Chick-Fil-A invites customers to visit for National Sandwich Day (on a Sunday)

Please read my post above. They have stopped those donations. And they do not discriminate in their stores.

Also please remember that CFA are all individually owned. They have to agree to abide by the CFA standards but they are not a chain, they are locally owned small businesses.

That's not what I've read - $1.65 million in 2017 to The Fellowship of Christian Athletes - very anti-gay. Same year, donations to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and The Salvation Army - both with a history of anti-gay views. The head of the Chik fil A Foundation saying they (the donations) were "relevant and impactful in the community". (All from a May 2019 Business Insider article.)

They claim to have stopped donating to these groups in 2012, but continue to do so through their foundation.

There was a pretty big backlash when the information came out. I'm sure they thought it was in their best interests to downplay it, but most leopards don't change their spots. They were able to turn the narrative enough, and they're doing fine for themselves, but there's a lot of people who haven't forgotten.

I guess I have not heard any of that. We have had their food maybe 3 times, we just don't really care for it. I don't like to hear that they discriminate. I think that is the big problem with many religious based companies. They have to shove their personal beliefs on others.

How do they do this?

Zaxby’s is really salty to me. Might have been a bad day, but I’ve been hesitant to return.
Fair enough! I haven’t noticed the chicken sandwiches being more salty, but I think the fries are. I feel like the fries from CFA were very potato-y and not the right amount of crisp.

Never been to Chik fil A myself, but according to another poster they put bible verses on their cups, and say "See you in church". Not that horrible, but it's still pushing their religion.

In n out puts bible verse references on their packaging, but they’re not as overtly political as CFA.

maybe it’s store specific, but I’ve eaten at a lot of CFAs around the country and I’ve never seen a bible verse or any reference on going to church on their cups.

Could be - another poster said they are independently owned - however I'd think something like that would have to be ok'd with corporate.

I’m drinking an iced tea from a Chick-fil-A cup right now. Not a Bible verse in sight. I think that’s an urban legend. Although I’d prefer Bible verses on my cup than insipid PC group think 🤔 phrases from “woke” places like Starbucks.

It's true about their customer service. It is top notch. Mostly young people too which is nice to see as compared to what one can see working at other fast food places, tattooed pierced drop outs mostly, in Fla anyway.
That pretty much describes me and I am a member of Chamber of Commerce, BBB, Little League coach, PTO at our kids school and I make 6 figures. So what are you saying???

Wait, is it a Diet Dr. Pepper or an Iced Tea? They don't taste anywhere near the same!! Lol!!!!!

I've been to Chick-fil-A lots. I've never seen/heard "See you in church" there. Don't believe I've seen bible verses on the cups, either. But, then, I don't spend my time reading the bottom of cups.

The biggest issue I have in the regard of "My pleasure" comment isn't that, it's the "Welcome to Chick-fil-A" shouted out from behind the counter when I enter. But I don't like it in any of the businesses that do it.

Yeah, they do (or at least used to) that at Moe's. Got annoying real quick!

I posted above. They say they don't discriminate in their restaurants, and I have no evidence to the contrary, but the owner has donated a lot of money to anti-LGBT groups. That is a stance that many disagree with. Many don't - I do, I'll eat elsewhere. You all are free to eat wherever you wish, as well.
Again, they don’t seem to have an issue with gay or transgender employees. I see them there all the time. Plenty of teens want jobs at CFA and they could get around hiring gay and transgender applicants if they wanted. Just say they decided on a different candidate. But they do hire them. Doesn’t really seem hate filled or discriminatory to me.

And I’ve been eating there since around 1980 and I’ve never seen a Bible verse cup or heard, “See you in church.”

I never said they discriminate. I said the owner and his foundation support organizations that many, myself included, find objectionable. This is why I, and some others, boycott. Others aren't bothered by it, that's fine.

As to the bible verses on the cups, and the "See you in church", as I said that was told by another poster. I have no reason to doubt it. Doesn't mean both occur in every store.

I actually see no problems with that viewpoint; it's a "you do you" kind of situation.

I'm not sure that I've seen it here on the DIS (it's quite possible though over all the threads on this and other places people boycott or have very strong feelings for) but the issue I usually have is when people associate other people patronizing an establishment as a verification that they accept what xyz has said/done/whatever.

It's not a comment aimed at you just bouncing on your comment but people are able to disassosiate themselves from things. I do this on various other things from shows, to retail, to food, to organizations, etc. Not to mention that in this particular case people don't associate Chick-fil-A the brand the same as others clearly do when it comes to exactly what is being spoken about. In other words just because I go into Chick-fil-A doesn't mean I think the employees who work there, the store manager, or anyone else in the chain of command shares the viewpoints of the founder. They might who knows..I just don't think they do by virtue of working there.
