Chicago Cubs fans - Rebuilding Year 2023

tonight's lineup~ also Boz out with a personal matter again. KB was sicker than reported, had a bout of upper respiratory and pnuemonia. Theo also said if anyone is interested in sell their Schwarber stock, he's buying, lol...no plans of sending Kyle down, removing him from lead off . Full confidence in him

If the catcher (or other player) blocks the base path without the ball, the runner SHOULD be awarded the base. Period. Every time!.

Unless he over slides it in the process . Based on the new rule , if there WAS an automatic base awarded, the 2nd base rule would negate it :rotfl2:
I don't care for the over slide due to the fact that on the rare occasion guys drop the ball, miss the tag initially or the base, the runner could be safe but since he over-slid, nope. That's the stuff that makes for awesome baseball. Like Cog's play..it was awesome to see that ! There is no rule for going above the baseline, but prob going to be now.

The boys had FUN tonight! Schwarb's with a 462 ft silencer to the haters, lol..Willy crushed that double, might be a hole in the wall as they didn't find it~KB definitely not sick anymore!Candy Man with the clutch single , LaStella the same~Ian Happ not only with his first Wrigley HR but his patience and control to take the walk and not try to kill it was :worship:. Addie with the insurance bomb, nice to have Vroom Vroom back..and then Riz...man am I glad to see you back! Had no plan of being left out of the home run derby tonight. Hector, great job, Koji, well that kind of night for pitcher's shake it off...CJ, you rock and Davis nailed the coffin shut.

I liked what the announcers (I think it was CSN) said....he Schwarbinated it.
KB looked very good for someone just coming back from respiratory junk.
HAPP made in HAPPEN. I was very impressed by his patience and poise for the RBI walk in the 6th. I kept thinking, don't try to kill the ball and get your first grand slam, just hit the ball hard and we'll get a run or two. I've said it as long as I can remember...when the bases are loaded, a walk is as good as a hit. It's possible (likely) I heard it from someone else before I started saying it. I had to call it quits (before I turned into a pumpkin ) after the 6th, so glad I got to see that.

I guess the other thing I really like about last nights game...it looked like they were having FUN even before they started kickin butt and takin names.
1000 for Maddon. Congrats!!
Hoping they saved some for tonight and get another W. Let's get over .500 and STAY there.

I wasn't able to stay up for the whole game (again :(). Did Rizzo continue his HR streak? Happy to be flying the W again. Now, in the words of Elmer Fudd....it's time fow the sweep. :teeth:

Hey, Robin...wasn't it you that said you didn't like the Budweiser sign? You should like Schwarber even more now. :tilt:

no Cub HR's, actually only 1 all night (other than Schwar's BP one that you saw on the Bud Board, lol...he DOES like that spot)~ but Riz did good and thank heaven his spikes are red because that allowed a camera shot& a really surprising challenge to be overturned on the last out for the W. Was a good night of consistent hitting, Kyle did great! That said, 2 nights of facing a slower speed pitcher, lets keep it going against the big boys. STL lost in extras's to Boston again, but the Brewers squeaked out a W in the 8th or 9th...bummer. On the upside Thames has mono and Braun on the DL , not sure if they will be playing against us this weekend.
Rossy did really well on his first announcing gig on ESPN, however they continued to do the split screen and story crap I dislike, showing his DWTS stuff etc. I was happy for him though as he got a chance to show he know's his stuff. He will be a manager for sure, if he chooses.

Oh shoot! I forgot that he was going to be on. The advantage of the DWTS stuff is that it may get people to tune in who usually wouldn't and and vote for him. I am feeling more and more positive about his chances to take the mirrorball trophy.

I saw the clip online...I'm surprised they overturned it. It does look like he just barely managed to keep just the tip of his toe in contact with the bag long enough, but it was soooo closeI wasn't sure it was conclusive enough to overturn. Glad for the W, but kinda a bummer for the Reds.

Doc, I made it trough the 8th inning before hitting the hay. You're not alone!

I'm sorry I missed seeing Rossy! We watch the games through some subscription channel...can't remember which one. I'm just glad we're able to see them at all.

Now off to find this clip with Riz you all are speaking about...

Let's keep flying the W!!
