Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

I think the game is going to be rained out. My season ticket partner sent me tickets for today's game (he accidentally kept them instead of sending them to me to sell) yesterday and they are NOT selling. So, I'm sitting here 3 hours away from Wrigley deciding if I should go or not ...

I don't envy you that choice. Guess right and you get to see a game. Guess wrong and you waste time & money. Sorry. :(

It makes me the DEFINITION of a "fair weather fan" LOL. It's cold and rainy at Wrigley today! Wah! :crazy2::sad: :charac2:

yeah, today not looking good at ALL, started by me about an hour ago~ for once the rain is NOT our friend as this gives the Brewers time to rest up and Thames probably will be ready to go tomorrow. Not that Sat looks a whole lot better but a window (so far )showing from noon to 4. Sunday might become a double header. The weather is the ONLY thing helping feel a smidge better that I couldn't take advantage of the tix for both days, Robin...

ETA rain stopped by me, but radar does not look good for this afternoon

I *am * going on Sunday and a double header would be a hoot. I have to get there super early (like 10:00-10:30) because they are handing out the NL Pennant flags to only the first 10,000 people. I missed out on the WS trophy a few weeks ago because we didn't get there until 11:00. My season ticket rep came through with one for me but I can't ask for that again.

Just heard on 670 that Joe passed the booth & told Pat & Ron to go ahead & make dinner reservations..:rolleyes1

Meaning?

ETA: Yeah, I wimped out today.
that odds are it's called...and Nick Offerman is doing the 7th!:worship::love:
UPDATE per Mark Grote:
Given the updated forecast for tomorrow Cub's doing all they can to get today's game in

here's the lineup anyway~ no Addie, looks like Sunday now for JHey...allowing for Happ no doubt
UPDATE #2 from JHey: Heyward: "I'm playing tomorrow" which means someone goes down. Won't be pitching, prob...so LaStella may be the one, as they sure like Happ so far

Monty and Willy did everything they could to hang in that inning, checking with the Ump, if Boz wasn't locked to 2 visits he would have gone out as well..absolutely unreal the 3rd base Ump not doing his job to call the game before the 5th even started. Then to let it continue and risk the safety 18 guys out there was blatant irresponsibility. THEN add in waiting until the field is too far gone to come back to and add in the home plate Ump who can't decide on a strike zone and you have a nice bow for the Brewers. Game should not have ever happened. That call is on the MLB, the rest is on the Umps. We recovered and even went ahead from Butlers walks, the run Monty walked in a complete result of the weather. Who can throw a pitch with soaked hands, uniform...the Brewers pitcher came out nice and warm and dry in the 6th. Anyone who thinks the conditions were not a factor needs to go stand in a cold shower with a uniform on and then into a freezer and pitch with rain pelting you in the eyes, face and hands. Only savings grace is tomorrow looks even worse so have to believe they will want to finish this one if the field is acceptable. Working on the field now, Shwarb's will get charged with the 2 errors..but we never quit. His play earlier was awesome. Still just insane the Ump let it go as long as he did. When players get put into injury situations like that, I will never understand it, ever.

I was at work, so I couldn't see (or hear) anything. Got home, fired up the table and all I get is rain delay. Keep watching the radar and it looks like they should've started back up by now, but I guess, from your description, there's no way the field is useable now.

So, does that mean the Brewers get the win? From what I could see, it was middle of 5th, which *should* mean incomplete game.

Is it just me or do the Cubs seem to start to give up after they are behind more than one at about the fifth inning? They look like they are out of energy. I wish the batting coach would work with Shwarber more. He swings so low and misses the strikes.

game is resumed, we are down 6-3. Let's see if it takes a tornado hitting the mound tomorrow to gets the Umps attention on weather. If the game had been called, yes, the Brewers would have gotten the win.

I don't see them give up, we usually have to turn it on after the 7th lol. Right now, both teams look sluggish other than the Brewers bullpen. I think being wet, frozen, then a 2 hour delay where you just want to stay warm and eat something. Kelly just said how JHey trying to keep the guys upbeat, timely response. I think Mallee and Schwarbs have almost done too much to change his swing, the natural timing he had appears gone at time's. I get it, as LO he needed to adjust some, and his OBP is pretty good, just the home grown Kyle swing seems gone.

What a difference a rain delay makes. Sorry we gave up so many runs earlier on. Really thought we had this one.

Bless those fans that stuck it out!
