Chicks and Roosters...part 2

DH said the fireworks in our Texas town were the best he'd ever seen, including WDW. He said that some of them were totally incredible - like smiles and whirlies.

Maybe next year I'll get to see some.

Joanne - have a great trip! When I go anywhere in the car, I end up bringing "extra" puzzles, pillows, snacks, kitchen sinks. If there's room in the car, it means I've clearly not brought along enough stuff.

Hello.

I'm known around here for my packing ability. Mark's says that if there is an empty space I'll find something to put in it. :confused3 You can never have enough stuff, right?

I wonder what Lori's up to at Disney? Playing tour guide I'm sure.

Susan how are you feeling? Is this the weekend that you have company.

FAB your fireworks display sure sounds better than the one we had. It left a lot to be desired. :sad2:

Tricia - yes, I'm sure Lori must be doing the tour guide thing - there's a reason we hang out on a website completely devoted to disney. ;)

Looks like Joanne earned herself some new tags. Not bad after 27,000 posts.

Good morning chicks.

Early morning for our household today.

The carpool lady (me) is pulling out at 7:10.

Good morning! It's my first day back at work after a 5 day weekend. I'm doing pretty well after the surgery, no major problems and the hives seem to be gone! It was a crazy busy weekend so I had no time on the computer at all.

I hope you all had great ones, sounds like most of you were busy.

Have fun Joanne!

Tricia - hopefully you at least rotate carpool!

Susan - that is great that you aren't having any complications from the surgery and can get right back to work! :rolleyes1

Kailey started her science camp today. The did electricity and magnet projects. The only crazy thing - on the list of stuff she needed to take with her was a ruler. So of course, I assume I can lay my hands on one this morning. What do you know! Not a ruler in sight. What kind of house with kids doesn't have a dozen rulers floating around?:confused3

You know in almost every drawer I opened in the kitchen I found one. I guess the kids need a new one every year for school and I never make them use the old one from last year. :confused3

I'll be heading to the library today to return some books then we're heading to our local video store for $2 Tuesday. All new releases are $2 and aren't due back for five days. Yes, we are playing the role of

couch potato today.

Good morning. I'm currently listening to my co-worker, who turned 21 yesterday, discuss all the shots she drank last night. I'm starting to get a little ill. Those days are long gone for me.

Tricia, I don't know if you've seen Vantage Point but we rented it over the weekend and I thought it was really great. It's a very unique movie but not for the kids as it's fairly violent.

Tricia - see! I know I had like 8 from when I was in school, or inherited or whatever, and then Kailey gets them as party take-aways, from my IL's at holidays and I know I bought some for school. So WHY wouldn't we have at least one? I looked everywhere - and realized I was wasting my life over a 99 cent ruler. :sad2:

Susan - that is so dang funny. :lmao: Say, "go back to the one before last, describe that one, it's my favorite"

Good morning.

I had Mark wake me again this morning because Kelsie's got the 7:30 shift at work today. If it wasn't that I don't like being without a car all day she would just take mine (which is what she wants to do anyway).

FAB I was in our Walmart yesterday and they have all of the school supplies out. My kids start back one month from today. This summer is just flying by.

Susan I'm with you on the whole drinking thing. Been there, done that. Now if I had more than two drinks you'd be picking me up off the floor. :rotfl:

I almost forgot................Happy Hump Day!

Good morning. I hope you all have a lovely Wednesday. It's just another regular day at work for me.

Do any of you watch So You Think You Can Dance? It's my fave summer show (next to Big Brother) so for that reason alone I love Wednesdays.

Oh! Tricia, thanks to my broken arm, I am now completely caught up with Days!

Susan I'll have to come to you now for Days info. I hardly see if anymore with the kids home in the summer. I average once a week at best. Thankfully there is a thread on the CB about Days. I check it out for updates.

I have watched So You Think You Can Dance before and enjoyed the show but it's not one that I watch all the time. I really like it when the dancers are bad in the beginning. I can't wait for Big Brother to come back on. I think the new season starts either next week or the week after that. Some time in July for sure. :thumbsup2

Forgive me, I forgot to say good morning.

Happy Thursday!

Tricia, I think BB starts on Sunday. I wish it would wait one more week since next week is busy for me but I'll fit it in. Thank goodness for Tivo!

