickets) alot of the rides and told them we needed to child swap. They gave us a ticket and it stated that up to 3 people could use it.. So Me, ds and cousin went and rode ( we went in the regular wait line) and then when we got done dh , ds and cousin rode again with the ticket. They went through the fast pass line.
That way the kids to do not have to stand around waiting , instead they get to ride 2 times... Different rides do it different ways as the other poster said. All the rides we went on did it this way..

One of the Travel Channels Disney show (can't remember which one, the one with the 4 different groups, Fan's guide to WDW, or something like that :confused3 ) had the one family do that, showed them doing the switch and most of the party riding the second time too.

We used child swap last week .. if differed by ride and park at Everest fastpass was sold out so we asked and cm gave us a switch pass and they went through the fast pass lane. then at epcot we did it for test track we got a switch pass dbf and dd went to ride regular line then when they came back me and dd rode thru fastpass lane. at mission space me and dd stood in line then dbf went thru fastpass. then at sorin the wait was 60min I would have had to wait in line then they got fastpass so we passed that I have 2 small kids there is no way they would wait that long they were really tired too! hope that helps! most cms were very helpful!

Thank you everyone, my question was answered perfectly.

I will answer your question about RnR based on my experience and what I would do.

First, I would have someome run and get Fastpasses for everyone, even the 4 year old (because my older DD would use the Fastpass of the younger DD).

Then I would go to the CM at the entrance and ask him/her how we can do child swap (sometimes it varies depending on the ride/and CM). They then will see that my DD isn't tall enough and give us a special child swap Fastpass good all day for up to 3 people.

First, DH rides with older child with 2 (of our 4) Fastpasses while other parent waits in shade with our 6 year old. Then when they come out, other parent rides with older child with the second 2 (of our 4) Fastpasses while the first parent that rode waits. Then if older child wants to ride yet again right away, we use the special child swap Fastpass for the older child and either parent that is willing to ride it a second time. Then my older DD rides it 3 times.

If we didn't get Fastpasses, then first parent rides with older child in standby line while other parent waits with 6 year old. Then when they are done, second parent rides with older child using the special child swap Fastpass and if you had two older children, they both can go with second parent because that special pass is good up to 3 people.

Basically, you ask at each ride how they handle the swaping. But you should also decide if you will do standby or Fastpasses as well for the first parent and older children. Then go from there.

There will be some waiting of the parent NOT riding first until the first parent comes out as most rides do not do swaping at the ride itself anymore.

If your child is tall enough to ride but doesn't want to then they measure the child, tell you they are tall enough to ride, do not issue the special child swap Fastpass, and tell you that you all have to go in line together and swap at the ride itself. Or you could just take turns using your Fastpasses in that case.

YMMV, depending the CM working that day!
