We don't have any cicadas either. I remember last time this was supposed to happen they talked it up HUGE and there was nothing. I kept thinking "what was the big deal?"
I was thinking it would probably be the same thing and so far it is much to my DS-10's dismay. He is so pumped up to see cicadas, etc... but we have nothing.
Maybe Saturday at the nature party there will be some since it in a wooden location. I think our location has just been too much growth/disturbed the ground within the last 17 years.
Tonight is DD's concert and I hope she feels better. I had to take her into school early due to her forgetting something here yesterday so now had to go in early & at lunch to do the project. Nice of her to tell me at 9 pm that she had to be at school at 8!!! THAT was a trick as my DS-10 has to be at his school by 7:50!!! Hmmm....so I took her there about 7:30ish and as we were driving she started doing her headache routine (she gets headaches a lot but so did I when I was her age so it doesn't worry me too much). I wished she would have TOLD me before we headed out the door. She could have at least taken some Tylenol then, now she gets to suffer through the day. She told me she didn't have one before we walked out the door. Maybe it will go away after she gets going at school, etc... I know mine sometimes would do that after I got up and going. Then last night she started up with her deep cough -- *just* what she needs before a choir concert where she will be attempting to sing. You don't need to have a coughing fit.
I had already planned on giving her cough medicine before we go as a precaution but now will have to see if she still has the headache since I can't combine medicines. Always something. I think she's caught her little brother's cold (yes, I know it's May and an odd time to have a cold but my 7 year old has had one recently) and her colds *always* end up with a cough that we basically just have to wait out until it clears up which take forever. Why of all days does this have to happen, couldn't it wait until tomorrow? Or better yet, next Wednesday. They have a performance on Tuesday too. I'm so looking forward to this concert so she had best fake her way through it.