I have my post-op Dr. appt. tomorrow. I'm thinking he's going to tell me I need physical therapy. :guilty: I really don't have time! I'd have to find a place that was either open early or late, because I can't miss anymore work. My boss is getting quite irritated with me. The fact that for almost 4 years I only had maybe 4 Dr. appointments and scheduled my dentist for 8:30 in the morning so that I wouldn't miss more than 15 minutes of work, seems to have escaped her.

Tricia - I said that to someone at a store today, that after the 4th of July it feels like summer just flies. She looked at me like I was crazy, but it does.

I am going to homeschool Kailey this year, so the school calendar means a bit less to us, but it's still scary.

Susan- that is great about work, isn't it? When I had Kailey my supervisor was all about how many weeks I would be out. Um, there is life outside of work! But get the therapy you need, you don't want it to be an issue down the road. :goodvibes

Forgot to mention that I received my first CHRISTMAS catalog yesterday.

Forgot to mention that I received my first CHRISTMAS catalog yesterday.

Was it for a Christmas in July sale or actually Christmas. Since it's my favorite holiday why not bring out a few of my favorite smilies?

Susan I totally agree with FAB. If the Doctors say you need therapy you really should do it.

I'm biting the bullet today and buying all of Kendall's school supplies. :teacher: She has cheer camp next week and the week after that we go on vacation. If I don't get hers today I'll only have a week once we come back.

FAB good luck on the home schooling. Once Kelsie got into about 7th grade they lost me with all that math. Thank goodness Mark is really good in that area because God knows I'm not.

It's Friday! Thank goodness!

I'm usually on the road to work at this time but since my Dr. appt. is at 9:45 I'm hanging out at home a little later. If the Dr. recommends therapy, I'll do it but it's just going to be hard to fit it in.

Fab, what made you decide to homeschool? That will keep you busy!

I love school supplies. I still buy a pretty notebook and a pack of pens just for the heck of it! :rotfl: I have more notebooks in my house than I have things to write down, but I just love it.

I got all of Kendall's supplies today. Everything except the Kleenex and Paper Towels. I just didn't go down that row. Susan I also only buy cute notebooks and binders. I remember as a kid always having cute stuff and Kendall enjoys picking out her supplies. I might pay a few dollars more but I say what the heck. I wouldn't want to be writing on an ugly old black notebook either.

Ever notice how cute the composition notebooks are now? When I was little they only came in black and white marble. Now the marble is colored and I just bought Kendall a pink, brown, orange and lime green stripped one. CUTE!

Next week we'll tackle all of Kelsie's stuff. In High School we get no supply list. You just buy what you want or think you might need. The teachers aren't picky or maybe just don't care what you write on. Loose leaf, notebook, keep it in a binder or folder...........whatever. :confused3

Tricia - I actually received both - one "Christmas in July" and once just had Christmas stuff in it. Crazy! I also love Christmas, although Kailey and I were reading Little House in the Big Woods last night and when Christmas came and the kids got 1. a pair of mittens, and 2. a peppermint stick, she kept saying AND? AND? :lmao:

Susan - I find the grade school in our district to be incredibly punitive. I've never in my life heard so many teachers snapping at kids and taking away recess as a punishment (I tutored at the school twice a week and was the only room mom, so I was there a lot more than I had ever planned for). The final straw for me was the day they had set up giant bouncy castles and slides in the yard for the kids and a little boy in Kailey's class (but being punished by another teacher) was not allowed to go on them at ALL because he was a "time out kid". So for over an hour, he watched all the other kids yell and holler and have a great time while he sat against the wall. He's barely 7 and he's probably undiagnosed ADHD - but incredibly sweet.

Anyhow, Kailey didn't get into the 2 private schools we applied to, which sort of left me with few options. She's a very bright kid, so I'm hoping that I don't mess her up too much with this experiment. :teacher:

Oh, and I love school supplies too!! I still have fond memories of "Trapper Keepers".

What did the doctor say??

Fab, sounds like you are making the right decision! I am sure that you'll both enjoy it. How horrible about that little boy! I can see a 10 minute time out but not a whole hour.

Dr. said that I don't need therapy yet. He's going to give me a chance to see what I can do on my own and then check me again in a month. I finally saw the holes in my hand, one is so very tiny, but the other is about 1/2 inch long, thin cut. It could be so much worse so I'm happy.

In other news, there is another wildfire burning, this time locally. It just started and we heard the fire trucks go by. My car was covered in ash this morning and that's from fires 100 miles away. It's getting really bad.
