Chicken soup recipe?

How do you guys freeze your soups? Ziplocks? Is it ok to freeze a milk based soup?

I freeze them in those reusable ziploc screw top containers. I tried the "file" ziploc technique where you freeze a ziploc bag full of stock flat, and then stack them file style, but it didn't work for me. My freezer isn't big enough.

Can't help with milk based I would assume yes since I have bought frozen clam chowder. But I have never mad. Milk based soup from scratch. Hmmm might have to try that.

I through in a whole chicken, whole stalks of celery, roughly chopped onion, poultry seasoning into a pot and let it boil for a couple of hours. I then put a colander into a large container and pour everything into the colander. I skim off the junk on top and if it looks very fatty I'll remove a good bit of the fat. I know the flavor is there but we don't need the fat.

I through the veggies away and pick the chicken off of the bone and put that in the broth with equal parts chopped onion and celery. I usually put in some chopped carrot too. I also add a good bit of parsley. I taste and add more poultry seasoning a bit of thyme and some pepper. I then add chicken base until the salt content is enough. I don't add any other salt. The base gives it salt and boosts the chicken flavor. Bring to a boil and add about a half bag of egg noodles. Cook until the noodles are done and enjoy.

If you want to cheat and make it faster I will be a preroasted chicken from the store. A lot of times I'll buy them on sale and freeze for a quick pot of soup

Love this recipe! It is by far the best chicken noodle soup I've ever had. I just made it for dinner on Thursday.

But be warned that this is not a recipe that you just toss into a pot and come back two hours later to eat. It takes multiple steps in order to layer the flavors.

It makes a very large pot. Two of us got two meals out of it, plus I still have 2 quarts in the freezer to send back to college when the boys come home to do laundry.

I have this recipe in the pot almost done! It was a bit of work, so I do hope it comes out ok! How do you all skim the scum? I couldnt figure out if I was taking enough of it out I felt like I was losing all the broth. I tried my best though.

It smells delish and its chilly here today so a great day for soup! Got some crusty bread and oyster crackers today.

I have yet to get over my fear of the chicken carcass.
