If the catcher (or other player) blocks the base path without the ball, the runner SHOULD be awarded the base. Period. Every time!.
Unless he over slides it in the process . Based on the new rule , if there WAS an automatic base awarded, the 2nd base rule would negate it

I don't care for the over slide due to the fact that on the rare occasion guys drop the ball, miss the tag initially or the base, the runner could be safe but since he over-slid, nope. That's the stuff that makes for awesome baseball. Like Cog's play..it was awesome to see that ! There is no rule for going above the baseline, but prob going to be now.
